K-Dramas

What a journey this took me on. These people became my people, and I feared for them, wept for them, and rejoiced for them.

While watching My Dearest, I tried to piece together the reason for the frenzy at the time of its airing. For me, what stood out the most were the characters themselves and seeing them make their way through the harsh realities of war as well as dealing with the aftermath. I admired their tremendous growth and courage.

I would liken my experience watching this drama to that of attempting to patiently wait for my lover who's at war, all the while in a constant state of worry, even with letters pouring in assuring me.

Criticism Portion:

While the romance was by no means "terrible," I couldn't connect to the main couple nor see the amount of chemistry between them that others did. However, because I grew to care for the ML and FL as individuals, luckily, this did not dampen my watching experience in the end.

All this being said, I believe I now understand why My Dearest left such a mark on viewers. It certainly left one on me.

I think it belongs around here.

I would have given this a 9/10, but they threw in some unnecessary twists near the end that just weren't impactful.

That being said, I very much enjoyed this. It was light-hearted, and the relationship was refreshing and healthy. There is no big misunderstanding near the end that drives them apart. Once they are officially together they stay together and support each other.

The ML is great! He's an LGBT+ ally and an encouraging and thoughtful boyfriend. Enough said. The FL is a working woman with a thoughtful mind and open heart. She loves her life, idol, family, friends, and boyfriend sincerely and earnestly.

Together, they are a well-matched couple who lean on one another and respect one another. Just, lovely.

I was a bit iffy on if I really liked this or not in the beginning. It seemed almost slow for some reason. But, as it went on, the tension and mystery built and I enjoyed it more and more.

Regarding Representation: The Trans rep here is *chefs kiss* Highly recommend just based on the rep alone.

First off, the effects were so creative and enchanting! As far as how well it portrayed a person on the autism spectrum, I can't completely say. It's an area I'm not the most familiar with. From my own personal point of view, I think they were respectful. Woo Young was an incredibly amusing FL, but not because of her autism, rather because of her personality. They also didn't try to overcorrect and make her perfect; they gave her real flaws and weaknesses.

A lot of people complained about how the ML was a one-dimensional character only there to serve as the love interest. I don't feel like we needed more of his background though because the drama was centered around Woo Young's life and growth, not around her falling in love (so, naturally, he would take a backseat in the story). This was an episodic slice-of-life drama, not a romance drama.

I really enjoyed this. It was light and fun.

This would be getting a 9/10 from me if not for the ending.

What I loved about this is that no matter if the actual plot in a particular episode didn't intrigue me I could always fall back on the humor. This was a good choice for a fun drama to watch :)

Regarding Representation: I definitely don't think Jang Bong Hwan is Straight. I feel hesitant to give him a specific label though. If you were to press me for an answer . . . I would say Queer would probably be what he would be most comfortable calling himself.

I loved its unique style at times. Particularly with the intro.

The ML was incredibly kind and an absolute sweetheart. You could tell within the first five minutes or so.

One of the biggest strengths of this drama was how each of the personalities were so distinct. You could tell by the way their eyes looked and how they carried themselves that they weren't Cha Do Hyun. The actor, Ji Sung, did such a great job acting as so many different people! I have to commend him. Yo Sub was by far my favorite personality despite how little he appeared. He was the most tragic and complicated. I felt a great deal during his introduction.

The romance was enjoyable and though Oh Ri Jin was quite wacky I liked her as the FL.

The reason why I'm not rating this higher is because of two things. One, the characters repeat things way too many times. It felt like writers were worried our attention span was too small to remember what important plot point/detail was revealed ten minutes before. Tacked onto that is also how because things were repeated so often the length of the episodes could feel draining due to how unnecessary it was. And, two, the story got too messy near the end. It felt like they were throwing other drama in for the sake of it.

But, overall, I'm glad I finally watched this. It was a very healing drama and I very much appreciated how for once the message wasn't that we are obligated to forgive those who do us wrong.

It's all empty space and frustratingly suffocating. Like wearing a wool turtleneck on a winter's day. You ache and long to tear the thing off, but it's just so bitterly cold.

The intro itself was a work of art. There and throughout the drama, I particularly appreciated the use of shadows and temperature. Not to mention, the actors did an amazing job. I found myself so weighed down by their emotions I felt like I was sinking.

I found the conclusion both unique and fitting. It ended with an understanding: We need to be on equal footing first, independent of each other, to sort through these muddled thoughts and feelings. Then, perhaps, we can . . .

Logically, I know they didn't do anything truly incredible. On the surface, this story has been told before. However, I found a surprising amount of emotional depth here.

From the beginning, with a shared pain, the leads are able to see through the other in a way others aren't able to, hear the words they're not saying. Before they even got together, the connection between them felt earned.

The way Hyun Seung approached Song Ah not just with good intentions but with a level of sincerity most men would not dare to show. He didn't play games, beat around the bush, or do things in half-measures; he loved honestly and fully, even when he had no hope or was given less in return. It was truly refreshing to see a ML take a chance with his whole heart.

I also appreciated the showcasing of a mature as well as flawed working woman FL. Song Ah put her career first and love life second. Some may say this made her selfish. However, she knew how she prioritized these aspects of her life, and rather than attempt to be someone she wasn't, she was honest with herself and Hyun Seung, made her goals clear, and took accountability for her shortcomings. And knowing herself as a person who struggled to express her feelings, she took steps to push through the blocks in her mind as well as make efforts suited to her affection style.

I felt I learned and grew with these two. I'm so glad the rep made me check She Would Never Know out!

Side Note: Can we talk about the respect Hyun Seung had for Song Ah?! He didn't take things into his own hands to remove her from a potentially dangerous situation. He respected her agency, stood to the side, and asked, "Do you want me to?"

She starts out as independent and happy but has to deal with the pressure of her friends and society to date in order to "be complete," or "happier," which makes her doubt whether she is truly happy and her life is really fulfilling. But, by the end she comes to realize that she was great from the start and learns to not take the comments and expectations of others to heart.

What a perfect conclusion! And, what a wonderfully well-rounded, fun, and independent FL!

This was such a lively and "homely" drama. It really felt like being in a small neighborhood where everyone not only knows everyone but knows everyone's business. People you can comfortably play games with and curse, laugh, and cry with.

It didn't leave as big an impact on me as Reply 1997, but it managed to do as good a job at transporting me back in time and entertaining me with all the eccentricities of the decades it went through.

It's a fun watch. What else can I say?

I liked the concept. It wasn't the most out-there or groundbreaking, but it had enough of a twist to make it at least a little bit special.  Also the characters and their actions felt very natural in this. I didn't feel like any conflict or misunderstanding was forced or out of place.

8/10. I think my main complaints start to occur in the last two episodes. I don't want to give any spoilers about those as the last two episodes are quite important. So, I'll just talk about the things I liked.

The friendship dynamic between all the leads was unique from what I've seen before. Also, the way they called out Homophobia at many points was good to see. Having one of the characters actually say that someone's sexuality isn't peoples business and they shouldn't gossip about it and that it shouldn't matter if they weren't straight anyway was so refreshing.

The thing that was truly jaw-dropping and unique about this drama was this: Most of the main leads have chemistry with each other. All of them. It's strange how easy it was for them to achieve that. I actually found myself shipping literally everyone with everyone. My goodness. That was kind of a first for me.

The people who made this knew how to create convincing chemistry between people.

Up until almost the end I was unsure as to who the final couple or couples would end up being.

The end was a bit disappointing for me. But, I understand why they made that choice. Up until the last two episodes I almost rated this a 9/10 or even a 9.5/10. Oh well. I still really enjoyed this though. A pretty solid 8/10 from me.

This was actually really well done. I was surprised. For something so short it managed to use every minute wisely. The romance was something that came late but was still natural; it didn't feel like it popped up out of nowhere.

It's definitely a quality drama. The team behind it cared about what they were making, and you could tell. They had a specific style in mind, evident from the color palette. Jung Woo's world is listless, drained, and hollow. And so the world we see is made of muted colors, conversations go round and round, and the days seem to repeat.

I found the commentary on passiveness and possessiveness interesting, as well as the under-the-radar—at least to the character—manipulation (you could see how, over time, one would give in).

Something just felt missing. I can't put a name to it. And I wanted more of the love-triangle aspect. The trailers and teasers made it seem like it would play a significant role. Unfortunately, we were fooled.

They really do show and talk about "things that are not talked about on Korean television." Not just sexuality/sexual orientation (he also actually says he's gay and is in no uncertain terms "confused") but also drug use,  ADHD, rebellion and the impulsiveness of youth, etc.

It really is like a slice of life drama in that it shows you the reality of a small group of people from a particular place and how their surroundings and those around them affect them.

It's just a lot of fun. My love for this is in no way deep.

The music aspect of it is enjoyable. And, I'm a sucker for a good girl-disguised-as-a-guy-drama.

I liked the symbolism of the lighter flame being struck as she decides to let her sexuality finally burn freely. Wonderful!

This was a very entertaining watch. Nothing incredibly special here. But, you really feel the tension and arguments.

I think it belongs around here.

For the most part, I really enjoyed it. It did a pretty decent job at showing the K-Pop industry in a balanced light, not shying away from the negatives.

We put our Idols on a pedestal and forget they're human. Granted, very talented humans. They smile for the camera when it's the last thing they want to do, they work their asses off practicing, they diet, aspects of their personal life are religiously controlled (depending on the company), and their fans can be their supporters or their worst enemy.

Regardless if you've seen this drama or not, if you're a K-Pop fan take this time to remind yourself to not be "one of those" fans. You shouldn't have a problem with your bias dating or marrying someone. You shouldn't leave an unnecessary hate comment. You shouldn't push a ship in their face. You shouldn't disregard their mental health. You shouldn't criticize their appearance. You shouldn't pounce on them at the slightest thing but step back and look at the situation.

Lecture over.

The plot did get a bit off track later on, but the characters were solid enough to pull it through for me. The ML was prickly but quickly turned into a softie. And the FL was cute and determined. I liked their chemistry together too.

Overall, I enjoyed this and I'm glad I took the time to watch it.

Brownie Points: Seeing K-Pop idols I actually know (ATEEZ) on screen was just awesome! So cool!

I've decided to watch this because it seems a bit similar to Who Kissed Me. I want to find a short K-Drama with the same amount of intense chemistry and passion.

Update after completion:

This was really nice. The FL and ML are both cool. And the ML is flirty and nice. I felt like the misunderstandings were believable in this and the Youtuber aspect was well done.

Also, the kisses were so good! Not as good as Who Kissed Me, but they got somewhat close.

I liked how it talked about sexual frustration as well as women's concerns when it comes to sex.

It really tackles all the things K-Dramas ignore. Periods as well as health concerns related to them, the concerns and excitement around having sex for the first time, worries about unplanned pregnancy, men who don't take pregnancy seriously and don't want to use condoms, shame around discussing sex, trust and doubt of one's partner, etc, etc, etc.

Also, just how people have different paces in relationships. Some may want to have sex before dating and some may want to wait until they're official. Some may be okay jumping right into it, and some may be nervous and want to take their time.

They are very different, but all are okay as long as you and your partner are on the same page.

It's refreshing to see a female-centric drama. And what an awesome FL! Strong but vulnerable. Not impenetrable. Human.

The ML was wonderful! He was respectful of the FL's independence, wasn't pushy, and genuinely wanted the best for her whether she was with him or not. A good guy, not a "nice guy."

This was a down-to-earth yet also fantastical drama about cheating and revenge. Some scenes/lines were utterly unrealistic, but, God did they feel good.

And, the style? Just, wow! It was a joy to look at.

Regarding Representation: We had a Gay ML, Jung Deun (also called Jayden), the FL's best friend/roommate. His sexuality was easily shown and completely normalized.

For a majority of this drama it was like an overly emotional version of the "Well he looks at me, and I look at him. And he looks at me, and I look at him," except involving four people.

I mean that in the best way though.

I really liked how they connected the feelings of the characters to pieces of music and the musicians behind them. It added depth and almost made me feel like I was somehow seeing Clara, Robert, and Brahms brought to life.

Watching this felt like being snuggled by a weighted blanket. Sometimes it was too much, but sometimes it was strangely comforting.

I found myself strangely enchanted by this. The FL was so impulsive and expressive. She just let herself feel without holding back(the ML did too just not to the same extent).

I'm not too sure why liked this so much. Maybe it was refreshing to see adults vulnerable, childish, and at their lowest. There's this idea we get in our heads as children/teenagers that when you get older you figure everything out and are perfectly mature. But that's just a facade.

That teller you see at the bank doesn't know all the answers to your questions, they may very well in fact have started working there two weeks ago. Those stylish heels you see the girl in the checkout line wearing probably hurt her feet like a bitch but she's wearing them because she finds them so pretty. Strangers see complete authority and natural confidence when they meet your office manager, but they need someone to look over their emails for mistakes. The man you see pulled over at the side of the highway probably does not know what's wrong with his car and is about to call a tow.

Am I allergic to nickel? Yes. Do I wear necklaces and earrings with nickel anyway? I do. I put them on and proudly wear them at work only for a rash to appear on my neck by the evening that causes me to scratch and need to wear a high-collar shirt for the next few days.

I guess that's why I enjoyed this. It was comforting to see adults regularly screw up or make silly/stupid choices.

Talk about a shitty day filled with horrible luck as well as just bad decisions. Yikes!

This one took me a while to finish because, despite being invested, I was just not really in the mood for something so dark and serious. The struggle was real. It took me being in literal pain to handle the pain in this drama.

I feel they did a pretty good job exploring how the justice system doesn't always live up to the standard of innocent until proven guilty as we wish it would. The acting is what truly shined here though. The performances were on another level.

I'd recommend watching this. I would just say you need to be in the right place for it.

It was so weird and uncomfortable to watch and I had no idea what was going on half of the time. But, I kind of liked it?

It was compelling and did a great job at showcasing the long-lasting effects and often conflicting attitudes toward dealing with/attempting to heal from trauma. I also found the ML rather unique in that he can almost be cruel with his words and actions but quickly understands his mistakes and tries to grow and move past things. 

I wasn't able to give this a 9/10 though because it does drag at points and I could have done without a couple of the side characters eating up so much screen time.

This felt kind of like a mix of an old-school K-Drama with a modern European show, which made for rather brash lines and moments as well as slow, romantic lingering thoughts and shots. I found I quite liked the odd combination of the two. Personally, the ending did leave me a tad unsatisfied, though.

Now these are some shining FLs that keep the viewer engaged!

My honest rating is an 8.5/10, mainly due to the often circular conflict with ML Park Morgan and FL Bae Ta Mi's romance. However, I felt the unique business concept and truly strong FLs were enough to make up the difference.

This drama was a sad tale of internalizing and externalizing pain. How we numb ourselves to survive, put on a face others wish to see, and cut into ourselves as "penance."

If I should again be ready to tear myself to pieces, I hope I will remember The Smile Has Left Your Eyes.

This left me with a heavy aching in my chest.

This was a very well-thought-out flipping of an almost tired story at this point. Having the focus be on the FL and her struggle to find avenues to make her own choices with the limited freedom she has in her situation, as well as her bond with her close friends, made for a fresh and mature experience. I valued my time spent with Deok Im. This is not to say I disliked the ML, but swoonworthy and compelling as Yi San was at times, he did not draw my complete attention, hope, and compassion as Deok Im did.

I didn't expect to find myself interested so quickly. Let alone be kept invested throughout. The relatable and, while jaded, never cruel, FL was definitely one of the highlights, along with the green flag ML so green he might as well have been a walking tree, and, of course, the sweet and supportive romance between the leads. These aspects, as well as the compelling exploration of trauma surrounding the mystery, allowed My Lovely Liar to feel fresh even while playing into some tropes; nothing felt tired or magically explained away.

I'm so glad the rep made me check this one out!

This was so creative! The effects weren't the absolute best but they were interesting to see. And the ML was so fun! I kind of missed watching Fantasy.

When it comes to the story, it did get a bit out of hand during the last few episodes. However, I had a blast with this.

It took me almost two years to hop on this classic but steamy K-Drama ride. I'm not sure if waiting till the hype died down was a benefit to my overall watching experience or not. Oh well, I'll never know. This is what happens when you don't watch a drama as it's airing.

This had seemingly all the markings of "peak" early 2010 K-Dramas: A Cool/Cold ML, a bubbly/silly FL, a SFL best friend attached to the hip of the FL who gets her in/out of trouble, and an initial meeting between the two leads—involving a misunderstanding/lie/argument of some kind that will most likely come up later—where they don't get along at first but are secretly intrigued by each other.

A Business Proposal had all of these while not only being more mature but improving in areas these past dramas lacked. First, let's address the elephant in the room: The kiss scenes. Because, damn, are they good! Do you know why they're SO good? Because both people are equally involved *claps* and look like they actually want to be there *claps* kissing *claps* with this person *claps* at this moment *claps in your face* Second, the side couple didn't just push plot points along but were involved and had their own storyline. In fact, they were so fun to watch I got SCS (Side Couple Syndrome)! Third, they didn't drag misunderstandings/conflicts on forever and actually had them deal with things in a reasonable amount of time.

My conclusion: 'Tis peak and ridiculously fun!

I really enjoyed the unpredictability of it, the ML's growth over time, the focus on trust and exploring emotions, and the deep bond between the ML and FL in their relationship.

However, in the back of my mind, I kind of wish things were more "twisted," so to speak. Maybe that's just me comparing this to "You," though.

Overall, I see why this was so well-liked, and I would recommend it if you're looking for an unconventional thriller.

Marry My Husband didn't break the mold, but it sure did capture attention, and rightfully so.
They really pull you in and keep you with the draw of comeuppance. "When are these pieces of shit going to get what's coming to them?!" "How cleverly and far can they be dragged down?"

What nearly rivals this, though, is seeing the FL blossom into a confident and resilient woman, willing to finally fight for herself. No longer a doormat or dying flower seeking small rays of "affection." Now, a person who commands the right to their own space and happiness.

If the idea of a melodramatic revenge K-Drama appeals to you, you should definitely give this one a try. I recommend it.

Shorter version: 

The Good Bad Mother: How true to its title. The mother in this drama is portrayed as having the best intentions for her son, wanting him to have power so as not to be hurt by others like she was. But while pushing him toward this goal, she indirectly and directly tells her son his life is not his own to live; he is being raised to fulfill a dream she couldn't.

Overall, I found this drama to be a genuinely healing experience. Through emotional gut punch after gut punch, this mother came to realize the full weight her abuse caused her son. When raising him, her intentional and painful choices were a gust of wind that would lead to a hurricane: The Butterfly Effect.

What ultimately held me back from rating this higher and embracing the message the drama was trying to convey was that I felt an in-depth, confrontational, and honest sit-down conversation with Kang Ho and his mother was sorely needed. Yes, she did apologize for many of her actions and express her regrets about how she raised her son, but, for me, I needed her to take 100% brutal accountability in person.

If you think humor would have no place in a story such as this, I don't think you'll enjoy watching this. I myself found many jokes out of place. Additionally, if you're not mentally in a place to handle watching scenes with parental abuse (including scenes where it is brushed aside or excused), I wouldn't recommend watching this. If you feel you can handle a topic like this and don't mind the mixing of serious with comedic, I think you'll find value in this.

This oozed style, had a pretty cool FL, and was entertaining. However, I found the pacing off more often than not and the plot predictable. The camera would linger on shots ten or twenty seconds after they should have ended. If this was shorter I think it would have felt a lot more exciting. As far as the story, lines and twists weren't surprising, and some conflicts were repeated to the point of being annoying. Don't get me wrong; I had a good time. It's just a real shame since there was quite a bit of potential here.

This drama and the characters truly shined the most in tension-filled moments where it felt as though all the air had been sucked out of the room. I also rather appreciated the consistency of the character's flaws/toxic behaviors, with there also being guilt and growth. Also, the fake-out conflict being resolved through thoughtful perspective and acceptance? Loved that. More not dragging things out for added drama and instead having a main lead think rationally, please!

Based on this drama's description, I expected less than average—to not be excited at the prospect of seeing the story progress. I was glad to find I could lose myself in Jazz for Two for a while.

All this praise aside, I wish the curtains closed more smoothly on this drama. At least ten extra minutes were desperately needed to tie up the side character's stories as well as allow a smoother transition as to where the main leads ended up. When the credits started rolling, I legit thought I was being punked. I was like, "Come on, there's got to be five more minutes left, right? Did I skip ahead?!"

All in all, I would recommend it. Just keep your expectations moderate.

There were some really great acting moments here. The first episode's serious scene was done incredibly well. You felt how much that hurt.

There were many awkward moments, but they could also turn around and be quite charming in their own way.

Not as touching as say "Love Tractor" but a rather sweet and appreciative nod to "She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat."

Overall, I'd probably recommend it for a binge with a nice cup of tea.

I kind of loved this. It was as if I was witnessing a short story being written, discussed, and eventually brought to life over the course of the drama. The color scheme was also fantastic and the acting bordered on great during key scenes. However, despite the MLs having wonderful chemistry all throughout, when it came time to deliver on showing physical affection, they failed. I find myself having to dock a full point for the kiss scene. And, here's the thing, it wasn't as though it was charming or realistically awkward: It just didn't work. I think I would prefer it if they didn't kiss at all rather than deliver something so disappointing and frame it as a romantic high point.

This leaves me feeling conflicted. While I would almost easily recommend this to others, I find myself sighing at its conclusion.

It's like returning home and going over vacation pictures and finding one where you're wearing a new outfit, standing in front of a gorgeous sunset, but at that exact moment when the picture was snapped the wind happened to blow your hair into your face and so while it is still a great memory and you will show it to family and friends your fingers will always itch as you so wish you could fix it by simply brushing your hair away.

Not gonna lie, the first episode was kind of difficult to get through. The introduction of the premise and future conflict was so stereotypical that nearly every line could be predicted. But, it did grow on me, surprisingly. In particular, I liked the way they explored Won Young's realization of his sexuality. It was quite well-executed. And I also enjoyed the tension between the two MLs. Finally, I will say that I found the typical "turn" in the story to actually be fairly convincing and fitting for the characters rather than just a way to extend the length of the drama.

So, in short, this was sometimes charming, but nothing fantastic or note-worthy. Not necessarily a skip, but nothing to lose sleep or drop responsibilities for.

Oh, right! The side couple! Yeah, sorry, I forgot about them just like the drama.

The story itself was nothing much: One silly and cheerful lead, through convenient circumstances, weasels their way into the other lead's rather dreary existence, and, somewhere along the way, they fall in love. What stood out at points was the crazy chemistry, nice cinematography, and overall feel-good moments.

But, again, this had the same issue as Individual Circumstances: Unfulfilling and/or unconvincing kisses.

Like, I'm not asking for a full-on makeout. It can even be an awkward kiss as long as you intentionally frame it that way. But don't give me good build-up, palpable tension, intense eye contact, and great body language only to not deliver. That just stings.

The FL was kinda clumsy and typical but she had more personality than most FL's. The ML was pretty charming and had a quirky personality. And, it was a pretty fun concept.

I should also add that I liked the way they shot this, and when they got together they were so cute and felt like a natural couple.

Overall, a very enjoyable and short watch.

It was really pleasant. I liked how it was shot and the way they told the story to us. Switching the perspectives was quite clever. It also helped that the acting was really good.

This was harsh but sometimes funny. I was generally invested throughout.

My criticisms:

I don't know why they made the FL so cold. It felt awkward a lot of the time. Also, her romantic interest left me feeling annoyed and confused. Like *sigh* "Okayyy, I guess."

Finally, the use of force by police. There were some points where an officer who had taken things too far was framed as being in the wrong, rightfully so. But there were many more instances where the violence was justified or excused, wasn't necessary and was obviously excessive, and/or the rights of the citizen were pushed aside.

The drama could have and should have used these instances as an opportunity to speak on/condemn police brutality. This aspect left me very disappointed.

This, like His Man, is an important stepping stone for LGBT+ people in Korean media. Unlike that reality show, though, this had a lot of problems.

While I was ecstatic to hear about this show's release, I began feeling disappointed after watching a few episodes. The hosts wanted to open up the public's minds to Queer people, a noble goal. However, in the pursuit of this they often watered down vital concepts (like sexuality and gender) to the point of being incorrect and/or problematic, were more sympathetic toward parents of Queer children than the children themselves (they even said they were equally struggling), handled insults and dismissals from unaccepting parents with kiddie gloves, and failed to make a hard stand against bigotry.

I do get the sense that this was made with good intentions and that the hosts aren't bad people. But I feel like they cared so much about Straight people's perception of the show that they ended up catering to them to a fault. There was this sense that it was up to Queer people to keep trying to convince their family members and bend to make them more comfortable rather than the onus being on those being hateful and unaccepting.

All of this being said, I'm still glad this was made so I could see these Queer people's stories and so that, hopefully, Korea will portray more real Queer people on the screen.

Very warm in terms of lighting and color, as well as the characters themselves. It was very sweet in regards to the romance aspect as well and the chemistry was incredibly natural. I see this becoming a very refreshing drama for me to come back to on occasion when I want to improve my mood.

My heart says 9/10 and my mind says 8.5/10.

This gave me Tasty Florida and a bit of To My Star vibes.

This was so delightfully smooth. The OST was gorgeous and the MLs felt very natural, had wonderful chemistry, and the romance was very easygoing. If not for the "conflict" being rushed this could have been a 9/10. I have a feeling there was a cut scene or two that would have easily fixed this.

Brownie Points: Side character Dad was such a comforting and openly emotional father.

Definitely an 8.5/10. At the very least, an 8/10. I got into this series just as it was about to end.  The trailer didn't really intrigue me at first. But, boy am I glad I gave it a chance. There are some cringe comedy scenes early on, but later it just becomes part of the characters' charm. 

It's really beautiful and very funny. The music is great and the characters have very unique personalities. I loved the running gag with the eggs. A debtor and a collector falling in love? Who would have thought?

I also can't believe how intense the kisses were! We have only really just started getting some Korean Bl's. What a pleasant surprise.

Very funny, and just overall enjoyable. The guys were definitely the funniest part of it. I loved their cluelessness. Also, the fake swear words had me losing my mind!

I really liked the style of humor. The first episode legitimately made me laugh multiple times, and many moments after continued to make me chuckle.

For the most part, I found the acting convincing and the emotional scenes impactful.

But, not gonna lie, the reason I'm not rating this higher is because of the last episode. It didn't feel like they wrapped things up properly.

It was a fun watch for me. I get why most people don't seem to like it, though. It can be a bit slow at times. I think they could have played even more with the stereotypical parts of K-Dramas to make it funnier.

Well, this was fun while it lasted!

I had been wanting to see a foreign drama with vampires. This was new for me and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I did like the male vampire's makeup, unlike most people. It gave him a very aesthetically pleasing and mysterious look. Also, he's Bisexual. Nice!

At least a 7/10 in quality. I'm giving it a 7.5/10 for the added enjoyment I got from it and just overall fun weird parts of it. This will be an easy multiple rewatch for me in the future.

Some gorgeous shots! Even though it's quite short the ML's acting really makes you feel his complex emotions. He is so soft, peaceful, and introspective. I wish we had more screen time from him though. That would be my main criticism.

I like how they tried to show a bit of the darker side of being an idol. Stalker fans are a thing and idols can be and most likely are uncomfortable with being hunted by the press trying to take photos.

Aside from that, the chemistry came very easily. It helped that the ML was very outwardly kind, which I am a big fan of. I would have liked one more episode, but maybe that would be me being too greedy. Lol.

I also have to note just how much I appreciated and adored the fact that the ML having a stalker girl fan wasn't played as some joke to be laughed off but was framed in a serious light and was also taken very seriously by the FL herself. She didn't laugh when he told her or ridicule him in the slightest. Men can feel threatened and be harassed by women. It IS a thing. A man being afraid because of a stalker should be taken as seriously as a woman being in that same situation.

This was pretty darn good. It managed to balance the comedy and serious aspects well. I felt it dragged once it got near the end though.

Regarding Representation: We had a Transgender SFL, Jennifer. I liked how over the drama it was shown how the ML, Do Yong Shik, while already having accepted her was working on remembering to call her by her new name.

This felt like a slower and more awkward take on Carmen San Diego. Don't get me wrong, it was still enjoyable. It was kooky (in a good way) and well-acted. And, honestly, it was just incredibly refreshing to see a drama where both the antagonist and protagonist were women. The LGBT+ rep certainly didn't hurt either . . . *cough* *cough* It's actually the reason I started watching it in the first place *cough* *cough*

Would I recommend it? Hmmm . . . Depends on the person.

For the most part, I really enjoyed this. Its high point and its low point though is that it's very soap opera. It's loud, repetitive, and overly extravagant with just about everything. I feel like this is what you'd get if you combined Knives Out with As The World Turns.

You will undoubtedly get irritated at some point but also find yourself chuckling at the ridiculousness of it all. In other words, it's some—not everyone's—cup of tea.

What a pleasant and "quirky" watch. Lots of dry humor and this sense that the drama was just taking its time, saying whatever it felt like saying at that moment.

Honestly, finishing this felt weird. I almost expected 12 more episodes as it felt so . . . Reliable and peaceful—like next week it would still be there.

It's like they looked at classic Romance K-Dramas and were like, "What if we took all that and did mostly the opposite and turned the dial up to 11?"

Despite Mad for Each Other making me "mad" at times, somehow they managed to put some genuine emotion into this rather odd drama and made me root for this couple to boot.

All in all, I'm glad I watched it.

Dry comedy with some meaningful moments.

Regarding Representation: 

Had a Gay SML, Han Yang (otherwise called Looney). Han Yang is loopy for the majority of the drama so I can understand if some found/find the representation problematic.

As for me, personally, I could understand it since he was going through extreme withdrawal symptoms while trying to quit drugs as well as the fact that this drama is comedic in nature meaning most of the characters act off the hook. So I would say the rep here is positive, or, at the very least, well-meaning.

Light-hearted and typical start at first, but then took a dark twist.

It still maintains a fairly light atmosphere but adds some heavy moments throughout. If not for the very solid acting I'm not sure if they would be able to sell me on this drama. But, they did.

The FL starts out being an interesting and cool person. She's incredibly straightforward. She knows what she wants and she doesn't mince her words or pretend she has a different motive. I really loved how she also asked about her potential partners' preferences too. You don't get to see that very often.

However, she loses that spark as the drama goes on.

The main ML of the drama is set up to be a guy who is interested in having an open relationship and being with multiple women at different times and lives a very strict and scheduled life. That's okay. BUT, you have to check in with all of your partners first to make sure they are on the same page and are okay with how you want things to be. Otherwise, you ARE cheating and/or being emotionally manipulative.

The drama seems to imply that she sort of knew that they weren't exclusive. But, she didn't know about the multiple women he was seeing when she wasn't there. If they did have that conversation, then that really should have been a scene that was included in the drama.

Without that, I'm left to think that the ML didn't communicate his desires at all and left her to think whatever she wanted, without caring about her feelings.

As far as the FL's best friend, you and I both know that wasn't just a friendship on her end. I did enjoy seeing their complicated relationship, toxic as it was. Lol.

This is a pretty toxic drama. But, a very interesting one. I do have to say that aside from the errors in the story the acting, lighting, and just overall atmosphere and color-scheme is fantastic. It sets the tone and keeps it.

Yoon Min Hyuk is just a fun character that sort of serves as the audience. We come in naïve and perhaps a bit curious and maybe decide to cause a bit of mischief and just observe the chaos around us.

I'm not sure where to put it.

It was fascinatingly uncomfortable.

I haven't seen a romance drama contain so little romance. The couple did have their moments, and I didn't get SLS (surprisingly), but their love for each other felt more like a side plot. I didn't dislike it; I just found it strange.

This was unlike any K-Drama I've seen. There was this constant weird feeling in every scene. Everything felt . . . Off. From the music, facial expressions, and inner thoughts to the reactions and manipulative acts to get revenge.

I'm not sure how else to describe it.

Do I recommend it? Not if you're looking for something to "Awww" at. Yes, if you're looking for something different and don't mind a slow pace.

An interesting concept, that's for certain. 

I feel like they threw in too much the closer they got to the end. What I really wanted more of wasn't twists. I wanted to see more moments from the ML's past. I craved those. Seeing when he truly loved music was very touching.

To be honest, I found the devil's potential romance to be uninteresting. It could have been cut and I wouldn't have missed it.

I liked parts of this. Other aspects needed work.

I will confess that I was moved, torn, and invested. However, a big however, it took quite a few episodes for me to get into it. Too many, in my opinion.

For the most part, I enjoyed this. It was moderately entertaining, featured FLs with nuanced stories and clear growth, and had a pretty impactful resolution.

The big let-down was it taking me until more than halfway through to see the chemistry between the main ML and FL.

Regarding Representation: While not memorable, it certainly didn't do a disservice to the community.

It was really fun. I had a good time :)

The characters all had their quirks and there were some genuinely heartfelt moments. The comedy wasn't the best, but when I wasn't actually laughing I at least had a smile on my face.

This second season with these characters continued with the same themes but brought up a few new topics such as homophobia and expectations/worries about future career paths. I was impressed with the way they called out judging what is "easy" or "hard." Art is not something you can just do half-heartedly and succeed at. Everything takes effort. 

Biggest critique: I'll admit that Yu Mi was not a character I would be able to forgive given her actions, though Gong Soo Rin has the right to do what she wants.

Biggest praise: We had a Gay SML, Seon Ho, whose story was told incredibly well. They did a great job at giving a few hints that added up later about him having unrequited feelings for Ju Hyeok, as well showing the way he was treated and what it's like to be outed (they also used the term "outing"). I ended up in tears when his past was shown.

One thing I think that's of note is that the the Straight guy over-the-top sweetly in love with his girlfriend, Ju Hyeok, was more feminine while Seon Ho was more masculine. Just thought it was a bit of a clever and neat reversal of a trope.

Brownie Points: Ju Hyeok was such a supportive and sweet friend reassuring Seon Ho several times that even when he realized he liked him he never felt any discomfort at all.

Really fun and funny. And it was shown in a format that is really different. It's kind of like a choose your own adventure.

As a tea lover this was like gold for me. The drinks were so creative and gorgeous! Not to mention that the lighting and camerawork was beautiful and complimented the shots of the beverages.

This wasn't some deep romance, it was more sweet and showed the beginnings of flirting.

She's really only present there, but I would feel I was being a bit secretive and odd if I didn't mention how cute I found Dan. I believe I've mentioned before how I like women with short hair cuts and/or women who look handsome. And, she happens to fit one of those types. Score for me! I don't get to see many women who I actually find personally attractive in dramas, so I was quite glad.

7.5/10

Warm, flirty, and easy. I don't think it had as much charm as Tasty Florida but it did remind me of it and gave me a similarly pleasant feeling.

I enjoyed my time with this drama though I felt some parts could have been handled better. But, the chemistry was good and they felt like a realistic and "grown-up" couple. Plus, it was very relaxing overall.

I'd rate it almost an 8/10. I feel like a 7.5/10 would almost be mean though so I won't give it that.

I feel like this is between a 7.5/10 and an 8/10 for me. It has charm to it, the characters did have some depth, they didn't try to romanticize or glamorize a forced scene, the couple was legitimately sweet together, and I liked that they didn't play into my expectations as to how Haebom would act and what his dynamic between him and Taesung would be like.

But, I don't know. I just didn't feel like this had a lot of character to it.

Was it warm and healing as advertised?

Not really, no.

This drama was at its best when it had this just-go-with-the wind vibe. But, for some reason, they decided to throw in a bunch of out-of-nowhere tragedies and drama that eventually took over and left warmth and healing on the backburner.

And while the ML was being sweet and thoughtful the FL was letting herself be walked over by others to an annoying degree. I can take slow growth in a drama, that's fine. But she actually didn't change in that respect. Also, the prominent excusing/dismissal of abuse left a bad taste in my mouth, tainting a lot of my attempts to enjoy Summer Strike.

I don't know, I guess I just expected more; which is funny because I started this drama on whim.

Do I recommend watching it? If you're looking for more kind MLs, sure. Otherwise, this might be one to skip.

Something easy and silly. Not as enjoyable or intriguing as, say, Roommates of Poongduck 304, but something fun to pass the time. I did find the "misunderstanding" more annoying than others, though. It was too easily solved!

The two leads felt like a true couple, with lovely, passionate moments as well as outbursts. But while the story was cohesive, for the most part, the ending felt rushed and thrown together. Which was a shame, as I thought their final conflict had room for exploration.

While the chemistry and natural intimacy between the two leads was nothing short of insane, the ending made it all feel pointless for me. I needed something more enthralling or moving to close this drama with. Ultimately, it felt unfinished.

This was apparently an interactive series when it came out where fans got to vote on who the girl's love interest would ultimately be. I wonder if there are multiple endings or if there is just the one fans picked? Guess I will have to see!

This was SO fun. I found myself smiling and laughing constantly. There wasn't really any drama or sad moments which was very refreshing. I also really liked the effects they used for certain scenes. I wanted her to get with a different guy, but I was still happy at the end. I can't think of anything truly wrong with it. I'll give it a very solid 8.5/10

As a woman in her early twenties, this FL's life spoke to me. Dealing with cramps at work, having a catty female coworker you don't get along with, taking care when out late at night, early periods, and just trying to save what you can on a budget.

At the end of the day it helps to have someone who notices what you're going through and tries to give you a bit of help. Ji Eun found a great guy like that :)

A really enjoyable drama with some legitimate teaching moments.

Regarding Representation: We had a Gay ML, Tae Jin. We get a few minor hints but it doesn't really become clear until the end. I feel his story is best watched rather than explained by me. I will say that they did a great job at subtly conveying his feelings and realization, and I loved how they focused on the relationship with him and his father. To have a parent be the one to apologize and reflect on their actions was heartwarming and refreshing. Parents in real life and parents in dramas more often than not don't see any problem with their own behavior and rarely if ever say, "I'm sorry." Let alone do they act sensitively and respectfully if their child is LGBT+.

This is the kind of dad everyone deserves. Someone who listens, learns, and is there for their child.

I enjoyed this. I do wish they had done even more with the vampire concept though. However, for what it was, I liked watching it when it came out. And I sometimes rewatch episodes of it.

I kind of cheated with this one. I just watched one of the couples' scenes in a compilation. I'd rate them a 8/10.

I'll get to the rest of it eventually though.

It's refreshingly different to see a guy-disguised-as-a-girl drama. This is one is quite entertaining  and has some real heart to it. Also, the disguise actually looks believable unlike some girl-disguised-as-a-guy dramas.

I think they pretty much got the pacing right for this. The finale was not quite what I expected, but I was pretty okay with it. The "reveal" flipped my expectations which was also pretty refreshing.

I think it's a pretty alright 7/10.

Pretty cute. I like the style of it as well. The lighting is quite nice and the posting parts look a bit like Quora. It was rather unique to include her asking online strangers for help/telling them about her story and seeing the answers/comments she got.
