Annyeonghaseyo, K-drama fam! I'm a newly converted fanatic from the bustling streets of New Delhi, India, married and still in my early 30s (yes, I know, I still look like a college freshman). My knowledge of South Korea was limited to the tech giants like Samsung, LG, and Hyundai, and the epic musical talents of BTS, 1 Million, and BLACKPINK, and a few popular series/movies like Kingdom & Parasite.
But fate had it that one hot summer day in 2022, I was home alone with nothing to do but to scroll through Netflix. And that's when I stumbled upon the cringe-worthy title 'My Love From the Star.' Being a sci-fi and alien fanatic, I gave it a chance, and before I knew it, I was swept off my feet by the story, acting, and comedy. I ended up binge-watching the entire series in just 24 hours!
And let me tell you, Gianna Jun is the queen of my heart! I even reactivated my Instagram account just to follow her. And don't even get me started on Park Ming-young - I've watched all her dramas like 'Secretary Kim,' 'City Hunter,' 'Healer,' and 'Private Life.' I'm so addicted to these K-dramas that my wife thinks I'm insane.
In just six months, I've devoured over 40 K-dramas and 11 movies. My all-time favorites include 'Something in the Rain,' 'The Business Proposal,' 'Crash Landing on You,' and 'One Spring Night.' I can't resist a good rom-com with a vibe that's hard to explain.
But let me tell you, 'Something in the Rain' got me in my feels like never before. I was so invested in the story that I couldn't stop thinking about it for days. I even had to take a vacation just to clear my head! I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried like a baby during the emotional scenes.
I've joined MyDramaList to manage my screen time better and not get lost in K-drama land entirely. Who knows, maybe I'll even learn enough Korean to impress my wife with some 'Wae' and 'Woh.' Let's share our love for Korean dramas together!
Saranghae!
