Cuzie's Weekend Movie Picks

Weekend is coming and watching movies is an easy and cheap way to spend your time at home. So I’ll give you a Japanese comedy movie for you who had a hard time this week, a romantic Chinese movie for some person who’s in love, and a mellow Korean movie for you who want to have a reason to cry your heart out. And hey, I'd like you to know that another country in Asia has a lot of good movies that I don’t want you to miss, so I’ll give you one special movie review from Thailand this week - a cute high school love story that I love so much. I dedicate this for high schooler or everyone who misses their high school time.

1.) 700 Days of Battle: Us vs. The Police



A group of high school troublemakers try to take revenge for one of their friends who got caught for speeding by a new local policeman. The leader, Mamachari (Ichihara Hayato) always pranks Chuzai-san (Sasaki Kuranosuke) in the most annoying and bizarre ways possible. At first, Chuzai-san thought of it as teenage mischievousness and dealt with it accordingly. But when the pranks get worse, he can’t help but to counter-attack. Their relationship worsens when the group finds out that the policeman has a really beautiful wife and they just can’t take it. Their story get more entangled when one of them falls in love with the policeman’s sister-in-law.


If you need to laugh, watch it. This movie is so hilarious in every aspect. The group pranks are so far from dangerous, but are just super duper annoying. And what makes it funnier is how serious their expressions are when they bully each other. In this movie you can see how very immature troublemaker teenagers slowly becoming mature and on the other hand you could see that sometimes an adult can be so childish. Another good point is the friendship is so strong and unbreakable.


2.) Love You You


Xia Mi (Angela Baby) is a law firm employee who wants to be a case investigator and with her own skills she finally gets her very first job. The job is to investigate a young owner of the island’s beach resort You Le Le ( Eddie Pheng) for money cheating and her client wants proof of it. So she come to the island and hates him instantly for scamming wealthy tourists with fabricated tales. Claiming her money and passport were stolen at the harbor, she offers to work for free at the island as long as she gets food and lodging. Will she get what she needs?? Or maybe she'll get something more precious than just  illegal business evidence?


Maybe the story is so common, you know - hate at first then love sparkling between them, but don't get deceived The more you see it, the more you’ll love it. There are sweet moments that you don’t want to miss and the twisted ending is just so WOW. Love it so much. Other good points are the cute short love story of the bride and groom-to-be, the wonderful scenery of the island and a great soundtrack.


3.) Daisy





Hyeyoung (Jun Ji-hyun) is a painter in Amsterdam who looks after her grandfather's antique shop during the week and earns extra money as a street painter on weekends. Hyeyoung has a secret admirer named Park Yi (Jung Woo Sung) that makes her fall for him without knowing his identity. Park Yi is actually an assassin and he can't get close to her because of it. Then, she meet an undercover policeman, Jeongwoo (Lee Sung Jae) and mistakes him as Park Yi. Soon Jeongwoo falls for her too. So, what will happen to this triangle love? Will Hyeyoung recognize her love?



This movie has the most beautiful and saddest love story I have ever watched. It is so sweet and heartbreaking. Jun Ji Hyun and Jung Woo Sung did a really good job portraying their characters. Their emotion felt so real, I cried a lot watching it. The action is great too. And the soundtrack is amazing. It is sync with the whole story, very touching.


4.) A Little Thing Called Love


Nam (Pimchanok Leuwisetpaiboon) is a cheerful and funny girl with really plain looks. She falls in love with a nice, smart, good looking, easy going guy in school, Shone (Mario Maurer). At first, she has no confidence to get close to him because of her ugly looks. So she tries every way possible to change her looks and even uses a recipe of love book just to make him notice her. And when she really becomes a beauty, will Shone finally see her? Will she get her first love? Will her hard works finally pay off?



This is the cutest love story ever. I really love this movie, first, because you can see how hard she tried just to be a little more beautiful each day, and it’s not like in Korean movies or dramas where the heroine can become beautiful in just a minute. In this movie we can see step by step how many ways she takes to be pretty. And it reminds us of our puppy love, when all we can think about is him and how to be close with him. As we grew up, love can’t be as pure as in our school days. It sure brings back memories. And you won’t believe the ending. It is so cuuutttteeeeeee. Oh my, just watch it, and you’ll know what I mean. I cried for hours because of it. Another good point: the teacher's love story is hilarious and I can’t forget to mention that Nam has really good friends who support her through out the story.
