After a while of not being hooked into any drama, this drama series was a refresher for me. It continuously made me more excited for the upcoming Fridays and Saturdays as these were the days when new episodes premiered. I just finished the series this morning, and here are my thoughts about this drama:Story/plot: -9- The storyline had many cute moments between the characters, and there was not really any huge climax or conflict that lasted for several episodes. This plot was, more or less, very bubbly and cutesy with many squealing moments; it felt as if the main characters were living in their honeymoon phase the entire time due to the amount of innocence they had. Unlike with other Chinese dramas, I did not feel like the middle was intensely dragged out and was instead filled with more sweet and funny moments. Now, for the ending. Yes, the ending was a good ending, so that was a plus; however, I did not feel like it was a satisfying one. I felt the last few large events, starting with Si Tu Mo visiting Gu Wei Yi in Germany, were too rushed and had holes in between. The last scene with their kid though... glad they had a kid, but the kid seemed like he was 5 years old meaning the viewers just lost 5 years right there! It is understandable why they can't fit everything in 24 episodes, but compared to the rest of the drama, I felt the ending could have used more attention when it was made/directed. The hidden egg scenes at the very end of most of the episodes were cute considering the viewers were able to see some scenes from Gu Wei Yi's point-of-view.
Acting/cast: -9- The height difference between Gu Wei Yi (played by Lin Yi) and Si Tu Mo (played by Fair Xing) is absolutely adorable; it reminds me, and probably many others who watched, so much of A Love So Beautiful with Jiang Chen (Hu Yi Tian) and Xiao Xi (Shen Yue). Gu Wei Yi is a physics genius/nerd who sincerely cares for Si Tu Mo, both before and especially after they started dating. There were many times when he was clueless about how to please her or what to do in a relationship, so he had to search them on the internet which was cute and funny to watch. Lin Yi's acting could use some work, but for being the very first drama he acted in, his acting definitely has potential. He is also very attractive, in my opinion! Throughout the series, I had some frustrations and was annoyed with the character of Si Tu Mo, particularly the beginning and towards the end, because of her unwillingness to understand certain situations from Gu Wei Yi's perspective, but overall, her character was still independent and strong. The side characters were ok; they didn't play too much of a role in the drama except for Fu Pei (Xiao Tian Tang) and Wang Shan (Zheng Ying Chen). I enjoyed the character development of Fu Pei after he met Wang Shan, but their last proposal scene felt out of placed and rushed, as well.
Music: -8.5- The music matched the cuteness and bubbly-ness of the drama, so I had no complaints. Although none of the music stood out to me, they fit the flow of the drama. The dog and cat noises throughout the drama were really cute though.
Rewatch value: -8- Honestly, I don't think I can rewatch the entire series from beginning to end, but I might re-watch some cute scenes (there was a lot of those in this drama).
Overall: -9- This drama was definitely a refresher for me in the abundance of dramas, that I can't seem to find interest so much, premiering nowadays. The series kept me on the edge of my seat as I had to patiently wait for the new episodes every Friday and Saturday. The storyline was not extreme and was one that guided the audience through the life of the main character's love story. I honestly didn't have any problems with the storyline until the end, and even then, I am not mad at it.
I recommend this series to those who are looking for a drama with a cheerful and lovey-dovey storyline to wind down, maybe for those who just finished watching a frustrating drama. Sorry this review was a tad more lengthy than I intended, but I wanted to share my thoughts. Hope you enjoyed, and thank you for reading!
Chào for Now!

Once the main couple gets together the drama just becomes very bubbly, cute, loveable and cliche. Also the cat and dog audio effects makes this drama a lot more fun to watch. In the beginning I was upset with the main lead, Si Tu Mo because she wouldn't leave this man who is one out of two most irritating and annoying character in this drama. (The other one is a snitch and I wanted to punch him everytime he raises his hand or snitches on ehem someone.)
Anyways, eventually she began living together with male lead, Gu Wei Yi who taught her how to chase her dreams and come out of her shell. When that happens she's more outgoing and basically wears the pants in the relationship. I grew to love her because she knows what she wants. haha
Gu Wei Yi is an awkward nerd but handsome student. He's quite innocent when it comes to relationships so he's clueless 100% of the time when it comes to how Si Tu Mo is feeling. Needless to say, I enjoyed watching him from not caring about Tu Mo to growing feelings for her. The way he did it was ADORABLE! He respected her boundaries but he can get jealous. haha
There's not much of a plot going on in this drama. Its like a sitcom where you see a life of a couple living together except they start out as "strangers." We see the main leads interact with one another and how they grew close to each other. As well as hanging out with friends, misunderstandings/jealousies, asking advice from friends about love. There's also work related things as well. But overall, nothing tooooo exciting besides the love life of Si Tu Mo and Gu Weiyi. I guess in a way there's nothing that is too memorable for me to fully love this drama aside from the main leads. However, I enjoyed it a lot.
The acting from Fei Xing who plays Si Tu Mo was great! She acted quite well and I love it when she makes her puppy eyes face expression. Gu Wei Yi CANNOT deny that!
The actor who plays Gu WeiYi needs a bit of work. His acting was quite stiff, yeah he's suppose to be awkward but its his acting is just stiff and off to me. Its difficult to explain but it did bother me sometimes when I notice it.
The ending is a happy +1 ending. ;)
I love the transition effects in this drama as well as seeing how Gu Wei Yi does things without the audience knowing initially. It seems to be a trend in cdramas lately. ^^
If you want to watch a campus love story then this is a recommendation for you. If you do not want to watch something that doesn't have much of a plot then its not for you.

This drama is a nice watch at first, but at some points it just gets really boring, esp when they officially get together. I feel like I have nothing more to anticipate from the couple. They get married and even have a child, I don't understand why fans are asking for a Season 2. A new drama with the same couple is better. But i will have to give some merits to Gu Wei Yi. Personally, I think he is quite an original character that I maybe haven't seen in any romcom drama before this; a genius yet a little bit dumb (in a cute way). I love the fact that he is always googling anything that he does not know, very adorable. Overall, despite finding myself getting bored towards the end of the story, I would say that it is still a good light show that you will enjoy admist a busy life, except that 24 episodes is probably too much. I really had high expectations.
Unfortunately I couldn't avoid to notice that something was wrong...
The plot. It didn't exist.
I really mean it. There's literally nothing.
Around ep. 18 I started questioning myself: "Why am I watching this?" or "What is the purpose of all this?".
It's not a good sign. It means that the story leads nowhere. It's really pointless.
Anyway, if you're really looking for something that doesn't require too much commitment, all the monologue that I wrote above will be meaningless for you.
Oh, there's also another thing: Useless scenes.
Tons of useless scenes, as much as you want.
And this is all... It wasn't that bad but not even THAT GOOD.

I absolutely adore this show! In the beginning it felt very much like the stereotypical Asian young-love-drama (e.g. how the two protagonists meet), however, it's done in such an over-the-top way that it's ironic and funny again.
The story is very light-hearted with almost no drama, and definitely no melodrama. The characters are well designed and wonderfully flawed - all of them. Even the male lead (who often is portrayed as flawlessly perfect in dramas) has a number of weaknesses that are believable. Sure, some of those are a bit cliché (the anti-social science genius with an 187 IQ but no idea who the Four Heavenly Kings are; neither in mythology nor pop-culture), but it's still done in a fun and adorable way. A great part of the show is actually about Gu Weiyi trying to eradicate his weaknesses in secret in order to appear cooler and more appealing to Situ Mo. These are often shown in little extra scenes at the end of (almost) each episode and are absolutely fun to watch.
I had a few miniscule issues with the show though, the biggest one being the portrayal of the rigid and overall nasty "Haigui" (=Chin. slang for people who return to China after studying abroad). According to most C-dramas, Haiguis are usually arrogant and aloof. Since I've seen this so often I guess there must be an iota of truth behind this stereotype, though I believe if you're an arrogant Haigui you probably were arrogant before going abroad ... The level of rigidness the Haigui in this drama displays tops even the infamous German rigidness - take it from a GBC ;)
Oh, and lights ... I've seen way worse, but still: PLEASE TURN OFF THE LIGHTS WHEN YOU LEAVE A ROOM! And if you're working at a laptop, and all the overhead lights are on already, do you really need to turn on another desk lamp? #SaveTheEnviroment
Sorry, I got side-tracked ... Here are my top 3 reasons why I recommend this show:
3. All characters are well-crafted and have their individual flaws that they try to overcome, which makes them all the more loveable and relatable. And like in real-life, there are no cartoonish evil people.
2. Since I am horrible at detecting on-screen chemistries, I'll say this instead: the two lead actors work very well together and are visually a cute couple. What's also great is the way they used some of these actors' features like the immense difference in height between the two for comic relief.
1. It has one of the funniest love-confessions I've seen so far, although you'll have to wait till EP 11.
Wow, I wrote way more than I intended ... if you made it this far, THANK YOU very much for reading! Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get a Roomba and name it Yuanyuan (find out in EP 7).

This drama is for people who like:
✓ Fleshed-out, real main characters who have their strong sides and weaker sides but are all entirely human and react as real people do.
✓ A slow-burn and well-built relationship that will make your heart melt and wish you were one part of such a couple.
✓ A ML that is extremely devoted to the FL and will literally do anything he can to make her fall for him (even if sometimes he is really clueless and offbase)
✓ A FL that is cute and energetic, but also smart, hard-working and friendly.
✓ Characters who COMMUNICATE and get straight to the point.
✓ Teasing. Lots of adorable teasing.
✓ ML with a smile that will melt your heart. Speaking of hearts, he throws heart-eyes at Si Tu Mo like he's a pro at it.
✓ A crew of side characters who are people and have their own personalities.
✓ A series that will put a constant smile on your face, to the point that you will feel embarrassed bc??? it's probably not healthy??? to be this happy??? for fictional characters???
✓ Shows like Boss & Me, Love O2O, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, Oh My Venus, etc...
Don't watch this one if you like:
✘Angst. Because this show is THANKFULLY low on it. It's hard enough for two people to fall in love and make it work, they hardly need the heaps and heaps of additional stress and angst most dramas throw in the mix, So if you need that extra extra spice in your relationships, probably go for Boys Over Flowers or the Heirs of something like that haha

16 chapters would have been enough
This drama is nice and warm. Is very romantic and has a lot of cute moments. Main characters are endearing and they develop well. Also, the relationship is nice, there is no much drama regarding it; is very straight forward and not problematic. Music is good. The general aesthetic and styling are awesome. However... it's very slow paced and the plot feels like running in circles at times, because there are not many subplots, mainly in the second half. After they get together there is no much left to be told, but, it goes on... It was a little hard to finish for me, but it was still enjoyableEsta resenha foi útil para você?
It might seem like a drama with many usual tropes of rom-coms, but most of them are introduced in an interesting and fresh way. The love triangle is not as frustrating as it tends to be in this genre and gets resolved in a realistic way. The second lead female is almost non existing and does not affect the main couple in a negative way. Even the accidental kiss happened in a realistic setting.
Don’t let the tags fool you, neither is the female lead naive nor the main lead cold. She is strong willed and tries to fulfill her dreams in an industry she likes while staying positive and mature. Gu Wei Yi is a nice and truly caring guy. He might not be the best communicator and lacks the know-how in romantic relationships, but rather than being cold, it makes him look sweet and innocent.
All the characters were extremely likable, with Lin Zhi Cun being a background MVP who instead of being turned into a pushy guy that goes after a girl ignoring her own feelings, was written as a good person who is willing to help others in his smart and funny ways.
It’s a good drama for an evening when you don’t want to feel burdened with complex plots and many tragic and sad scenes. There are no weird plot twists and no moments that will make your blood boil.

It’s so fluffy and cute every episode and no dumb breakups
I highly enjoyed every part of this story but the second leads were so bad that I skip all of their story. I do love a cliche, romantic, unique, and comedic storyStory:
There wasn’t really any story, but the cute and fluffy situation always make their relationship cuter and stronger. The realization of how much they care for each other was so endearing and romantic. There were many incidents were they share some moments of cuteness in every episode and it’s not bothersome. The jealous moments were cute.
The characters:
I love the character of gu wei Yi and su tu no to move they were so cute together every time they appear on screen. Gu wei yi has a promising future that is read but he almost decided to give up for his love one whole su tumo always provides support for him on every journey. Their love each for each other and support for each other is unimaginable. When he said do the things you love to do, it instantly gives hope for su ti mo and we stand that. The second leads were so bad that’s why the rating is down in the hole. This has one of the best chemistry ever with each of them understanding and supporting each other through hardships.
OST
Such a romantic fluffy cute ost if I have stay. It is properly used every time.
Acting
The acting was fine, and the visuals of both the leads characters were perfect for each other that’s why I ship them so hard that I would buy a yacht for them .

The cinematography is very good and even though the OST is a bit repetitive at times, it's still above average.
All the actors are extremely pretty too, although that's no surprise considering how large a pool China has when it comes to selecting actors.
For comparison's sake, this one is much better than O2O. Comparing it with "A Love so Beautiful" is a bit harder, but I would say that this one wins, because a.) There is no Wu Busong b.) There is no stupid separation plot.

edit: Today, nearly a year after writing this review I have learned that there is a special followup episode that every fan should watch. On MDL it can be found as the "Put Your Head On My Shoulder Special Episode".
edit2: The webnovel has been recommended to me, so I have read that today in 2022. I was told that it's completely different from the drama etc. It was actually quite a surreal reading experience for me, I think "Put Your Head on My Smug Shoulder" would be a fine title for the webnovel :-). Largely the same events happen to people that have the same professions, interests & names, but have COMPLETELY different personalities. The drama is basically a cute fluff, with the leads having really mild personalities. Not in the novel though, the leads are basically cats & dogs quarreling all the time, it's actually quite funny and the novel becomes rather raunchy reaching the later chapters. The only thing that I disliked about the novel is how much worse Fu Pei's character is than in the drama. I don't know which one I like more, probably the drama, because of Fu Pei & the studying abroad thing was handled worse in the novel. Still it's an apples and oranges comparison, it's quite fascinating, how much of a difference the dialog can make, even if the plot is the same.

Okay Okay
This is my first review here and I hate to say that it ain't good.I liked it at first. It was fun and light with the right amount of spice. Though, along the way it made no sense to watch. I watched this for 2-3 days straight then watched 1-3 episodes in the remaining days. It took me almost a week to finish this. There were unnecessary scenes. The Heroine got irritating. No major conflict other than the Hero leaving for only six months which only lasted for 2 episodes. There was no character development which I hate. I didn't gain any lessons. NONE. The only thing that kept me going was the Hero. He's soooo adorable. And I have to add that the supporting roles (Fu Pei and Wang Shan) portray a relationship that can happen in real life. The two main couple? Save it for fiction.
If you only want to watch something that'll make you giddy, this is for you.

Time I will never get back
I decided to watch this C-drama because it only had 24 episode (which is short for C-dramas), but once I got started, I quickly realized that this could have been completed in half the episodes, and it would have made the whole thing more interesting. I felt that this show REALLY needed a different editor, there were some episodes that, once I got to the end, I realized that the entire episode was a complete waste of time. I really felt that a lot of it was like watching paint dry - boring as all get out.I suppose the actors did a good job with what they had to work with. The problem was the script. The main character of Tu Mo was so irritating. First, she'd been liking a boy for years, and that boy was one of the most irritating characters I've seen in a show recently. Then, I couldn't actually see what Gu Wei Yi saw in her. Then, she always seemed to be mad at the male lead for something, but rather than talk to him about it, she did a lot of clomping out of the room, slamming doors, and generally not being very nice to him. She was very immature.
Overall, no chemistry between the leads, too many irritating characters, too much dog and cat sound effects, fish kisses, and multiple unnecessary scenes/storylines.
It was sad for me to realize, after watching this, that most of the C-dramas are along these lines and not, for me, overly enjoyable. Love Me If You Dare and Dating in the Kitchen are the gold standard for me, and I will continue to hope that I happen upon other C-dramas that live up to them.
