Kiyoi broke my heart

You know...halfway through the first season, I thought I hated this. thought it was a waste of time and another useless 10 sec BL drama about a boy who needs to love and stand up for himself and an asshole who needs to be punted into the sun.

Like, what was the point of this damn story? Hira needed to separate from Kiyoi and they both needed therapy to deal with their issues before even attempting to tie another person to their respective baggage.

However, with the addition of the 2nd half of s1 and the 4 episodes that are s2, you get the full picture of the story that's being told. You stop seeing Kiyoi as this perfect being (much like you had been from Hira's perspective) and you see the vulnerable boy who just wants to be loved and have someone to come home to.

It isn't perfect. It isn't about fluffy love and it's miraculous ability to cure all ailments. it's about 2 incredibly mismatched people who want different things from their relationship and each other yet neither is able to live without the other as they both fill the void left in them by the world so they choose to exist together.

Kiyoi needs love and attention and Hira is a voyeur in the world. He feels most comfortable on the outside, looking in and basking in the glory of Kiyoi's greatness.

In the end, the relationship is still incredibly unhealthy because Kiyoi is never going to be loved by Hira the way he needs. does he appreciate the fawning and adoration? yes, it was what drew him to Hira in the first place but that same adoration has now become a massive bridge separating Kiyoi from Hira.

A relationship is meant to be a partnership but when one's a God and the other feels best suited to worship him, how are they meant to grow together?

the ending did promise a step towards a change in the flow of their relationship with Hira finding an outlet for his skills and energy that places him in proximity to Kiyoi as an equal and Kiyoi realizing that simply being in a relationship isn't enough to make Hira his boyfriend and he'd need to be intentional with his words and actions...but we'll never know how things will work out

(this is for both s1 and s2 cause I don't think you can watch or review just the 1st part of this story as it isn't complete.)
