 Annyeong Chingu!!!!

I am back with another drama Recap. This one has my heart. I was skeptical at first. But then again, who am I to judge the drama before watching it? So, I thought, let's give it a chance. I was really disappointed with Young Dae in his last two dramas, the name of which I shall not mention... But this one was epic! I may be exaggerating, but you will know once you know what you are getting into. Without further ado, let's dive right into it.

In this enthralling tale of Moon In The Day, Han Joon Oh, a South Korean heartthrob, grapples with his hidden insecurities despite his stunning appearance and imposing stature. His life takes a dramatic turn when a public service video shoot ends in a harrowing car collision, pushing him to the brink of mortality. A swift and daring rescue by Kang Young Hwa, a skilled female firefighter, saves him from the clutches of death.

Recognizing Kang Young Hwa's extraordinary abilities, Han Joon Oh's representatives enlist her as his personal bodyguard. However, when Han Joon Oh regains consciousness, he discovers a startling transformation – his body is now a vessel for the vengeful spirit of Do Ha, an ancient Korean nobleman betrayed and killed by his beloved wife, Han Ri Ta.

As Han Joon Oh grapples with this unexpected possession and the relentless spirit's pursuit of retribution, Kang Young Hwa becomes entwined in a supernatural struggle that transcends time. Together, they embark on a perilous journey to unravel the mysteries of Do Ha's tragic past and navigate the challenges.

Kim Young Dae as Han Jun Oh/ Do Ha

Kim Young Dae takes on the dual role of Han Jun Oh and Do Ha. On the one hand, he takes on the role of Han Jun Oh, a prominent South Korean celebrity renowned for his star status who gets possessed after a near-death experience. On the other hand, he steps into the historical shoes of Do Ha, an esteemed noble from the Silla Dynasty who had an ill-fated relationship with his then-wife Han Ri Ta.
Pyo Ye Jin as Kang Young Hwa/ Han Ri Ta

Pyo Ye Jin steps into the dual role of Kang Young Hwa and Han Ri Ta. Kang Young Hwa, originally a fearless firefighter, undergoes a profound transformation when she becomes the personal bodyguard of Han Jun Oh, the top celebrity whose life she saved from a perilous car crash during a public service advertisement shoot. On the other hand, she steps into the shoes of Han Ri Ta, a noble Lady and the last surviving member of her family from the Silla Dynasty who had an ill-fated relationship with Do Ha.

Moon In The Day weaves a tapestry of mystery, romance, and supernatural intrigue as Han Joon Oh and Kang Young Hwa confront the sins of a bygone era. As they confront the sins of the past and forge an unlikely alliance, they must unravel the mysteries of love, betrayal, and redemption to bring closure to the tormented spirit within Han Joon Oh's body. The series explores the themes of justice, forgiveness, and the enduring power of love across time and realms.

The heart of the story spans an astounding 1500 years, where the flames of love continue to burn brightly. The central theme revolves around a man's unwavering devotion to his lost lover, transcending the bounds of time itself. This drama serves as a poignant testament to pure love, skillfully capturing its raw beauty and evoking heart-wrenching emotions through its enduring sense of longing. Han Ri Ta's haunting flashbacks, punctuated with emotion, are especially poignant and leave an indelible mark on the viewer.

The exceptional acting performances of both leads contribute immensely to the drama's success. Their portrayal of raw vulnerability reaches deep into the viewer's soul, tugging at heartstrings with every scene. The chemistry between the leads enhances the authenticity of the narrative, making their love story all the more compelling.

Kim Young Dae's portrayal promises depth and nuance to both characters, highlighting the stark contrast between the modern-day celebrity and the vengeful noble seeking retribution. As the drama unfolds, viewers can anticipate a riveting performance as Kim Young Dae navigates the intricate layers of love, betrayal, and justice that bind the two distinct personas within the same vessel.

In her portrayal of Kang Young Hwa, Pyo Ye Jin brings to life a character marked by courage and resilience, seamlessly transitioning from a professional firefighter to the dedicated protector of Han Jun Oh. As the story unfolds, viewers will witness the intricate dynamics between Kang Young Hwa and the possessed Han Jun Oh, exploring the complexities of their newfound connection.

Meanwhile, Po Ye Jin's portrayal of Han Ri Ta, the last survivor of a noble family from Daegaya in the Silla Dynasty, adds a historical layer to the narrative. The dichotomy between the two roles promises to showcase Pyo Ye Jin's versatility, as she navigates the challenges of contemporary and ancient settings, unraveling the mysteries that bind these two characters across time.

  • Chemistry of the lead actors
  • Original soundtrack of the drama is the cherry on top of the cake
  • Intricate world-building and character development
  • Visual and cinematography

Let's start with the pros. I personally loved this drama a lot. From the intricated world-building to the character development. The swoon-worthy moments, the tear-jerker moments, every bit of it was amazing for me. I can truthfully say that this was one of those dramas I didn't skip even a little.

Now, to deal with the cons. I personally didn't like the ending. To put it simply, I deeply hoped for a happy ending. I won't say it was a sad ending, but a somewhat rational and satisfactory ending. Deep down, I know that I wanted them to end up together [Do Ha and Young Hwa]. Other than that, it is a must-watch drama.

I would go on and say that this drama was a reincarnation and fantasy intricate love story done right.
