Ever been caught in a drama drought or doubt where it feels like you've watched everything that possibly meets and satisfies your viewing needs? Well, if you get caught in 'drought' and desperately need something for filler while waiting for the newest and next fantastic story to emerge, sometimes revisiting old favourites can be just what you need.
These romantic dramas recommendations in my own opinion, are ones I have found to deliver a good dose of cute romance, fun and likable characters, and stories that make you feel the love and root for the leads! Here they are and in no particular order (varying length of episode duration).
5. Sungkyunkwan Scandal
If you haven't given historicals a try yet or wanting something that is not super politically heavy, this drama is for you.
This is a period drama, with students off to scholar studies! Complete with a gender-bender girl in disguise as a guy, who ends up in a shared dorm room with first and second male lead is sure to delight.
The great thing about this gender bender is that the mystery of hidden identity is not revealed early on to the male lead, but goes strong for quite a few episodes before the reveal.
4. Go Ho's Starry Night
This light-hearted office Rom-Com chops up and serves all the lovey-dovey romance brewing from a love-hate work relationship from female lead's Boss who has a deep attraction and unrequited love for her that slowly is gaining momentum while he works up the courage to confess.
There is also some reverse harem with several handsome office guys vying for female lead's heart. But who can resist the sizzling Kim Young Kwan!
The short 20-minute episodes make this an easy binge-watch to catch the whole series in just over a day of solid drama watching hehe.
3. Marriage, Not Dating
This romantic comedy, with an ensemble cast of characters who just can't get love right, but they eventually all give it a try throughout the hiccups and setbacks of friends, family and lifestyle ideals.
It has a bit of everything in your typical drama romcom; betrayal, love triangle, frustrating parents and also toss in a contract relationship. The cast is pretty hot and delivers a fun romance story that is easily enjoyable to rewatch.
2. Scent of a Woman
If you have some subtle emo vibes and need an outlet with something for a good and cozy cry, Scent of a Woman is indeed a reliable drama to fit the bill. It is both a beautiful and sad story that covers a lot of emotional bases. It follows your average working-class woman who leaves her job behind, with extremely short notice rearranges her life's choices due to a terminal illness diagnosis.
Along the way trying not to fall for a hot CEO type (you'll recognize this handsome guy as the previous Grim Reaper from Goblin); Lee Dong Wook is the dashing male lead, who slowly falls for Kim Sun Ah’s character who has many heartwarming ambitions. Her bold courage and kindness are what slowly draws him toward her.
This drama is sure to move your heart! Not to mention it has one of the hottest Tango dances between a drama couple.
1. Splash Splash Love
This tiny bite-size drama is only a couple episodes but delivers all the fun of time travel and true love. It’s a little corny, okay a lot corny! Overall it's a feel-good drama that is light in both writing and story and with all that 'splashing' just rinse+repeat + Rewatch.
