This drama is a nice watch at first, but at some points it just gets really boring, esp when they officially get together. I feel like I have nothing more to anticipate from the couple. They get married and even have a child, I don't understand why fans are asking for a Season 2. A new drama with the same couple is better. But i will have to give some merits to Gu Wei Yi. Personally, I think he is quite an original character that I maybe haven't seen in any romcom drama before this; a genius yet a little bit dumb (in a cute way). I love the fact that he is always googling anything that he does not know, very adorable. Overall, despite finding myself getting bored towards the end of the story, I would say that it is still a good light show that you will enjoy admist a busy life, except that 24 episodes is probably too much.

I was hooked to watch this drama when I watched a very well-made fanmade video in youtube. And Song Seung Hoon & Shin Se Kyung’s chemistry blends finely so I thought of giving this drama a shot once it finished airing (I usually pick up Kdramas based on the leads’ chemistry and next; the storyline). Despite the comments & reviews of how bad the drama is, I was already determined to put When A Man Loves on my PTW list.

I’m not sure whether WAML features a stereotype storyline or not since I had never yet to watch any Korean melodrama (I did watch a few episode of Nice Guy, but it has been on hold, until now.), thus when I watch WAML, I see the storyline as something new and fresh. Honestly, I couldn’t really expect what would happen next and that somehow kept me going.

About the characters, most of them are all messed up, but it was kind of interesting and I see that as some kind of characters experiment done by the director and scriptwriters. Because it is the first time I’m having a love-hate relationship with characters of a drama. I really liked Han Tae Sang character at the first few episodes, he has that manly look and tough personality yet is very naïve in love, it is sort of cute. So I thought I could like him until the very last episode but sadly, I couldn’t. It reaches a point where his love for Seo Mi Do doesn’t feel innocent anymore, all I could I see was him trying to keep her by her side without even trying to understand her real feelings and dreams. And that just turns me off.

I’m sure lots of audience couldn’t stand with Seo Mi Do character. Me too. But, I somehow could easily put myself into her shoes of why she is being like that. Her character is surprisingly more realistic compared to other Korean dramas’ female leads. If I were in her place, I would not know too of whom to choose.

This story focuses not only on the main characters but also the supporting ones, so it is basically one of this drama’s good points. The acting is generally good. Song Seung Hoon is already a pro; obviously, he did a good job here. Shin Se Kyung, yes, she needs to vary her expression more. And that Chang Hee guy (Han Tae Sang’s right hand), it’s now the time for directors out there to give him a main character- he is one of those actors who knows to convey his emotions perfectly through eyes!

Overall, it is a good drama for me. The only problem is the main characters- they aren’t that likable. Still, it’s a good thing, since they don’t stick to cliché drama characters’ traits.

First, I just want to say I’m a fan of every live action of Itazura na Kiss (except the 1996 version because I haven’t watched it) . So I’m pretty sure I’m not going to be biased, but it seems impossible not to compare hahaha x)

Storyline:
I have no problem with any other adaptations because I love the storyline so muchhh! Even if there are hundreds more remakes, I would watch them just because of the storyline. The story itself is already 23 years old but it never gets old. Salute to Tada Kaoru. Usually I won’t have high hope for Japanese romance dramas or movies. There are some that I like, but most of the couples have zero chemistry. But this drama is an absolute exception- I fell in love with the pair at the first sight, and I’m not at all disappointed :) I saw people were complaining during the airing of episode 11-14, they said the series got draggy. But since I watched this right away after it finished airing, and completed it in just two days (I had lots of work, if not, I could just finish it in one sitting! xD), I didn’t really feel the same. It is nicely paced for me, especially how it illustrates Irie gradually discovering his feelings towards Kotoko- it was very well done. One of my favourite scenes is the rain confession. It was my first time weeping over a love confession lol.

Acting:
All of the casts are unfamiliar to me (I’ve watched Furukawa Yuki in High School Debut & Asuko March! but he was just a minor character. I didn’t notice him that much); some are mediocre and some manage to pull off their characters quite well. But, it is kind of awkward, that most of the times they tend to act so anime-like. I didn’t really mind that, but when I showed some tidbits of the drama to my friends, some of them were completely turned off.

Well, exception has to be given to Furukawa Yuki though. HE IS JUST THE BEST! Even though I didn’t read the manga and just took a little peek into the anime version, I’m very sure that among all of the actors that had played Irie Naoki, he is the best portrayal ever. Korean Irie is forever monotonous, Chinese Irie is too caring, and lastly, the Taiwanese Irie is sort of a tease (but I like him lol! At least I can clearly see his love). Compared to the previous leads, Furukawa is able to retain the perfect nuance of Irie Naoki, without crossing over the line of being too indifferent or too passionate. Despite his baby face, he flawlessly emotes a cold expression which usually won’t fit someone with a face like his. He is basically an ideal image of an ice prince. That unconcerned and slightly jaded look of his is definitely not a turn-off. Every word he couldn't say, Furukawa manages to relay them perfectly through his charming quiet eyes. It is just that the girl is too dumb to realise that hahaa. Anyway I had fun observing his eye gestures and trying to figure out what he is thinking about her :D

Many says Honoka Miki is the best portrayal of Kotoko but since I like other Kotoko(s) too, I don’t have much to say about her. But I really appreciate the fact that the director chooses her; I just can’t imagine the drama with someone else as Kotoko! Honoka evokes a very sweet and lovely image. She might exaggerate at times, but, from the way I feel, she represents many girls’ inner self. I’m sure that every of us would react the same when it comes to our crush, it just that we don’t do that openly ;) And I like that how her character is little bit toned down compared to the previous ones, so it’s very acceptable. Moreover, Honoka expresses the character naturally and it suits the personality of a Japanese girl. I can’t deny it when people that she is the most likable Kotoko so far :)

Music:
Average. But I vividly remember the instrument played during the rain confession scene; the scene itself is already very beautiful but the instrumental makes it hundreds times more beautiful and successfully convey the right emotion to the viewers. The opening song is cute and fluffy, it suits Kotoko so much. I like the ending song too.. it’s just that I can’t really relate it to the drama. Maybe I’ll check the lyric translation later. But I have to say that the Korean and Taiwanese’s OSTs are more memorable.

Rewatch: I’m not a rewatcher, but rewatching this is a must! hehe

(wheu, what a long review. This just proves how much I love this remake! Hahaa)

Okay, first of all, I mainly started this drama after being recommended by a friend. At that time my mind was seriously blown up by Song Joong Ki's acting in A Werewolf Boy, so I guess I would just give this a try.

As its name states, this drama differs from other medical dramas as it strongly focuses on that two particular fields- obstetrics and gynecology. Each episode consists of one or two cases and every case featured is different from each other.

If we talk about emotion dealing with mothers and babies, this drama excellently conveys that. Almost every single episode will not fail to make you tear up. It doesn't just open up audience's eyes to how these fields work, but also the sacrifice done by the parents and not to forget, of how annoying mothers-in-law can be; they just deteriorate the pure images of being mothers and I would be seriously upset if that really reflects on the reality.

Being such a serious drama, having some romance being slipped into is such a relieve, so I really love the love story of Joong Ki and his nurse girlfriend. They are just so innocently cute- it feels like there are suddenly bubbles, butterflies and scent of cotton candies whenever they are on the screen :3

However, the main couple is a pure failure. I like them, but not as a couple. Age gap is not a problem for me, but there is just something lacking between them that I'm not sure of what it is.

The actors aren't that familiar but they all did a good job being doctors and nurses- each of them! Not to forget how they really show how the surgeries go and the usage of 'real' organs; that just amuse me because not that many medical drama actually show that.

Music- there is a song I remember which goes like..you're my everything..~ but I don't know the title lol. and I didn't really pay attention to other side background sounds but since they didn't bother me, they must have been added nicely to fit in the situations.

It's a must watch for medical drama lovers or anyone who aspires to become a pediatric, gynecologist, etc. Or maybe you just want to take a peek into something new, this would be a good pick!

The movie is generally nice but it has nothing special with storyline. Sometimes, things seem to be rushed. The chemistry between the two leads is cute- it makes up for everything that is lacking. But I think the progression of their relationship is kind of fast-paced. It could have been a little bit slowed down so the romance tension would be more nicely built.

I have no problem with any character, they are all likable. But most of the supporting characters they don’t serve any significant purpose for being there. It is kind of a waste.

Anyway, this would be a right choice if you want something light and sweet with little conflicts.

I do not have much to say about the movie. It had never been on PTW list at the first place, so I was kind of watching it without ample idea of what story it would tell about. Even the title itself does not really suggest anything about the storyline.

However, i would just say that this movie is one of those movies, which out of the ordinariness, can still touch your heart deeply. It is not that dramatic; there are tons of movies out there that would make you cry hundreds times more but this one can tear you up anytime as you witness the beautiful journey of the love between a mother and daughter. There were times where tears just unexpectedly rolled down my cheek.

Acting was generally satisfactory. The little girl looked familiar, then I found out that she is the girl in Korean remake of The Queen's Classroom. I didn't watch that drama though, but knew her from the ost MV (her face resembles Exo’s D.O so much, it stuck to my mind hahaha). She seemed talented, but I couldn't judge her just from the MV, but this movie proved her talents. At such young age, her acting was not awkward at all. It was very natural!

The music doesn't stand out- nothing memorable I guess. But not to the point it damages the beauty of the story. How the movie being told though, could have been better. It was just too mediocre. Anyway it’s worth a try!
