I've never read any mangas before, but I really want to start. What do you guys recommend for a beginner?
Do you want something big or small? What kind of category do you want to read? And do you want to read a completed one or something that's still ongoing?
I don't mind if it is big or small. Something romantic preferably, but I'm open to anything. It's cool if it's completed or ongoing.
i've always felt that it's really hard recommending manga but one that i think is pretty light and i love allot is oresama teacher which is ongoing. another one is hana to akuma which is completed and not very long- i think it was cute
Kaichou wa maid sama is a nice one,and it's kinda easy to read.http://www.mangareader.net/kaichou-wa-maid-sama/ ...
I love 'Nana' http://www.mangareader.net/149/nana.html but I have to tell you beforehand that it's on hiatus since 2009....
Dengeki Daisy http://www.mangareader.net/123/dengeki-daisy.html and all of Motomi Kyousuke's works are nice ones.
And Special A http://www.mangareader.net/229/special-a.html ...
I mostly read Shounen, if you ever want to read any I can recommend several to you :D
Hope I helped
If you wanna read a shonen manga and are scared by long going things like Naruto, Bleach or One Piece, I'd recommend Death Note...it's very dark but it's a great read! Oh, and since you saw the movie, try with Lovely Complex...it's very very funny! ^^
I recommend Escaflowne or Tsubasa Chronicles. Tsubasa Chronicles also has an anime adaptation too... :D
To start addiction, Try Hana to Akuma, I would highly recommend it! Then Special A, Kaichou wa maid Sama, Skip Beat, Ouran High School Host Club :)

Awwwww just wanted to recommend Kimi Ni Todoke XD But someone was faster -....- I recommend: Baby Steps & Warau Kanoko- sama...After reading it there is still a prequal(like a continuation) with the name of Koi dano Ai dano :)
I totally agree with Kimi ni todoke (but still ongoing), Ouran High school Host club and Death Note. Tsubasa is nice, but I ended totally lost in this story and didnt understand the ending. Why not Fruits Basket, nice plot, some very touching guest roles??? If you like plots like Death Note (mystery, manipulations...) , I would also recommand Monster (by Urasawa). Be carefull, it's very dark, but the story is incredible. Don't know how old you are, so maybe it's not convenient for you.
