KinnPorsche The Series (2022)

It's A Good Series, But Certainly NOT a Great Series

I will make this review as short as possible given the complexities of this series.

THE GOOD:

1) The series obviously seems to have had a big budget. No expense was spared in the scenery, costumes, film sites, etc. The series had the feel of a "bi budget movie." The flow of the story (such as it was) was pretty good. There were several subplots within the main story, or at least it seemed that way to me. These subplots, IMO, were just as significant as the main story. Some things in the series kind of depended on whether or not you've read the novel ahead of time. However, it should be noted that there several differences between the novel and series. And, IMO, I think that was probably a good and wise decision for the director, screenwriter and producers to vary from the novel.

The action in the series made it feel like a true action series, and NOT just a BL.

2) The cast was pretty darn good, even though it was a large cast. Some of the characters were very different than what we are used to in a BL series, and I think that made the series kind of refereshing. I especially like the character of Tankhun, Pete, Vegas, and Yok (the bar owner). These characters (although were support characters) really made some of the storyline come alive.

3) The steamy sex scenes between the mains. Yes, some posters commented that the scenes bordered on "porno." But, they were hot, steamy, and the chemistry of the mains during these scenes seemed genuine.

THE NOT SO GOOD:

1) First and foremost is the violence. There's a lot of it. Yes, it's a mafia-based series and it is expected that there would be mafia-like violence, such as murder, torture, drug deals, mass killings, etc. This is most definitely something that is different than in most BLs durint he past several years.

2) The questionable sex scene between Kinn and Porsche, as well the treatment and sex scene (and eventual relationship) between Vegas and Pete. Several posters found some of this behavior questionable at best, and down right wrong at its worst. Many threw around suggestions of Stockholm syndrome with Vegas and Pete, which stirred a lengthy and heated "discussion" amongst posters. I'm not going to entertain a comment -- you can view those scenes and decide for yourself.

3) Although many will disagree, IMO, KinnPorsche, with as new and different a BL as it was, still kind of clinged on to a aged old stereotypes and tropes. Here are a few examples:
a. The series appeared to still hold to the old "seme/uke" standard. It appeared that Kinn and Vegas were the semes and Porsche and Pete were the ukes. These roles seemed to not vary at all during the series.
b. The dreaded "drug" sex between Kinn and Porsche. This also lends to the trope that "Kinn turned Porsche gay" and the two falling in love after one night of sex. What, never heard of one-night stands???

THE INTERESTING:

1) All the main characters were attractive "pretty boys," even the bodyguards in Kinn's organization (the major family). They all looked liked they walked out a GQ magazine spread. There were NO "ugly" bodyguards in the bunch. Now, in Vegas' organization (the minor family), those bodyguards seemed like what we've come to see in other mafia genre movies and series. The bodyguards of the "main family" were also all very young, fit, and dressed like Men in Black. That was kind of interesting to me.

2) It was interesting that the two sons of mafia families were openly lgbt+ and no one seemed to have any kind of problem with it, not even their mafia fathers. I know that was probably part of the BL fantasy part of this series. But, it was still very interesting.

3) It was interesting that both Porsche and his younger brother, as well as Kinn and his younger brother ended up liking men. Yes, it may be slightly out-of-touch to make such as statement. However, it is still unique (although not impossible) to have mostly lgbt+ sons in one family, something not duplicated much in real life.

4) I also found interesting how the series managed to have drama, suspense, humor, sex, violence, and family all rolled up into one series. Yes, at times, it did not make much sense. However, at other times, it did make sense.

5) Finally, so overall, I would say that KinnPorsche was a really good series for what it was, DIFFERENT. And, different made it interesting. And, being interesting is what made me stick with it for 14 episodes, when I intitially wanted to drop it around episode 6 or 7.

TOTALLY WORTH THE HYPE

KinnPorsche is not your regular BL. It actually has a engaging storyline. Even though the plot has so many flaws, it was quite entertaining. I am not big fan of action but the action sequence in this series was awesome. I totally regretted watching this drama while airing as this is a binge worthy show. I started watching it because i liked Porsche but in the end fell in love with Vegas. Pete and Vegas love story was messed up but i really love the pair. Kinn and Porsche has great chemistry. Unlike other bl, both the main character were strong and both were able to protect each other. There was no damsel in distress situation. The actors did the great job. There were quite too many steamy scenes. If you were not into it, this show is not for you. I did not like the last ending though as I felt something was missing. Overall, this show is totally worth your time.

I'm not here to talk about Kinn and Porsche

I've seen Kinn and Porsche's story so many times, but I keep coming back because of Vegas and Pete. I have a soft spot for Pete, he was a good fit for this character and his smile is just perfection

We all know Vegas and Pet have a very toxic relationship because it starts with a basic kidnap and captivity, however, there's just something about these two that drew us in, and I think it was the chemistry. Their physical and mental chemistry is just one of the best that there is, it's crazy how a show can make us fall in love with a crazy relationship.

I think it's different in that you see them gradually falling in love with each other throughout the captivity because in any other show the "victim" is forced to fall in love to stay alive. Still, these two do it on their own, especially Pete because Vegas fell for Pete first, you can see it if you rewatch and look at the way Vegas looks at Pete during their encounters. Still, Pete fell harder just from getting to know Vegas and understanding him. Pete had an opportunity to run away but he chose to stay with Vegas.

Also in the last episode when we thought Vegas died, I did not know there was an ending for these two until I reached it and it was so good, I think these two need a spin-off or another series for just them because again, their chemistry is off the charts.

Side note: how did they not know Pete never came back? It's technically the Major's family's fault for Pete falling in love because they took so long to realize he was gone.

That opening theme I love it

WELL. I finished this series in less than 24 hours. The first episode had me a little iffy but I was sucked in fast but iffy probably just cause I haven’t watched this genre much. But this series was ALL over social media even when I follow tons of Kdrama accounts so I knew something was going on with it.

Is it just me getting old or did all the actors look like babies??? But they are my age??? I’m getting old ;_;

First I love that opening song and it popped up during a lot of kickass action scenes. This drama had lots of steamy scenes, cute stuff, romantic stuff and funny stuff. It also had tons of actions, some scenes of torture and intended/suggested rape or molestation for trigger warning. But it also had some awesome ass characters. I love characters that can bend and change and change how you feel about them.

First enter Porchse badass sexy bartender ladies man for sure seems real smooth when he enters on that first episode and he is smooth as shit when he saves Kinn but as soon as he enters the main house he becomes a clumsy idiot who keeps getting into trouble. I was like whoa what is this change and what has befallen you my dude. Kinn also was kind of badass and smooth and poise and then when they later showed moments of being not too bright in survival and abit directionally challenged and abit aloof when trying to be a cute boyfriend. Anyways these two main characters had many different sides to them not just one sided cardboard cutout. Loved it.

I also loved all the side relationships but it also made me want like multiple series and TO KNOW MORE. But I also was kind of confused about the Kim and Chay relationship because Chay was a fan and came off a little obsessed and stalkerish but I’m assuming at that point they were a lot closer as friends but they just didn’t show that on screen because later they showed all those Polaroids. I was confused bc it seemed he confessed his feelings they spent a night together and then he was kidnapped and they didn’t see each other again so I was like where did they take these couple photos. So I’m assuming they had this mystery relationship off screen that we were suppose to just know or understand? That’s fine. I wish they had more screen time and it flowed better. It felt weird then getting together in the beginning and cringey but later it was cute.

Vegas and Pete. Oh mg god. Ultimate favorite but horribly wrong in the beginning and fucked. There was always some weird chemistry with them. I love how Vegas changed even in the end when he came to the main house I still didn’t hate him. Cuz the time he spent with Pete made me not hate him anymore.

So I need like another series for Pete&vegas and also like Kim & Chay

Lives up to the expectations?

I very much vividly remember how excited I was for the series to air when I only got snippets and how I felt my heart drop when it got cancelled. And then the unspeakable relief when the series got picked up by some other company.

It has to be said that my expectations were SUPER high based on the trailers, so it was really gonna be hit or miss. I read a couple of reviews and comments here and got a little less excited to begin the series, because they were quite bad.
I must express how happy I am that I didn't decide not to watch this, because it would be such a waste!

Yes, KinnPorsche doesn't make sense here and there, but those things are just something I don't mind considering the fact that this series was created for pure entertainment and damn, people, it's from the mafia background, how realistic or how much sense that should make? Come onnnnn.

Overall, do I recommend this series? YES. Does it live up to the expectations? Despite not being completely perfect, YES, it does.

Ca change des BL ordinnaires

J'ai regardé cette série il y a un an maintenant lors de sa sortie et je peux maintenant en dire ce que j'en ai pensé avec du recul.

La story line est bien, bien que le manque de personnages féminins soit un peu bizarre, on s'y habitue. Une histoire de mafia, de dettes, de familles brisées et j'en passe, chaque épisodes de cette série est un vrai rebondissement dans l'histoire. Entre bagarre, rivalité, mensonge c'est sur que vous ne vous endormirez pas devant un épisode. Si j'ai beaucoup aimé l'histoire il n'empêche que je suis en beef avec certains personnages qui m'ont bien soulé dont il faut que je parle.

Commençons par Kinn, qui est de loin l'un des personnages que je n'aime pas. Pourquoi ? Peut être parce que c'est violeur, un manipulateur et un égoïste prêt à tout pour avoir ce qu'il veut -soit Porsche- ? Oui ! Ok son personnage est important (son nom est carrément dans le titre) mais qu'il est lourd !

Porsche… il est de loin le personnage que j'ai le plus eu envie de secouer et lui faire comprendre que Kinn n'est pas bon pour lui. Je l'ai -personnellement- trouvé idiot, et vraiment vraiment inutile. Une vrai plante verte.

Porchay un petit gars bien mignon, même si son obsession pour P'Wik est flippante et lourde, je lui laisse le bénéfice du doute parce qu'il est jeune mais son affaire de chansons là m'a gonflé. J'avais quand même l'impression que son personnage était infantilisé, ils traitaient tous Chay comme ci était très jeune pourtant il allait rentrer à l'université et était un jeune adulte, j'ai trouvé ça très dérangeant et bizarre. Sinon j'ai eu beaucoup de mal avec lui car c'est un personnage qui pleurait beaucoup pour Kim, mais j'ai été ravie de le voir passer à autre chose et se rebeller pour qu'on ne e traite plus comme un petit garçon. Merci Chay !

Pete… le meilleur ami de Porsche, le mec marrant qui donne des conseils au nouveau pour éviter qu'il ait des ennuis… Je pensais qu'il ne serait qu'un personnage secondaire mais il s'avère que lui aussi à son histoire et qu'elle se développe -trop rapidement à mon gout- vers la fin de la saison. Si je dois dire quelque chose concernant Vegas Pete serait… where ? when ? Je comprend très bien l'idée, Vegas voit Pete comme quelqu'un d'inutile jusqu'à ce que celui-ci s'infiltre chez eux pour avoir des infos sur la minor family, mais les deux là ont eu aucunes interactions depuis le début donc 5 pauvres épisodes où on les voit se rapproché c'est un peu limite. Mais le voir tomber dans les bras de Vegas alors qu'il était encore bien traumatisé de ce qui lui était arrivé m'a énervé, leur histoire est allé beaucoup trop vite et quand on regarde les épisodes on a l'impression que Pete passe une semaine grand max de torture chez Vegas et qu'il est juste atteint du syndrome de Stockholm. Tomber dans les bras de son bourreau après que celui-ci pleure fasse à la mort d'un hérisson sans nom (même si c'est beaucoup plus profond que ça en vrai je sais) je trouve ça limite limite.

Concernant Vegas, c'était l'un de mes personnages préférés, je savais qu'il était manipulateur mais j'ai quand même cru qu'il était vraiment amoureux de Porsche. Il est difficile de savoir à quoi il pense et c'est qui a rendu les révélations meilleures. J'ai beaucoup aimé son côté hypocrite et calculateur (même si j'ai eu un peu de peine pour Tawan quand il a tout découvert). A propos des tortures affligés à Pete… bon sans commentaires.

Tankhun, pas grand chose à dire sur lui sauf que s'il n'avait pas été là, la série aurait été plate.

Wik aka Kim aka Kimhan, le jeune frère de Kinn & Tankhun, celui qui a déserté la maison familiale pour s'essayer à une carrière de détective en souhaitant connaitre les secrets de sa famille. Dès le départ je n'ai eu aucune confiance en lui, pour moi il était juste le petit frère rebelle qui ne veut pas entrer dans les affaires familiale mais… ma vision à changé quand j'ai vu que malgré ce que l'on pourrait croire il avait vraiment des sentiments pour Chay (même si Porchay ne voulait plus de lui) et que ce n'était pas simplement un Sherlock des bac à sables qui manipule pour avoir des réponses à ses questions. J'aimais bien son côté énigmatique, même si ça n'a abouti a rien au final.

En conclusion c'est une bonne série, le mystère continue même si c'est un peut tirer par les cheveux.

A great start, unpolished end

The series was fantastic, started off really well. The push and pull between the main characters really worked. However, it really bugs me that no-one realised that Pete was suffering from the Stockholm Syndrone.... It was just completely overlooked... Shocking, but not surprising because this series just glosses over hell of a lot of things. But overall, it is worth a watch. I especially like Porche and Kinn's smile is a killer!!! But honestly, it's Vegas's English and his accent that gets me going.... Oooh !!! The heat it generates... Especially when he says to Pete, 'Do you know how sexy you are?' God knows I want someone to say that to me!!!
