BE PREPARED

I watched Moonlovers in 2018 and when I reopened my dramatist account I realized it's also my profile pic, so given the fact that I also did a rewatch I need to review this drama.

Also I was very not surprised by seeing that the reviews for Moon Lovers are either a 10/10 or a 4/10, cause this drama is a all in or not, I recommend to not drop it after the few first episodes cause the drama hits in the middle in my opinion.

So Moon Lovers is on my top five of fav dramas and that because it was a really heart wrenching story that literally made me binge watch the whole thing in two days and i could rewatch it again till 6 year later this year, if you don't like historical dramas try it, if you like enemies to lovers try it, if you like obsessed kind of love try it, however if you are not ready to suffer don't do that.
chemistry 10/10, I do believed they loved each other in real life.
music is still engraved in my memory.
The cast is sooo rich and on point.
i recommend this drama I need to share this suffering with more people!

why yall dissing this so much?

i finally got around to watching this series n I remember people on tumblr/x/reddit and here bashing this.

but I gotta say this aint as bad as yall are making it out to be imo.

the acting was great. They're renditions of the og characters were good. it was entertaining and has some really good songs in there.

sure, the product placements were every 10 minutes, but hey, it's what helps them makes these shows, so I aint complaining.

my only tiff is with the mothers but I always feel indifferent when it comes to moms on thaibls so it's not rly a drawback either.

yall complaining about lack of plot. does every bl need some big plot to be enjoyable? I don't think so. this series is great just the way it is.

also I loved mudmee's father. dudes manic giggle when he was threatening half was the highlight of the series for me.

This made me start watching k-dramas again after a 4 years hiatus!

(this review could be biased by the fact that I actually imagined myself having children with that Man)
let's start by the most important factor that made this drama that good, THE ACTING, Woo Do Whan was too good I was feeling all the distress he was feeling, he is such a great actor that many times is judged only by his (EXTREMELY) good looks but he was outstanding and he should get more reconignotion for that, also the chemistry between the main couple was such a different vibe from the one they usually deliver in K-dramas, it was like they actually were a couple that were in love but then broke up but still love each other, and it's shown in the way they are not embarrassed and they feel very comfortable with each other.
The plot was cool but very tragic and made me stare at the wall thinking about how I am wasting my life not making the right choices.
The music choice was unexpected in the most positive way, California dreaming is stuck in my head rent free.
I would recommend this drama 100000/10 cause it's also the reason I am now starting watching dramas again. <3

Worth watching, so far

I agree with the doctor, not necessarily the teachers. Not everyone has an extroverted personality. As long as they perform the job well, they shouldn’t be expected to conform to someone else’s standards. The biggest problem is the teacher that involves herself in everyone else’s business, but basically accomplishes nothing special herself. The fact that she feels she has the right to question a doctor’s methods while having no medical experience herself, makes her seem a bit self righteous. That’s so annoying. Hopefully things get better as the story progresses.

Thank God I am done watching this!

Two couples, all four good-looking. The first half focuses on Phayu and Rain, with Phayu being clearly the seme. The second half focuses on a similar-dynamic couple, with Pai being the seme, and Sky being the uke. The ukes are both in university studying architecture, while the semes are both working, and are friends due to being motorcycle racers.nk

Pros:
1. Liked the couples always touching, kissing, etc.
2. Liked that the ukes, while still being coy sometimes about admitting their crush/love, still ask for sex.
3. The second couple is very good-looking.
4. Nice work on the motorcycle racing, the crowds, and the drone shots.
5. Some people did not like the ukes being called wifeys and [the seme's] "my boy", but I loved it.
6. The couples touched a lot, and sex scenes were explicit for Thai BL. I loved those.
7. I liked some of the dub-con and non-con and shady wooing techniques. Examples are mostly with Phayu and Rain, as Rain seems to have ultimately enjoyed them, and was never really against the non-con. I frequently fantasize about such myself, where they both really want it.
8. Loved the spanking scene. Wish there had been more of it. Lots of similarly arousing scenes.

Cons:
1. The second half is full of how Pai is a stalker cum harasser. He cannot take NO for an answer from Sky, and is not above using emotional blackmail, stealing of Sky's room key, bribing of Sky's apartment manager, and using fake phone numbers after his own number got blocked. He went too far.
2. The rape scenes -- both in the present and in the flashback. These were real non-consensual sex, and I dislike those very much. I could not watch them.
3. The kidnapping of the ukes -- Rain's was sort of boring, and Sky's was horrible to watch.
3. Dragging second half that I had to fast-forward through very often. Repetitive scenes at the race track and elsewhere.

Overall, the second half was so bad that I had to give this series a low rating. I don't think I will rewatch it at all. I am a gay man, btw, and not a young het woman. I ff-ed through TharnTypes rape stuff also. I think I had best be careful with Mame's works.

A wonderful and hilarious adventure with lovable characters

Wow, what a journey! This drama was a breath of fresh air. It was hilarious and heartfelt and wonderful. The fantasy elements and world building were superb, the characters were so lively and I cared so deeply for them. I really, really loved this drama and the FL was so cute and funny, I really liked her and she was the perfect cast. As were the rest of the main characters too, they were perfect. This story was well written and I loved it, but it drag a little towards the end and took a bit more time to finish than the first 20 or so episodes which I absolutely flew through because I could not stop watching. Be sure to give this drama a chance if you like fantasy and demons, enemies to loversesque relationships (although not quite enemies, just a bit of the dynamic) and found family!

Mr. Plankton é um dorama muito bom

Um dos melhores doramas que assisti este ano. No começo, pensei que não seria algo que me interessaria, mas, ao longo dos episódios, comecei a me envolver muito e me identifiquei com o relacionamento dos protagonistas. Meu relacionamento é parecido com o deles. Achei esse dorama lindo e cheio de momentos especiais. Dá para sentir o amor, e o coração fica bem quentinho.
Mr. Plankton demonstra muito bem a história do Haejo, como ele sofreu ao longo de sua vida e, no final, encontrou a felicidade ao lado de sua amada, de seus amigos e de seu pai. Ele percebeu que seu pai realmente se importava com ele e nunca o esqueceu. Infelizmente, ele não sobreviveu, mas o final foi perfeito e bem triste. Se tivesse 10 episódios a mais, eu certamente assistiria.
O final sempre gera várias teorias em nossa mente. Se eu tivesse a escolha de voltar no tempo e não assistir a esse dorama, eu não faria isso; assistiria muitas outras vezes. Muito bom, amei todo o elenco!

-Quizás la realidad podría ser incluso mas hermosa que el cuento de hadas

Siento que tuvo de todo pero aun asi algo me dice que pudo haber sido mejor, es una historia digamos normalita (una madre que no acepta la pareja de su hijo, su hijo tomando distancia y tratando de recuperar a la chica etc.) nomas con esta novedad de que ella acepta romper con el y asi, digamos que como hasta el cap 5-6 yo sentía que era la misma formula, ella diciéndole que terminaran el no aceptándolo (a veces si) pero que al final terminaban involucrados nuevamente y tenían que hacer el proceso de terminar/alejarse de cada uno de nuevo y asi y la vd que llego un momento en el que yo creo que me sentía mas frustrado yo que los protagonistas pero que después de ciertas cosas ya la serie va en escalada y que al final me termino gustando.

Ha Yun Seo y Seo Ju Won ambos me cayeron bien, un poco mas Yun Seo en algunos aspectos si se veía como que ella estaba mas aterrizada a las cosas, tmb ambos me estresaron bastante y es que me estresaba que Ju Won fuera de que es que no puedo terminar contigo pero haciendo retrospectiva pues básicamente era porque no podía dejar ir al amor de su vida y al final es algo que me gusto, que el en ningún momento pensó en salir con alguien mas o asi, el siempre tuvo claro que tenia que ser ella y ps es casi lo mismo con ella y es que al principio me la plantearon muy empoderada y dijo todavía lo fue a lo largo de la serie pero siento que bajo un poco pero se entiendo pq es lo mismo el es el amor de su vida.

Seo Si Won y Lee Mi Jin como pareja secundaria siento que en los últimos caps están muy igualados con los protagonistas y es que su historia es mas "chistosa" o se desenvuelve de esa manera pero terminaron siendo super carismáticos y los acercamientos/atenciones que van teniendo le va agregando mucho ya una vez que se plantean el que ya no sea tanto como un matrimonio arreglado pq ya se están enamorando es de mis cosas favoritas, me hubiera gustado ver mas escenas de ellos 4 o de Lee Mi Jin y Ha Yun Seo pq estoy de acuerdo en que se llevarían muy bien.

Como secundarios
-Ha Ji Suk el hermano menor de Ha Yun Seo y algo que no mencione mas arriba ps el toda esta parte del pasado de ambos que para mi fue lo mas interesante y que si nos hayan dicho que onda con sus padres lo hizo mas real por asi decirlo, en gran parte porque te ayuda a entender a Ha Yun Seo, siento que me falto ver mas de su relación como hermanos pero tengo que decir que llore cuando Ha Ji Suk le dice que ella ha sido su mamá y su papá tienen momentos bonitos pero me falto, esta parte de Ha Ji Suk cuando esta en este "problema" y que nos dan esa primera escena es muy wow, tmb cuando se nos dice que Ha Yun Seo nunca llora pero ya por todas las emociones no resiste y se rompe me calo.
-Lee Seong Min sin duda mi personaje favorito en esta serie que para mi si la pareja secundaria sentia que opacaba a los protas el tmb lo hacia para mi y es que a mi desde el primer momento me cayo demasiado bien, su actitud super relajada y tmb que hasta el mismo se dijo que el pensaba que era el príncipe pero que termino siendo el hada madrina, obvio tambien nos muestran su pasado y el como Ha Yun Seo influyo demasiado en su vida a partir de la llamada por accidente, agradezco que no hicieran con el esto de dos hombres pelean por la prota que mas o menos fue pero siento que fue mas por parte de el para volver a juntar a los protas y al final termino siendo super buen amigo de ambos creo que si es de mis momentos favoritos cuando se hace amigo de Seo Ju Won tmb estuvo chistoso cuando le dijo que estaba interesado en ambos, tiene tantas cosas este personaje que para mi fue mi protegido.
-Kim Son Ju la Mamá de Seo Si Won y Seo Ju Won, la vd que no se que decir de ella, siento que tmb empezó como que muy empoderada de que yo controlo todo y asi se la paso la mayor parte de la serie y no es hasta que pasan ciertas cosas que decide aceptar a Ha Yun Seo para mi este personaje termino en nada litera.
-Bae Jang Hui, No Ye Yeong, Kim I Rae y Lee Jae Ha pongo a los cuatro juntos aunque los primeros 2 son como amigos del trabajo y los otros 2 de su vida personal pero ambos son un poco de lo mismo, te caen bien, unos son chistosos sus interacciones (los primeros 2) y los otros son como los consejeros y el apoyo al que recure Ha Yun Seo (los últimos 2) pero en general cumplen.

Una serie mas o menos corta considerando que la mayoría de k-dramas los hacen de 12 - 16 capítulos pero chistosa y bonita de ver, siento que es de esas series que puedes poner cuando no sabes que ver pq en general te deja satisfecho.
La frase del titulo es del cap. 10.
Otra posible frase que pude haber puesto fue "Adelante y vive como una autentica cenicienta" pero idk cual quede mejor.

HAHAHAHHA it's more than spicy! it cointains shockness, hotness all together. if you ever watch Yang Yang at Love O2O kissing scene, this one uyyo hahahha same goosebumps i got but in this series the scene really hot + sweet. there is one episode i think the PD is taking revenge on us. HAHAHAHAH I literally can't breathe for that one episode cause the eps full kiss scene. i almost drop my lungs. I dont even have time to breath. HAHAHAH watch it and you'll know. it's not just empty kissing scene but the real sweet and heartwarming one. (Im jealous heh :{ ... MOMMM I WANNA MARRRYYY, FEEL SO SINGLE AFTER WATCH THIS THO

Story: OMG i started with 50% expectation. i never thought i got 100. nope 150. nope.. 10 times percent from i expected!! it surprisingly so good. As it balance comedy + romance + angst so well and divided it with right portion for this genre. I mean for this 'Love Unexpected' series (don't compare it with others) it has 10% angst, 50% romance , 40% comedy. let me tell you! It's rare! cause the romance and comedy is real here! you will know it if you watched first 5 eps tho HAHAHAHH plus.. the good romance which you will hardly found is waiting for you after eps 15! kyaaaa.. just remember their scene makes me wanna scream.

Acting/Cast : P.E.R.F.E.C.T ! perfect actors for each role! oh damn the emotions i got from this drama is like roller coaster. my mom literally ask me ' Woi! Mad already ah?' hahahahha Each eps i excited waiting what will happen next. ( When you watched many dramas you can guess what will happen next.. but in this drama even i know, but i cant help seeing how the actors will deliver the scene. do the comedy there? will i got some good fluffy romance? or will this eps make me irritated) All actor and actress did a well done job but ML got my respect! IT'S NOT EASY WOHHHHH. He's someone emotionless (illness) but amazingly we (viewer) could feel his 1001 emotions. IT STRAIGHTLY DELIVERED OUT FROM THE SCREEN! he deliver his scene so good with maintain emotionless face.

Music: HOH! just heard the opening song will bring you ideas how this drama will lead you to. sometimes we just need to follow what flow has been served to us. take the message, enjoy the plot, the drama, the ridiculous, the madness, the joy, the hotness, the angst. it will give you emotional ride cause *each* eps literally executed well with complete taste. The ending song is sang by the ML himself. It's so good and good applied in the drama tho. I CRIED! and give big applause to the effort of editing tho. The sound effect really MVP hahaha . the scene already funny add on the sound effect..WASSEHHH i can't stop laughing.

A young cellist + her father’s doctor find an unexpected love.

This couple… *sigh* 💝

The friendship they form, the bond they develop, the love they discover - gahhh, it’s all so beautiful!! The Leads have amazing chemistry and I love watching them fall for each other with every interaction they share. From their first tense interactions to their slowly growing friendship. Then as she’s completely clueless to his hints & he’s uncertain how to woo her. There are so many memorable scenes!! That one where she has an allergic reaction & the way he responds?? SWOON!!! 🫠🫠🫠

Okay, I could gush forever. Onto other things I really like about this.

The ML never looks down on the FL because of her age, nor does he overpower her with his opinions about things. He never tries to control or manipulate her, never demands she change. He loves her exactly as she is and always encourages her to chase her dreams - he’s a total green flag 💚

The FL, in turn, is so supportive of the ML’s career. She doesn’t make unfair demands on his time, nor does she try to guilt him when emergencies arise that cause him to bail on/be late for plans with her. She’s a steady source of love and care for him to depend on. One who makes the ML take notice immediately and set out to pursue and cherish her. She’s totes girl crush worthy 😍

I truly love this drama. I love how they bring the best out in each other. In the safety of the ML’s love, the FL matures & flourishes in her personal & professional life. And under the influence of the FL’s cheerfulness, the ML experiences carefree & happy moments. They have a mutual respect & appreciation for each other that really shows how beautiful love can be. How beautiful it SHOULD be.

Even when stuff comes up or they have misunderstandings/lover’s spats, they both work to understand each other & meet in the middle. Yes, it’s more often the ML guiding the way due to his age & life experience, but the FL is always trying to be an equal partner for him. And I really like how the love rivals are dealt with. In both cases (SML pursuing FL & SFL chasing ML) the ML handles it so well. The scene of his confession in front of his colleagues… perfection! Absolutely adore the way he was only concerned about the FL’s feelings, not what it would look like to his superiors nor how it would affect the SFL. And the way he chased after her - gahhhh!!! He’s such a winner!!

Another thing I think was done very well is their reconciliation. 1) it wasn’t drug out for lots of episodes. 2) in their pain, they didn’t lash out or try to hurt one another (ie: try to make one another jealous, lie that they’re totally fine, etc.) 3) when they reconcile, it’s done. They don’t hold grudges, use past mistakes as a weapon or tool of manipulation, or cast blame. It happened, an apology was made, forgiveness was given, they’re still very deeply in love, and that’s that. Kudos, writer(s)!!

Their moments together are adorable and their kisses make your heart just melt 🫠 If you haven’t watched this yet, you’re totally missing out on experiencing a beautiful love story 🫶🏻

24eps isn’t enough!!

A sweet love story between a shy girl & the smartest boy in class.

Her family has just moved to town & she’s feeling awkward & misplaced. Thankfully, she quickly makes new friends who help her settle in at school. Much to her mother’s annoyance, though, she’s not a top student. She’d rather lose herself in her artwork than study for hours. But as she grows closer to the ML, she’s inspired to get serious about her studies & plan for the future. Her college entrance exams don’t go well, though, so she’s left behind to try again while her closest friends move onto the next phase of life. Will she be able to remain strong & keep trying when the people who helped her make it through each day are no longer by her side?

He’s always been popular & good at everything. School comes easy to him & he’s on the path to pursue his dreams at college. Those plans expand to include the FL, though, as they interact more & their feelings grow. But will their bond survive when they’re separated by distance? When familial tragedy strikes, he pushes her away in his quest to not cause her further stress. But when his efforts succeed & she no longer seeks him out, he realizes just his much he needs her. Can he win back her affection or are they destined to be just a youthful memory for one another?

This is 1 of my favorite youth dramas. They’re so flippin’ cute together! I love watching their dislike of each other turn into admiration & respect for one another. Their friendship is so beautiful & their bond so pure. I adore watching them become more than friends. The trust, the loyalty, the bff vibes… The way these two love each other is pure couple goals & what I wish every first love could be! 🫶🏻

DYX isn't the lead, good acting but overdramatic script, slow until Ep19 but great twists later.

Things I Like
The picture, camera work, mood, and music are really good. They build up excitement despite the slow progression in the first half of the series. I like the backstory cuts. There are plenty of puzzles, plot twists, and unexpected unraveling, especially in the second half of the series, where it becomes so good. There are a lot of secrets you won't be able to guess, and it keeps you excited to know more.

What Could Be Better
The Plot
The puzzles, plot twists, and unraveling are great. Starting from Episode 19, the story progresses much better. If we were to rate the series from there, it would easily score a 8.5-9.5 because you finally see both the officials and gangsters working together toward the same truths, leading to progress and some success in the investigation. It would have made a huge difference if this had started earlier.

The plot could have been way more interesting if Binbin were the center of the story, connecting business (Wen Zixuan), gangsters (Bao Chen Yan), and officials (Xing Liang), secretly building collaboration and planning the investigation from all sides. I think that was the producers' original intention, but they failed to show it. Instead, it was filled with unnecessary drama and meaningless tension between these three sides—a total waste.

Characters
DYX (Binbin): If you are a fan of DYX, you will be very, very disappointed. Honestly, he is not the main lead—not even close. DYX has very little screen time, and his role is just as significant as Tianyi's, which is purely supportive in the overall investigation. The producers clearly used his name and popularity to lure viewers in. The claim that "the lost gun" is central to the story is the biggest lie in the promo. The story is not about Binbin or his gun. To make matters worse, his character is portrayed as just a spoiled, friendly, and sensitive boy with no charisma as a young, promising police officer. Even when he finds information and evidence, it doesn’t come across as "genius techniques." Instead, it’s just "he’s talkative."

Xing Liang: Xing Liang is not the main lead either. His character is boring, with no depth. He’s simply an inflexible, rigid, and upright police officer—that’s it.

Bao Chen Yan (BCY): The real main lead is Bao Chen Yan. Though labeled a "supporting role," the entire story revolves around him—from his background, his rise to power, his friendships, his enemies, his hopes, his business, and his loved ones. This is not a compliment. It really seems like director going completely wrong direction.

Dian Lao'er is my favorite, and funny. This charactor is perfect, plot and acting.

Character Consistency:
- Characters like Tianyi and Dian Lao'er inexplicably have the same hairstyle and hair color for 10 years.
- They used a young cast for BCY nine years ago but the older cast for scenes 11 years ago. Seriously?
- BCY’s accent feels overly pretentious. Younger BCY seemed much more natural and didn’t act recklessly.

Gangster Credibility: The director fails to convince me that these gangsters or mafia are "cruel." They just hit each other with sticks and tools. Sun Chang Hai running around and jumping off windows is supposed to make him a "skilled assassin" and "tough"? Come on. For people with so much money and illegal activity, not even one of them owns an illegal gun? Ridiculous.

SL and WZX's Daughter: I get that she’s not important to the plot, and we may pretend adults don't allow her to hear about adults' issues, so she stays in her room. But the couple made so many fresh-cooked meals.. lol and she’s not allowed to join them??

Script
The director tries too hard to give the characters complex relationships, but it just makes them annoyingly unreasonable and contradictory.

- When BCY reminded Binbin about his dad's wish for him to be a police officer (a weird obsession in itself), Binbin said, "No one cares whether I am comfortable being a police," but later said, "This is my only goal in life."
- XL is almost useless at times with his favorite line, "This is the rule." I’m fed up with all his blaming Binbin for losing the gun. Binbin was attacked during an operation. He should be given compensation and a new gun, not blamed. Sometimes XL tells Binbin, "Remember, you are still a police with responsibilities/ Find your gun," and other times, "Don't ask, don't come, don't do anything," Like.. what do you what him to do???
- WZX is incredibly annoying. She gets mad at XL for being a crime suppression polic but also gets mad when XL doesn’t help Binbin suspended from police. She never listens to her husband’s advice but later blames him for letting her in danger.

Acting
Most of the actors did well—too well for such a silly plot. From XL's wanting to be the police to prove he can save his family, WZX overconcern about XL's safety being a police, to Binbin don't want to disappoint his late dad. These reasons are not enough to be so emotional. Good acting with these plot only makes them seem overly dramatic over nothing.

As a fan of DYX, I have to admit that some of his scenes made me cringe. For instance, his breakdown in front of BCY felt forced, and his idol-series acting style—with a cute sulky face when arguing with his bros—doesn’t fit this genre. Tianyi sometimes acts more naturally than him. However, DYX’s acting improves over the course of the series. I was particularly impressed in the final few episodes.

Dian Lao'er with his weird eyes is so good, very believable.

Some of the fight scenes aren’t realistic at all.

However I still feel like I can watch it again.
