The synopsis really misleads. This Drama isn't romance oriented at all. There are some romantic feelings involved but they stay in the background of the story. The real plot is about the fight of people to reach the highest position of the 'Golden Empire'.

Golden Empire is 'just' a business drama which doesn't mean that the story is boring. The plot actually moves fast and keeps you on your toes. You never know what happens next. The writers always manage to throw a twist into the story. Because Golden Empire is so business oriented the dialogues sometimes are difficult to understand. You really need to pay attention to the stuff happening on the screen. Even so the writing is really well done. But in my case I missed a little bit of romance.

The acting in this drama is outstanding. The cast managed to portrait their characters really well. Even the side characters were amazing.

Overall Golden Empire is a really good Drama. The writing is really well done and the story never goes the way you would expect it to go. I don't think that this is a drama that you would rewatch.

I think this drama is one of the best dramas that aired in 2013.

What I liked the most is that it showed you how korean schools really are. I also liked the interaction the students had with each other. The problems of them seemed realistic too.

When I found out that the writers cut out all of the romance I was kind of dissapointed because I'm a romance addict and liked it in most of the stuff I watched. This also made me a little worried about still likeing the show.

But while watching I didn't notice that the romance was missing because the story really caught my attention espacially because I'm a student myself. Of course that doesen't mean that people that are older can't watch it.

And instead of romance we got to see a lot of bromance.

Overall School 2013 is a rally good drama which gets you hooked from it's first episode and is highly recommendable.
