https://mydramalist.com/26048-bright-sun-and-a-gentle-breeze it's not a very popular drama overseas (I actually added this entry onto MDL lmao), but it had pretty good reviews in mainland China when it aired. I'm actually rewatching it now since I watched it when I was younger when it first came out and don't remember it in detail haha but just as a warning it is kind of sad and heavy. I think it's more likeable/relatable if you understand that era of history or your parents/grandparents experienced that era of Chinese history. (FYI this drama doesn't have engsubs)

I have been watching chinese drama all my life and now I came to a dead end where I have absolutely no decent drama to watch. I prefer historical drama over modern drama but both are fine.
