Little-Dream's Weekend Movie Picks
It’s time for relax.

Hey everyone! This is Little-Dream writing.
We have a brand new weekend ahead of us, so it’s time to start asking ourselves: “What should I watch?”
We all are different: some of us like romance, some prefer comedy, and others both. When I selected a “theme” for my movie picks, I decided I wanted to have different genres, so you have more chances of finding something you’d like to spend two hours of your life watching, and enjoying every minute of it.  They are all perfect if you want to relax a little and have a good time - nothing too dense, sad or heavy, if you know what I mean.
Each one is from one of the three main drama making countries: Korea, Japan and Taiwan. So you get to choose that too!
With nothing more to say, I’ll start!

Country: South Korea                                  Year: 2012                 Genre:  Drama, Historical, Comedy

Summary:
Before Grand Prince Chungnyeong (Joo Ji Hoon) becomes King Sejong the Great, he places a slave Deok Chil, who looks like him (also Joo Ji Hoon), on his throne and ventures outside of the palace walls. There Grand Prince Chungnyeong experiences the life of common people, and society at large.

So, I watched this movie simply because one of my favorite blogs had it with Spanish subs. Sometimes I don’t feel like making my brain read in English so I go for my own language. Anyway, I had nothing better to do and ended up having a great time. This is like the known “Prince and the Pauper” story but there is only one difference: Here, the main characters do not switch places voluntarily, but because of an accident. You watch a prince becoming a slave, and a slave ending up as a prince, when neither of them wanted that. If you like movies with a lesson at the end, and a lot of funny situations, then this is for you.

Country: Japan                                  Year: 2010                              Genre: Comedy, Family, Drama

Summary:
Yasube Kijima (Nishikido Ryo), a samurai from the Edo Period, travels through time - 180 years - to arrive in present day Japan. He then meets divorcee Hiroko (Tomosaka Rie) and her son Tomoya (Suzuki Fuku). Yasube ends up working for Hiroko as a housemaid in return for food and lodging. One day, Yasube starts to make pastries for Tomoya, which leads to Yasube become popular patissier. In the process the three become very close, but the moment they must say goodbye is drawning near.

This is one of those movies you can watch when you are stressed and tired. Relaxing and funny, Chonmage Purin will have you wishing for your own samurai. I watched it simply because I love past-to-present traveling stories. I enjoy watching the differences of our time and their time, in technology and way of thinking (both of which are shown in this movie). With a touch of family, and a little bit (just a little bit) of romance, this will leave you with a heartwarming feeling and a smile on your face. But I recommend you to have some food with you, if not you’ll end up hungry… Believe me.

Country: Taiwan                                     Year: 2010                                Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance

Summary:
Wu Qi Feng (Vic Zhou) is a lead singer in a local rock band called "Monkey Electric Boy Band" based in Taichung. Joining him in the band are Da Dou (Huang Deng Hui), Xiao Ji (Li Bo En) and Ah Yan (Chen Shan). Previously Wu has been unlucky in his love life, and has never dated any girl longer than three months. Sakurada (Kato Youki) is a Japanese girl who is on a three month visit to Taiwan studying Chinese after breaking up with her boyfriend. One day she has a brief affair with Wu. Later he requests her to sign a contract to be his girlfriend for 90 days and she agrees. One of the conditions of the contract is they must get separated after 90 days. However, as the dateline approaches, what will be the outcome of their love story?

I watched this one because, again, I found it with Spanish subs, and also because I love when the main leads are from different countries. This is one of those movies that are full of clichés, but manage to have that “touch” of their own that makes them unique and special. With a lot of funny situations and an ending that you both expect and do not expect, Love You 10000 Years is perfect for anyone that feels like smiling like a fool for a couple of hours.

So, guys, that’s all.  Go look for some popcorn, get your favorite pajama and just relax. I hope you’ll enjoy these movies as much as I did. Have a great movie-watching weekend! Annyeong!

Love, Little-Dream
