i think the ending was really fitting
i think the ending was really fitting. Both got punished by the heavens. Kang Min Ki lived 23 lives repenting what he did to the sisters. And once he had made peace he went to Ban Ji Eum. He was ready to accept whatever choice BJE was to make. And Ban Ji Eum only remembered her 1st life in her 19th because her lesson was to learn letting go of people once they're gone, she had to let go of not only her sister but all the people she loved in her 19 lives. Ahh gosh this was so beautiful, i needed this drama :(

no matter how old the film , if it has the power to move you...then its a good film.
breath stopping, that's all i have to say about this movieI watched it for Jo Seung Woo and Soo Ae and this movie being so old I really wasn't expecting anything but....i mean of course there were mild issues with the direction, story writing and those abrupt cuts but like c'mon it was made in 2009
the emotional impact of this movie is so beautiful, very warm and emotional, a melancholic comfort. It almost had me crying in the end
There's one thing about old movies/dramas i really like. They use natural sounds and lights, even the makeup is so bare, no one is trying to be beautiful. It makes the story feel real. I wish film these days would bring that element back.
Anyways, the ending was really moving....And both Soo Ae and Jo Seung Woo are amazing amazing actors, i really felt their characters. No one could've played the characters better than this. No one.
Even if the story was remade today under a better director, i still would want Soo Ae and Jo Seung Woo to be the lead again.
no matter how old the film and however the quality, if it has the power to move you...then its a good film.

the film was thrilling, the acting phenomenal and the Film Direction....!
I'll keep my review short: Historical political fiction + action-thriller direction style = an experimental master pieceThe storyline was really thrilling. Even though i know that it drifted slightly from what history has to say but it was very well written and there was never a single boring moment. What interested me more than the character and story is the direction. Speaking as a film student here, the director used a lot of experimental camera angles here. Stuff that you might see in western action-thrillers but won't see in Korean film and dramas. I was so astonished to see the famous Alfred Hitchcock's "Dolly Zoom"!! And it was so well done gosh! And in sageuk style! I'm probably bookmarking that shot to look back on from time to time. And will probably be looking into other works done by Dir. Park Hee Gon.
The acting was amazing of course considering its Jisung and Jo Seung Woo we're talking about here. JSW kept saying that Jisung, being his senior, outshined with his character and he wasn't wrong! Jisung really brought Heungseon to life.
I watched it right after watching Mr. Queen and it was extremely interesting seeing Kim Jwa-geun and Heungseon Daewongun depicted as characters again~
If anyone's interested one more depiction of Daewongun can be found in another Jo Seung Woo film called "The Sword with No Name"
