Hi, I hope you are well.
I like dramas. What I prefer is friendship, strong platonic bonds, unconditional love/redemption/forgiveness themes and relatively serious stories in general. Comedy and action are all good if there's something deeper behind it. If not, boring. I like things that suit my subjective definition of well-written but I'm not an author so I'm no one to judge, I just give my undemanded opinion. Definitely not a sucker for romance of any kind, straight/bl/gl/whatever. I don't do "shipping" and I don't watch "censored romances" of c-dramas as they never appear as truly platonic but rather weird and ambiguous. Other than that, I can like any kind of stories, in theory. In practice, I have even stranger tastes. However, I have to really be extremely bored or really hate something in a story that I can't ignore to give it up before it's over. Curiosity and hope that things get better keep me watching. To rate something, I try to consider a few different points : first the core (premise, themes/lessons, overall writing/development, pacing, logic/inner realism, main characters, secondary characters, finale), then the packaging (acting, directing, OST). Although, in the end, it's mostly random. I very rarely try new dramas unless I'm feeling adventurous, mostly I rewatch and rewatch and rewatch and then search for new but similar stuff afterwards but usually can't find any so I rewatch again. Sometimes a drama I've passionately loved at my first watch I'll realize with a rewatch that it actually pretty much sucks. The opposite is true as well.
Top 5 best (aren't perfect but still survived every rewatch until now) :
- My Mister
- Miraculous Brothers
- Navillera
- Life
- Good Manager
+ Special mention for Signal because it was my first ever and I watched it with my partner so it's unique. It's also very good.
Top 5 worst (that I wouldn't even want to rewatch) :
- Goblin (hated everything in it, couldn't finish it)
- The Devil Judge (too much nonsense, relationship between MLs was seriously weird, the ending was horrendously bad, OST was nice though)
- Move To Heaven (maybe I wasn't in the right mindset but I disliked most of it and was very bored)
- D.P (too much violence for the sake of violence, couldn't like the characters, got bored and stressed)
- Taxi Driver (too much violence for the sake of violence, couldn't like the characters, got bored and stressed)
