Exhuma director Jang Jae Hyun plans to make a vampire movie for his next project.

On May 2, director Jang revealed his plans for his next movie project in an interview with the UK online publication Screen Daily

He stated there are no plans for a sequel or spin-off of Exhuma. His words: "I have to continue to evolve". "It's important that I make something new. If I were to make a sequel, I'd certainly make a lot of money, but I wouldn't evolve as a director."

Director Jang is instead planning a unique vampire flick, promising it to be nothing less extraordinary than Exhuma. Screen Daily reports that he is also in the early stages of developing an original story for it. His source of inspiration for the K-vampire movie: Bram Stoker's Dracula.

"I'm writing in my brain every day something very, very strange," said the director. "I want to make a vampire movie in Korea, set [against the backdrop of] the Greek Russian Orthodox church. I will spend two years writing before preparing and shooting, so perhaps it will be ready in four years. I'm lazy."

Talking about Exhuma, he said, laughing, "I made a film that I thought was just for genre fanatics, so I seem to have failed in that respect". "The thing I did feel confident about was that you shouldn't make a boring film. I wanted to make something that really needed to be seen in a theatre to be properly appreciated."

In other news, Exhuma, released in February, has attracted approximately 11.86 million moviegoers. It is the first occult horror film in the history of the Korean film industry to reach the ten-million mark.
