Love is difficult no matter what the era
Love is difficult no matter what the era. I will give up on her in my next life. Let me save her in this one. These are but a few lines from this drama that pierced my heart to bits. Love makes us move. Love endures. Love prevails. The opening first episode had me intrigued and hooked! I love the sentiment in this drama. And I am a firm believer in Carpe Diem. The OST has that certain romantic vibe of the old times as well.
They live during very dangerous times a certain romantic vibe can be felt everywhere. It's nostalgic. During that Joseon era, every slice of happiness is like a gift. I could feel the atmosphere during the Joseon Youth Alliance movement. Is it because both of our male leads have that certain old aura in them? Both are perfect for this drama. I came to know Yoo In Ah when he guested in the variety show, I Live Alone. His personality is a bit the same as the introvert aspect of his personality as a writer. Writing with his abs and selling his books with his looks.
Every aspect of this drama is near to perfection. The production team even took a particular detail in terms of fashion and style of all characters. Even the interior design of their houses was spot on. The only downside is how they portray a ghost could be. When he turned into a dog and went to the shop of the female lead. When he transformed into a human, the dog can no longer be seen. I thought he could only possess animals not completely transform into one. The dog should still be there and Ha IN should still be holding its leash. Bloopers or simply overlooked?
Nevertheless, I get and understand now why this drama reaped several awards. It is deserving of the awards. And this drama deserves a nine rating in MDL.

This is such a beautiful story of a friendship and love so strong that it transcends even time. Even almost a month after finishing it, I still think about it. It's one of those rare stories that stay with you. It starts with a writer who is having trouble writing his next book, but keeps remembering snippets of his past life. A ghost comes into his life then, and helps him on his journey to remembering. The ghost also brings Seol back into his life. Slowly, over time, the three get closer and the deep friendship that they had in their past lives continues in the present.
The OST, the deep relationship between the three main characters, and the determination to free their country keeps you riveted. I felt every single one of their emotions throughout this. The acting is superb and raw. Definitely don't hesitate to watch this.
"Hwi Young prayed to the skies just before he died. He prayed and asked to be with Soo Hyun and Yool even in his next life. The skies answered his prayer."

I loved it!
If there were flaws, and I know there are plenty of flaws to this series... I did not notice them because that's how the story successfully distracted me from it. Usually, I get irritated with inaccuracies or get bothered by some other minor things in Asian shows that gets minus points. What ever magic this Korean Drama had, I fell in love with this story. The music was great, it did not feel like they were over used. Enjoyed it each time it came up to make the scene impressionable.
The actors and actresses were amazing, even the side characters and dislikable ones as well. At first I did not like Go Kyung Pyo, maybe it was his face. Maybe he was just too nice to be realistic. The actor really pulled through with his acting talents, which impressed me and I change my mind. Thank you, sir for proving me wrong to judge you that way.
The story... oufff the story is unique and does not suffer from Cinderella syndrome (THANK GOD)! It is serious, which makes the story amazing. It is comedic, which makes the story not too overwhelmingly heavy. It is CUTE! many moments where I wanted to hug the characters, and I don't mean the main characters or because they are good looking/hot. This story will pull at the heart strings. Used quite a few tissues, but that's just me being an overly sensitive baby :)
Give this series a chance and enjoy.

You would never forget it.
okay honestly I was debating on whether to give 8.5 or 9 for the rating but decided on 9 because of how hot ML is. I mean just the glasses get the .5 rating. I love the hairstyle and the suits.( I am talking of their past lives not present. )The storyline is amazing and really one of a kind BUT, it could have been portrayed better. Something fell clumsy and unordered while watching the whole thing. I just bing watched the whole thing in 1 and half days. The script and story was good but the way in which it was told was kinda flat. And I personally felt there could have been more past life scenes.
Casting/acting/music idc everything was just top-notch. And that just one kiss scene (iykyk).
As someone who loved Mr Sunshine and hoped for the same here(I know nothing could be that level), Chicago typewriter didn't actually meet my expectations. I had hopes for this one, but yea couldn't meet the bar set by Mr Sunshine I guess.
Without comparing or just pulling off any expectations I would have loved it. Chicago typewriter has its own charms and characters I'll always keep in my heart. Just the thing that it felt slow in their present lives and I just wanted to see their whole past life. I guess that's what made this drama a bit draggy for me.
Apart from all of that, I think everyone should watch it and decide if it's worth their time or not. It's captivating to pull you enough and make you watch the whole thing.

A heart wrenching tale of love and regret which transcends time !!
let me first get the one negative thing I have to say out of the way and i.e. that at times the show feels stretched and I also feel the entire story could have been told in a much more effective and impressive way had they cut down on a few absolutely unnecessary filler scenes (which only slowed down the momentum the story was building) and condensed the story to around 12 episodes..but having said thatthis was a very well written and directed show with great performances ...Yoo Ah In as Han Se Ju/Seo Hwi Young was the highlight of the show...I absolutely loved the past story and the friendship of the three freedom fighters..the bromance was funny and endearing and the love story was enjoyable ....the ost added an emotional depth to an already heartwarming tale .also I will give the show credit for having one of the best, most satisfying ending arc for a kdrama... the last 2 episodes were hands down one of the best things I have seen on screen...
My recommendation : have a little patience in the beginning because the payoff for that patience is deeply satisfying !!

Masterpiece
This kdrama is very special to me. It revived my literary passion and thoughts, while watching each episodes. It was an experience of being literally transported into the screen, watching the actors played their role and witness every gripping and heart wrenching episodes (especially EP 14). The running time for each episode is 1 hour but it feels like I have been watching it for too long, yet without feeling bored neither the need to speed up the scenes. To liken it to music, the tempo is just right to enjoy the lyrics. Yoo Ah-in's portrayal of the character is admirable. There was distinction of acting relevant to the era of the role. He imbibed the role of an author flawlessly. I like the smooth transition between era and how the missing pieces of the story is revealed. With all the Kdramas I've watched this by far stands out in terms of literary value. It's entertaining and engrossing. Although I don't necessarily believe in reincarnation, other themes related to integrity, friendship, living life, trust and forgiveness were impeccably wrapped and embodied in the lives of the character, plot and setting of the story. I am thankful that this appeared in the recommended dramas to watch.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

What can I say about this show? It is an absolute gem! Don't know why is it so underrated and why it is not talked about much. Amazing how Korean shows are so good with showing the belief of reincarnation. This show is filled with excellent actors and classic music. I am now aware that Korean shows come with their package of thriller, suspense and romance, this show has all that and more.
Not once did I find this show lacking in pace or boring. Kept me engaged and engrossed until the very end, which was satisfactory.
Definitely recommend others to watch this absolute underrated gem!

the main 3 protagonists act well on their characters and i like the way how this drama was written . it don't go back and forth between the past and present life the usual way , the way of transiting between the different era's is a good and charming characteristics of this drama
about the romantic perspective of this drama , i found their romance to be more realistic relatively and captivating , the chemistry between two main leads are fun and nice to watch and their interactions, way of meeting each other and spending time together was relatively realistic and it do brings out a smile in your face while watching them together .
and i must say , the bonding between HSJ and YJO was so pure , humorous and a breath of fresh air , while we watch the traditional k drama ish relation between friends when there is a love interest in between , they really had a good and joyful way of portraying their relation. the bonding between two male and leads and female leads as friends is one of the best part of this drama.
the supporting characters were a joy to the story line, they managed to balance out the characters , just the right amount of humor and fun.
and one of the biggest point of this drama is how in contrast the past life and present life is and how they were brought together . last but not the least yoo ah jin was phenomenal and adorable (you will know when you see it T T )
from start to finish , they managed to keep their pace , established a dynamic storyline which was enhanced by the outstanding acting of yoo ah in , im so jung , go kyung pyo , kwak shi yang . they carried out their roles beautifully . you will love the protagonists and kind of hate the antagonist (?) i mean even though there is no clear antagonist in this drama . ( decide it yourself !!)
and finally the cinematography and the set designs are very good to , just to give the exact vibe !!

The best past life story with the best leads and plot
This drama is really the best past life story drama i have ever watched. According to me and for me in this drama not even a single moment was boring. the chemistry of the main leads and yoo jin oh which was the main reason of all the smiles in the moments of this drama. The story started with a really great start and ended with a very satisfying end. This drama especially the last two episodes really made me cry a lot. Specially the death scene of all the main leads. the ost and musics were really emotional and good. I really loved the acting of yoo ah in. I really regret not watching this drama soon. The plot was very good and i didnt even have to forward any scenes as nothing was boring . I really hope the trio of this drama ( the three main leads) show up together in many more dramas. I really miss the drama a lot.

This drama is forever imprinted in my memory. It had so much feelings and emotions were running with every episode. at first it looks as if nothing much is there but it captivates you and story developments makes you curiouse what really happened, what would be the end.
When I finished the series I felt warm and little bit sad, it does have happy ending but at some point bittersweet as you remember what happened to them.
Nothing tragic and forever separation or dragged crying scenes to be expected- which is a big plus.
Story is told in a perfect way and lets you experience everything with the help of amazing actors and soundtracks and background music.
A kdrama that is to be never forgotten. Thank you for everybody who had a hand in making this drama. I just dont get those who say this series was overrated- it is underrated- it is just pure pleasure.
