Training to win in the couch potato category, because eventually tv /Netflix-ing will become an Olympic sport , and I plan to take home the gold.
?I'm more of a political /thriller/suspense drama ,where romance is incidental to the plot and not central . I will still make exceptions for a few romcoms , emphasis on the com ?
?as a rule I'm vary of hyped dramas . I tend to check both the 10/10 reviewers and what the below 5 reviews say. I'm a kinda picky watcher .
? will watch any drama till 1/4th of the way in, before deciding if it's a watch/hold/drop
?my watch lists are pure chaos , someday I'll fix them
? mostly a kdrama watcher , although I am trying to broaden this . Reds are always welcome ?
Things that make me feel like ripping my hair out and smashing the screen in dramas
? love geometry is a HARD NOPE for me. I just don't have the patience for it anymore
?Leads who are actually abusive/ overgrown children , made to look like ? Cold but hero material. True for Both genders
?when leads loose brain cells ,hell their whole entire brains , halfway through the plot . Also especially when the females are working in field "A" , but suddenly all we get are hysterics and melodrama , and BIG FAT zero about the job .
?romance without consent , fish eyed kisses , oh I'm female and therefore so weak and delicate flower -damsel in distress .
?obvious plot holes, sloppy writing .
Things that make me go ?? and recommend it everywhere
??layered , well paced , structured plots . If they have potential connections to art/music/literature I can make , all the better ?
? well written, realistic , characters who while showing growth /development , don't make me wonder who the hell this person is , because I don't recognise the character at all. Doesn't even have to be good or the leads . Just well written , rounded characters.
?soft spot for morally grey leads , who engage in questionable choices. Even better if its not just for the aesthetic ?
?leads who are strong in an emotional sense as well /or physical sense
? cliches and plot twists that are used effectively .
? chemistry not just between the leads, but in a way that the whole cast somehow hangs together
?happy endings , but also well done open ended /depends on your take endings
How I Rate Dramas:
When I'm watching older dramas , I try to view it in context/relation to the era it was made in , and not judge it by our standards today. I try to compare them with similar dramas from the time period .
All dramas start out with a minimum of 2 stars for me,
?1⭐️ For the crew/production/costume/actors and 1⭐️ For the writer/director just for sheer effort for having made it.
☃️anything below a 7.5 from me has been a let down in terms of plot/acting/pacing/genre representation /plot twists /overall chemistry/ the ending was badly done /
☃️I only rate dramas 10/10 if they have an absolutely rewatch the whole series again , and not just in bits and pieces . Which is why most of my mysteries tend to be between 8/9.5
