And They Live On...

Don’t we all have those characters that we can’t forget about? Not because they had great characterization or any such complicated reasons, but simply because that character suited them very well and that image just stuck in our mind. No matter how many other dramas that actor/actress takes part in they will forever remain in our hearts as that one character. A look into such characters that have stuck in my heart

4. The Evil Mothers


There are two evil drama mothers who will remain evil, whatever role they play. One will be Secret Garden’s Mother and the other the Oh-so-Famous Boys over flowers mother. The mere sight of them spells E-V-I-L. Sticking to her image Secret Garden mother continues playing similar roles in Heirs (2013) and now in Emergency Couple (2014). Thus going deep and deep into my mind as Evil. I have seen the BOF mother only in that drama, but any discussion of evilness reminds me of her. They might go on to do other characters in the days to come, but to me they will still be a devil’s apprentice.



3. Scheduler


Even as I am writing/typing this a tiny little smile spontaneously comes out. Jung Il Woo played the role of Grim Reaper a.k.a. Scheduler in 49 Days. Since then I have seen around 3-4 dramas with him. One as a high schooler, the other as a Joseon Dynasty Royalty and very recently as a Lawyer, but he will always be Scheduler to me. I can still remember his killer smile and those witty lines and naughty looks. There are many actors who have the similar flower boy and killer smile image, but none can fit the role of the Scheduler. He was meant to provide a lighter vein to the otherwise serious drama and he did it so well. When I talk with other drama friends, he is always addressed as Scheduler and probably would be called so forever. 



2. OSKA


Yoon Sang Hyun played OSKA in Secret Garden. And OSKA was a bratty celebrity, but had a sincere heart for his brother and his girl. He just captured my heart in Secret Garden. I will never forget his tantrums. He was one character who was bratty but you still got to love him! Well, celebrity brats are not new either but this one man looked so carefree on the outside, but had a heart softer than anyone. The little things he did for his brother like purposely losing in games and pretending to be weak made him really shine. I saw him in 2 other dramas and in one he was a lawyer, but I could still see OSKA him. His new drama Gap Dong is going to be aired this year and I am all excited to see dear OSKA once again.


1. Gumiho

There are many gumihos in dramaland, say Lee Seung GI, Choi Jin Hyuk etc, but I am sure the mention of gumiho will remind all of you of Shin Min Ah from My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. How many of you can still hear her “Woong-ah” and “Ah-Mashitda” and “Hoi-Hoi”? I can see many nodding heads. So there we have a winner!  She was a cute gumiho whom even sexy Choi Jin Hyuk can’t beat. Seeing her as Arang, I was smiling as I was reminded of cute Gumiho. Gumiho might be a mythical creature that no one has ever or will ever see. But when someone says fox you picture fox in your head and when someone says gumiho I picture Shin Min Ah. Hence, she will always be the perfect Gumiho.
