chicago typewriter - tragically beautiful
it took me quite long to finish the first 6 episodes, the flow went a bit slower and duller than the rests. but trust me, last 10 episodes were a revolution, a beautiful tragedy being illustrated by the actings of our main characters.the drama successfully told us the past story in parallel with the present. it also reminded us to appreciate the peaceful world we are living in - 'cause many fighters had laid down for us. in the past, the 1930s, seo hwiyoung - a writer - could not write down his thought; ryu suhyun - a sniper - had to pretend to be a man, try to make herself as worthy as possible. it was because they were in the match of finding their freedom, their country's freedom.

Don't give up on the first half.
Just why did I put this off for 2 years. Anybody wondering if they should watch this, do yourself a favour and WATCH.The acting by the leads, the villain, the sides: they really did the story justice.
For what I didn't love about the drama- The first half could be a bit slow but it's worth the wait. Han Se Ju's character gets crazy infuriating at some points. Not to mention his hair. But it's understandable as you learn more about him. Yes, theres a reason he keeps his hair that way lol. Along with this it would be sooooo much better if they added in more moments from their past life.
Now that that's out of the way lets focus on the good.
There's something about the past versions of the leads that can make you feel so much for them. As a viewer found it incredibly easy to understand them and their suffering. Ended up laughing with them and also crying like never for a drama before. Again, props to the actors. Especially Seo Hui Young, the overflowing charm. Too bad he's fiction.
They really smashed the details in this drama. Such well written plots with close to no plot holes is not easy to come across.
In conclusion, it's a masterpiece.

The OSTs are truly heartwrenching, goes well with the storyline. The dialogues were wonderful, and the characters made an impact on me while watching it.
The actors were pretty good which got me hooked up from the start. The plot has its fair share of twists, which make you go crazy and had to restlessly wait for the answers on the following episodes. I love on how it ended the way it ended. I could not be more happier than this.
To be honest, I didn't know that I would be this impressed by the drama when I first started this off. The storyline drawed me into the journey to the point that I didn't skip any of scenes throughout this one hell of a roller coaster ride.
Simply beautiful. Most recommended. Trust me, you won't regret watching this one.

SO UNDERRATED, WATCH THIS IF YOU HAVENT
This show deserves more hype, its so UNDERRATED. The depiction of young fellas who sacrificed their youth and life for the freedom of their country is always sensitive. Many of the countries have achieved freedom through such sacrifices. we couldn't be more thankful to those freedom fighters that we live in an Independent country. A melomance about three friends who sacrificed their youth for Nations freedom. And come together despite the time and space difference to redeem their karma in the present timeLIKED:
- The performances of Im Soo-Jung and Gu Kyung-Pyo are excellent. and as always Yoo Ah-In is exemplary,
- The past and present scenes have been shot and executed very well. The drama is very well edited
- it is written very cleverly as the past gets revealed very with the present time story is moving, it's very gripping since the start. The climax is quite excellent and very effective
- Music is amazing and lovely. just updated my playlist. Satellite by SaltnPaper is beyond my feelings.
-Books, the use of books in almost every background is so beautiful.
DISLIKED
-couldn't find any.
FAVOURITE SCENE
-When Yoo Jin Oh was watching TV and Han Se Joon was thinking loudly - Ep 9
QUOTES
-I would rather let someone steal my writing than take credit for someone else work - Han Se Joon (YAI)
-Guns Aren't the only thing that can save the world - Roo Soo Hyun(ISJ)
-No matter which era you live in life is agony, there is no such thing as a perfect world. Every era has its own problems and thing you want to resist. We resist, struggle, fight and win. That is how we shape the world we live in.
REWATCH: Its a must
RECOMMENDATION: If you have this in your PTW, just watch it. the freedom fighters of past and present love stories are worth watching.

CONCRETE STORY & SATISFYING FLOW
This is one of a kind series, an amazing story, and has solid elements.Chicago Typewriter never fails to impress me. Every episode leaves you intrigued. Everything — the plot is perfectly planned. No plotholes and you wouldn't dare to skip a bit to miss a single second. It's wrapped up very pleasantly.
The trio is holding great chemistry and performance. Each of the characters has their own charm. Seemingly how they helped each other to unfold the truth, even they were attached in their previous lives, it's the friendship who was holding them each other. I'm so in love with their scene together having fun in Carpe Diem, so precious.
One of my favorites, I declare TT

NOTA GERAL: 8,7/10

Two words: WATCH IT!
One of the most underrated kdramas out there. There are so many amazing things about this drama that it's hard to know where to begin—the plot, the characters and their development, the romance and friendships, the lessons they teach about life. And not to mention the main reason I watched this drama for: YOO AH IN. He's the best actor of his generation IMO, but somehow he doesn't seem to have the same mass appeal as some of the more popular actors his age. Chicago Typewriter is one of those dramas that linger in your head and heart long after you've completed the show—because it's that good! And this is coming from someone who usually shies away from fantasy dramas and prefers realistic/slice-of-life dramas (unless it's 100% fantasy and set in a fantasy world, instead of awkwardly mixing magical elements with real-life situations).Chicago Typewriter had just the right amount of fantasy without making it too unrealistic and hard to follow. The music, fashion, character development, plot etc. was top-notch. The mix of drama genres were expertly blended—I feel like a lot of dramas try to do this but most do it very awkwardly and the action/mystery parts feel out of sync with the romcom parts, for example. I agree with some people here that I loved the flashback scenes more, even though the current scenes were equally as important to the plot. The story sucks you in and makes you so emotionally invested that you don't have a choice but to keep watching more. My heart was not prepared for how heartbreaking the last few episodes were.

Story of 3 friends..
This drama is about three main characters and how their lives are intervened together which starts to unveil after an old typewriter is delivered to our writer main lead. It's such an amazing tightly written, attention-gripping, non-clichè drama. Though it has 2 different time periods, present day and 1930, it beautifully depicts the relationships between these three people and makes you realise how some people sacrifice their lives for their love, family and friends. It can make you laugh hard but also will make you cry hard. Even the cinematography and original soundtracks are beautiful and powerful... powerful enough to get engraved in your mind completely. It's not your typical rom-com with all fluffy scenes neither it's a science-fiction. I would call it a tale that stretches for eternity and depicts the relationship and struggles of these 3 friends beautifully ....Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Be patient, this one will suck you in before you know what hit you!
This show was unbelievably good. I’ll be honest, it started out really slow and I’m not known for my patience. It wasn’t until about episode five when I felt completely invested, and then I had to go back and start it over, to give it the consideration it deserved. I’m not going to reiterate the storyline, but the writers have many, many reasons to be proud of their work here. This show moved effortlessly between the timelines of 1930’s Korea and present-day Korea, and it all made sense. One of the things I was most impressed with was that the mysteries in the show were revealed to us at the same time as the characters, so I felt like I was discovering the answers right along with them. The writing was excellent and managed to take me on a journey that seamlessly moved from drama, to comedy, to tragedy, to mystery, to fantasy, and all the while there was no need to suspend disbelief, because it all made perfect sense. I also appreciated the factual information that was given about the freedom fighters and what happened to Koreans in WWII.Cast: Yoo Ah In as writer Han Se Ju was wonderful. He started out cold, self-absorbed and isolated. To be honest, I wondered if he was supposed to be the male lead, because he was not likeable at all. As we moved further into the story, his reactions, whether serious or funny, were spot on. And it doesn’t hurt that he is stunning to look at. Im Soo Jung as fangirl Jeon Seol played her part with the perfect degree of wonder and awe for Han Se Ju, without ever becoming stalker-ish or irritating. She had a positive outlook on life, even considering her somewhat dark past. Go Kyung Pyo as the mysterious Yoo Jin Oh was excellent. His part, more than any other, had the potential to become farcical, but he imbued the perfect amount seriousness into the role. I also have to mention Kwak Si Yan as Han Se Ju’s competition (both personally and literarily). Early on, he owned this role, giving it just a touch of possible sinisterness. Were you supposed to like him or hate him? As time went on and everything started being revealed, he literally made my skin crawl.
Cinematography and sets: Beautifully filmed! There was a clear delineation between 1930 and present. The close ups allowed you to really see and feel the emotions that the characters were feeling, whereas the far shots really gave a feeling of space and grandeur of the things that you were looking at. The play of light and shadow was used well to give a feel for danger in the 30’s and the positivity of present day. I loved how every place had different ways of showcasing books. His home, the other writer’s work room, bookstores, etc. Every place was very creatively put together, always reminding us that he was a writer. The set for his home was amazing!
Skinship: Two amazing kisses and some hand holding.
Camaraderie: This is where this show shone the brightest. The friendships of the past affected the friendships of the present and the writers/actors did a wonderful job of the slow, seamless progression of their relationships. They communicated well, they were honest with one another, and their experiences in both times cemented how they felt about one another. I love a show with a good bromance, and this was definitely one for the books!
Costumes: The clothing for both eras was perfect. Especially the clothes that Yoo Ah In wore – his clothes were classy, loose and fit him well.
OST: Hauntingly beautiful. There were times that just the music would shift your emotions before a word was even said.
I’m so glad I gave the time and attention to everything about this show that it deserved. It was amazing!
