'When the Phone Rings's Chae Soo Bin on challenges she faced performing sign language
Kim Ji Soo and Park Jeong Min attend the press conference for their upcoming zombie K-drama Newtopia.
Newtopia tells the story of soldier Lee Jae Yoon (Park Jeong Min) and Young Joo (Kim Ji Soo) as they navigate a zombie-infested Seoul, desperately trying to reunite.
At the K-drama's press conference, Ji Soo said, "I've actually watched a lot of zombie movies, but when I read the script, it wasn't just about a zombie outbreak, there were all colorful and diverse scenarios happening. I was curious because it seemed like a completely new kind of zombie drama. The character Young Joo was also very appealing. I wanted to play a character who grows on her own, so I chose it without hesitation."
For Newtopia, Jisoo even attended an action school. She shared, "At first, I couldn't even do a forward roll properly. I would roll once and then pause and look up. But after going [to the action school] regularly, I could eventually do five forward rolls in a row. Backward rolls were more challenging," adding, "Training at the action school helped me build stamina, which was very helpful when filming action scenes."
Newtopia will premiere on February 7. The K-drama will be available to stream on Prime Video. Watch the trailer here.
