I have been watching chinese drama all my life and now I came to a dead end where I have absolutely no decent drama to watch. I prefer historical drama over modern drama but both are fine. If you guys know any 'hidden gem' or a drama that you like please recommend me. I would really appreciate it, thanks (○’ω’○)

I recently finished "Lost love in times" I liked v.much.

Historical: Nirvana in Fire, Legend of Concubine Zhen Huan, Battle of Changsha, Bright Sun and Gentle Breeze (the person above mentioned Lost Love in Times but I found that one incredibly boring but you should check it out because it might suit your tastes!!)

Modern: The First Half of My Life, Surgeons, Ode to Joy (I also like historical more than modern but these 3 modern cdramas are my favorite modern ones of all time)

These are Chinese dramas I really liked but idk about your tastes haha

krystalsoojungs I've never heard of Bright Sun and Gentle Breeze. Could you post an MDL link?

https://mydramalist.com/26048-bright-sun-and-a-gentle-breeze it's not a very popular drama overseas (I actually added this entry onto MDL lmao), but it had pretty good reviews in mainland China when it aired.  I'm actually rewatching it now since I watched it when I was younger when it first came out and don't remember it in detail haha but just as a warning it is kind of sad and heavy. I think it's more likeable/relatable if you understand that era of history or your parents/grandparents experienced that era of Chinese history. (FYI this drama doesn't have engsubs)

I second krystalsoojungs recommendations - they are very good!

I would like to add Candle in the Tomb (it's neither historical nor modern drama), it has a good pace and is very addicting.

I'm in the mood for a heavy, realistic drama, so this looks great!

Try then Korean or Japanese dramas? For a Korean drama I would suggest Live Up To Your Name Dr.Heo. It's a mix of historical and modern.

Since you have watched Chinese drama all your life, can you recommend me a historical drama that have two female protagonist that are on the good side? Thx.

For sure! ^___^

Historical:

Battle of Changsha, Empress in the Palace, Nirvana In Fire, Lan Ling Wang, Chinese Paladin 3, Legend of Lu Zhen. The Princess Wei Young, Wu Xin: The Monster Killer, Love for Three Lifetimes

Modern:

Fifteen Years Waiting For Migratory Bird, Whirlwind Girl, Love O2O, Let's Watch Meteor Shower, Fiancee, Return of the Heiress

^ agree with the above poster (and all other recs!)

I also recommend Eternal Love (aka Ten Miles of Peach Blossom), Singing All Along, When a Snail Falls in Love, and Love Me If You Dare. The last two are modern crime/mystery dramas based on novels.

You can try Rookie Agent Rouge.

If you want to try Korean historical dramas: Dong Yi, Queen Seon Deok, Queen for seven Days :)

Could I ask in here too or should I make a new thread? anyway, following chmimi's question,  is there any C-Drama lately that had the same cuteness like Eternal Love? Light, fun with romance?

Historical: Tribes and empires; Modern: A love so beautiful. They are  really hot airing ones in China at the moment. And both are based on popular novels.
