Very similar with the palace and political conflicts. Both the male and female lead characters are or become righteous and influential with strong moral compasses. Both female leads may seem weak at first but they quickly change and become strong, quick thinking, decisive, and upright women. Both men show loyalty and bravery.
If you enjoy a well constructed plot and characters you can really root for; not just the leads but also many of the people surrounding them; then you will love both these series.

If your favorite thing about Why R U is Fighter and Tutor's chemistry then I highly recommend Love Mechanics for Mark and Vee's chemistry. Vastly different stories but keeps you addicted because of how well the two pairs play on screen.
Both shows are set in university with Fighter and Tutor as well as Mark and Vee in the engineering faculties. Both touch on familial expectations of their sons liking boys. Both have really good looking casts. And in both couple's stories it is pretty angsty and dramatic. Not a smooth ride for either one to find a happy ending.
Why R U has a broader cast and follows two main couples as they navigate changes in their feelings and expectations on them. Personally I watched this show specifically because of Zee and Saint's performances. The way they portray Fighter and Tutor and their unbelievable chemistry really carried this show for me.
Love Mechanics follows Mark and Vee that have a drunk one night stand that leads to both finding feelings for each other. The problem is that Vee is already in a relationship and is struggling with coming to terms with his blossoming feelings which often leads to him hurting Mark.

While these two are dramatically different shows the thing they have in common is how they make you feel as a viewer. They both will give you the warm and fuzzies and make you swoon over the incredibly green flag men in them. Both also showcase students and music.
Only Boo features Moo who dreams of becoming an idol but that dream often overshadows anything else including his studies so his mom sends him to a small town to complete his senior year without distractions. There he meets Kang, a kind hearted and generous boy that sells rice and curry. Moo's sweet chase of Kang while Kang pushes Moo to improve himself is the cutest thing to watch and will leave silly little smiles on your face for days.
Twinkling Watermelon is a bit of a fantasy where Eun Gyeol who wants to be a musician and join a band travels back in time to meet his parents at his age. Eun Gyeol is a hearing child to two deaf parents and he finds out that his father did not lose his hearing until his 18th year which is when he travels in time to meet him. SO Eun Gyeol makes this mission to help his dad and prevent the accident that took his hearing. Their interactions with each other and the brotherly love with the band they create will make you giggle constantly. There are two love stories also portrayed but the most of the story is about his relationship with his father and learning and growing himself.
Both give the same kind of vibe and include a great sound track.

Fortune Writer is a mini series while Romance of Tiger and Rose is a full length series but they have a similar vibe where the main character is written to be the villainess of the story destined to die quickly and horribly. In both the main character knows the story and chooses to go against the plot to change her own fate. In doing so she slowly starts to become the protagonist of the story and the sister that was meant to be the heroine becomes darker and villainous instead.
The villanness in both stories is given a chance to rewrite her story and as she writes her wrongs and becomes a better person the person that was meant to originally be the protagonist becomes meaner. There must be a Yin to the Yang. Both main characters know the events that are supposed to happen and find a way to change them keeping themselves alive.
Fortune Writer is a mini series with the main character realizing she is fated to be the villain and die horribly but is determined to change her fate. In Scent of Love is a full length series where the main character travels back in time and determines to change her fate.
Very similar vibe from both with main characters you can't help but fall for.

Both dramas have female lead goes back in time and falls for the male lead.
Lovely Runner has more of the mystery element and she gets several chances to go back like in Shining for One Thing while in Parallel Love she goes back but tries to return to her time and accidently falls for the main lead. In both dramas the male lead finds out that she is from the future and her past and future selves may feel differently about him but they are willing to wait for years to meet her again in her time.

Both have great chemistry between the leads, both have bubbly and extroverted female leads, both have smart male leads, both have a supportive group of friends with all different interests, and both have many comedic moments.
Differences are that When I Fly Towards You is more of a romance than My Calorie Boy as the female lead spends the whole series chasing the male lead and her crush is obvious and adorable to watch while My Calorie Boy has a better best friends kind of base for their relationship. When I Fly Towards You also does a much better job of transitioning through time from their highschool to college to adult lives while in contract My Calorie Boy is almost exclusively just about highschool.
But if you were attracted to the friendships or the slice of life feel then I think you would enjoy both of these.

These two carry a very similar vibe. If you like a male lead that is strong, loyal, decisive, and a bit of a kingmaker then you'll like both of these dramas. Romance in both is more of a side plot than the main focus while political conflicts and rebellions take the center stage. Both have female leads that stand on their own and do not need the men to save them. They both also have an obsessive second male lead.
Major differences are that Journey to love is about a secret mission to save an emperor with a cast of the best from their respective strengths. This motley crew operates in the shadows and are smart, resourceful and the brotherly affection is fun to watch. Destined primarily follows a spoiled rich man as he matures through marriage and the downfall of his family. He and his wife become pillars for their country in their shared loyalty and self sacrifice.
While dramatically different plots I do think that if you enjoyed one then you would probably enjoy the other.

While one is Chinese and the other Korean they reminded me of each other for the growth in the characters. Destined has an immature rich male lead that learns and grows through marriage and a war while My Dearest has an immature rich female lead that suffers through war and grows and changes.
Both dramas have male leads that will do anything for the female lead. Both show the ravages of war on the people and the court. Both have strong and loyal side characters.
Differences are that My Dearest shows a much more gruesome side that can be hard to watch while Destined is more slice of life with hardships sprinkled in. However the character growth in both gives the same kind of vibe to me and I think if you liked one you would probably like the other.
