Interesting amalgamation of an old storyline, unique-ish fantasy element and brilliant acting

I held off watching this show because of the mystery tag as I usually do not do well with long cliffhangers and only started watching this before the Finale aired so that I could binge-watch this and finish with the final episode, and oh my god, what fun these last two days have been!

First, the story. It's nothing new. This serial killer-like genre has been quite popular with Korean dramas and as somebody who has watched way too many of such shows, I wasn't necessarily impressed with the story per se. Just like other thrillers, it has some major plot holes and things that realistically don't make sense but they are very easy to overlook because you're so hooked onto the story. It did not have anything new but still, it stood out for me because of the fantasy element. It was very nicely done, unwrapped and wrapped up again without making me go mad. Unlike a lot of people here, I wasn't getting annoyed at the late reveal (caveat: maybe that's because I saw it in two days and did not have to actually wait for long week after week). I'm not a fan of fantasy elements and I was still able to enjoy it which means it has been nicely done.

But I think the credit for that goes to one and only Lee Jung Eun. Don't get me wrong. Everyone from the male and female leads to the supporting cast (especially Jung Young Joo) has worked beautifully and done their best, but what took this show to another level for me was the stellar acting by Jung Eun. I've watched her works before, so her brilliant acting is no surprise. What a character, what amazing comic timing and such great feels. She's given her all to the show and it really shows. She brought so much light to this otherwise heavy theme and dark-ish vibe of the show. I absolutely loved the vibe her character was oozing throughout.

One thing to note (only because it rarely happens with me and I was very very surprised) was the second lead syndrome I got in this show, until the very last episode. I'm very happy for our lead couple, they really suit each other and there was never any ill-intention by any of the characters, but omg, my heart was going all out for our Ko Won. It was my first time seeing Seo Hoo and I'm so impressed with his skills, love it! I just love how supporting all the characters in this show are shown: Ko Won, Mr Ju, Ga Yeong, and the parents. Brilliant writing of the characters!

It's a nice show with lots of light-hearted scenes. I wouldn't rate this as a romance though but even that bit has been good in the show. I have thoroughly enjoyed watching it and would definitely recommend watching it.

A silly mix of different genre

While writing a script somebody might have asked- so what genre would be good? Drama, thriller, romance, comedy, fantasy element, slice of life, etc., and the producers were like- YES.
The makers have utilised every possible thing to make the show appealing. The concept is not new and we have seen many dramas with this plotline. What drives the show is its thriller part, at least for me. The story has many loopholes and there are many questionable coincidence that happens out of blue and some scenes look over exaggerated and they look really silly but the actors are the reason that you would forgive it all. The comedy part is not bad but the law cases are not intriguing enough and I find myself skipping those scenes most of the time. All the actors are superb and it's been a while since I last saw Jin Hyuk in a show plus all the veterans in here are really good. Overall it is a decent watch that one might see if there is nothing in particular interesting to watch.

I laughed a lot in this series

This Drama is amazing!! The plot is full of emotions and super relaxed, characters are very charismatic and well developed. The main couple is very good, their chemistry is surreal and the secondary couple are also fun.

Flawed....but still entertaining

Oh, Miss Night and Day...what opportunities you had.

The premise of MNaD is very entertaining -- a young woman gets transformed into the older "ajhumma" version of herself during the day allowing her to get a "senior person" job at a cute prosecutor's office. And of course there's a *drumroll* serial killer! And an opening title sequence that is suspiciously close to ripping off Sailor Moon! The drama delivers through the first half...maybe even two thirds...of the show. And then it just kind of starts to unravel. At that point you've invested 12 hours into the show, so might as well finish it, right?

Major spoilers ahead, but here are my thoughts:

- The cat. What was with that cat? We follow the cat and follow down a well to get transformed...then we try to find the cat...then we just drop the cat plot point? Was the cat the guardian spirit of her dead aunt? Why expend all that time trying to find the cat in the first half of the show and then just have it pop up twice in the second half to enigmatically walk around? Was it the mechanism that turned young Female Lead into her ajhumma self? Was it like Luna in Sailor Moon -- hence the Sailor Moon title sequence and the cat in the logo? I have questions.

- Casting decisions. I liked the cast just fine. My biggest issue was the young FL and old FL had drastically different acting styles. Young FL was very wooden and had about two expressions. Old FL was very dynamic and expressive and much more entertaining to watch. It was hard to believe that the two actresses were representing the same character because they portrayed it so differently. There also wasn't much chemistry between the young FL and the Male Lead...but I chalk that up to her wooden-ness.

- The plot. I love a good serial killer story and K-dramas seem to love them too. I always get a bit concerned when a serial killer plot line pops up, though, because it never seems to get wrapped enough. MNaD fell in line with the incomplete villain arc. I thought at first we would have a decent resolution, then when the villain was chasing young FL she (the villain) starts exhibiting symptoms of psychosis and possibly some kind of illness? Um...what's that? Is she sick? Why is she trying not to fall over? It was oh-so-perfectly timed to allow young FL opportunities to escape. Ok, that's great and all...but without an explanation of her apparent illness, it seems like a plot hole devised to allow young FL to escape a situation she otherwise wouldn't be able to escape. Oh no -- she won't have time to untie herself to escape the drug needle...except the villain falls over RIGHT THEN allowing FL time to escape? Convenient. Oh no -- FL is on the ground unable to escape and villain is coming at her with an axe...but then villain sees the ghost of FL's dead aunt and has a full blown conversation with her allowing FL time to recover and get the upper hand? Convenient.

- The romance. In my opinion, don't watch the show for the romance. It has one...and it starts out strong. But by the time they realize their feelings for each other it feels stale and weird. I think it boils down to the lack of chemistry. The relationship between the second female lead and second male lead was much more interesting and entertaining in my opinion. The failed romance between young FL and the idol doing his military service was also kind of weird. I dunno...this would have been a fine drama without the romance.

So those are several paragraphs of me complaining. I mean, I liked the show enough to finish it. I **have** quit a drama on the next to last episode before (*cough* looking at you, My Demon) so I liked this well enough to see it to the end. It's light, fluffy, with a few dark twists...it's worth a watch for the fun premise if nothing else.

We have all encountered difficulties in life and have all been looking for direction in confusion

Last weekend, I was bored and watched it on HiTV with my friends. The delicate brushstrokes in the play depicted every bit of the heroine's daily life. From the first ray of sunshine in the morning to the quiet starry sky at night, we seemed to experience this ordinary and real day with her.

In terms of picture presentation, the movie does not have gorgeous special effects and grand scenes, but uses the most simple lens to capture the beautiful moments in life. For example, the snack stalls on the streets, the old but warm houses, and the laughter of children in the park. These daily pictures are combined together to form a picture full of life, which makes the audience feel the intimacy and familiarity.

In terms of the plot, it does not have ups and downs of dramatic conflicts, but through a series of trivial things, it shows the inner growth and changes of the heroine. Her frustration at work, her relationship with family and friends, and her confusion and expectations for the future, these seemingly ordinary plots, but let us see our own shadows. We have all encountered difficulties in life and have also been looking for directions in confusion.

The character creation is very full. The heroine is not a perfect hero, she has her own little temper and troubles, but it is these imperfections that make her more real and lovely. And the people around her, such as kind neighbors, caring friends, nagging but caring family members, all add a lot of warmth to the film.

Short on romance, but some very laugh out loud moments

Liked:
1) Lee Jung Eun as Im Sun made this show for me. I've always loved her as an actor, but wow, she totally shone in this role! Her comedic timing is brilliant and she's very good at physical comedy. She was strong when needed, and vulnerable when necessary. If I WERE to watch it again, I'd probably just watch the scenes with her in it.
2) The Im Sun/Ko Won relationship. I loved it. I appreciated that the writers showed a little bit of what is required of an idol, and I liked how he learned her secret early on. Their scenes were wonderful, and I liked how they showed him most with Im Sun rather than Mi Jin.
3) Choi Jin Hyuk. Always.
4) Mi Jin's best friend. I loved her supportiveness, and they had some emotional scenes together.
5) Mi Jin's parents. At times they were irritatingly over the top, but in the end, I enjoyed watching them. Lee Hak Chan as Mi Jin's father, this may sound strange, but I love his face.
6) The mystery and the red herrings. I was surprised by the culprit, and that doesn't often happen.
7) The OST, especially Jung Eun Ji's Stay. She has a hauntingly beautiful singing voice.

Not so much:
1) Jung Eun Ji as Lee Mi Jin. Her pursed lip talking got on my nerves. Was she trying to be cute? Pitiful?
2) The relationship between Mi Jin's best friend and the ML's office mate. He was WAY too old for her!
3) The lack of romance. Literally the last few minutes of the last episode. I'll include lack of chemistry between leads. I couldn't even root for them to get together; I just wanted the show to be over by that time.
4) The styling. ML - all I could focus on was his ridiculously pointy sideburns. 2FL - terrible haircut, possibly achieved by using hedge trimmers. Mi Jin's mom - her red lipstick was absolutely caked on.
5) The female prosecutor served no purpose.
6) WAY too many flashbacks! The show could have been shortened if they'd left most of them out.

So, all in all, I enjoyed it. It's a fun watch if you want some laughs, but just look for too much romance.

Cringe, plot holes but interesting story

This is one of those dramas that had me multitasking to avoid beeing annoyed by the many moments of cringe, it is a lso a drama that may just may give you SLS.

However, there are a bunch of cute cats the female lead (both old and young) is really cool and found family friendships for as far as they eye can see... Almos (only almost) makes up for it. But the Chemistry between the leads is kind of off, but I do like the cast as well as seeing people that are not so young take the lead in this. However while the agism is adressed interestlingly here there is some pretty blunt fatshaming so be were. Also most of the twist were predictable there where a few that caught me slightly off guard, not so much the person but the motiv, something that is pretty rare in ks these days.

The OST is nice, some of it reminds me of Rickey Martins - living la vida loca, but the rest is nice.

An okay watch, but nothing I would recommend

One of my Best Shows in 2024, Please do Watch!!!

I loved Lim Sun more than Lee Mi Jin, irrevocably and undeniably!

Frankly, I never thought that watching a middle age woman living her life to the fullest would be so much fun. Metaphorically, this story focuses on Lim Sun, Lee Mi Jin’s missing aunt but in the diabolical sense, it is Mi Jin masquerading as her aunt. How does that happen? We have a well-meaning cat to blame for it. One thing I love about the dramas in JTBC’s Saturday- Sunday slot is that the stories are always so meaningful, the casting is phenomenal, my weekends for the past few months were so heartwarming. I’m already looking forward to the next contender “Romance in the House”. Starring Jung Eun Ji, Lee Jung Eun, Choi Jin Hyuk in lead roles, “Miss Night and Day” stretches fantasy too into reality. Lee Jung Eun as Lim Sun is so inspirational and sweet, that you tend to forget about the other leads, she outshines them. That is probably the charm of this show, which portrays a 30-year-old woman trapped in a 50-year-old body. The hijinks are phenomenal, because obviously Lim Sun never acts her age; from typing sheets at a lightening speed to climbing rock mountains, she does everything perfectly and endlessly without getting tired. This was one of my favorite shows in a long, long time, so let’s debrief!

Thriller, Romance, Comedy all in one!

I just finished the series and I can't emphasize how much I love this. The acting was solid for most and the comedy scenes were really heartwarming.

The ending was a little rushed but at the same time, it kind of answered all I needed. I wanted to know more about the villain though, like why she did this and what happened. The revealing of the female lead character was kind of unexpected because I thought her parents would react more but it fits nicely into the timing that they wanted to portray. Mijin's dad character is the baeeeee tho!

Will watch again!

This is a cute one! A great mix of comedy, romance, magic, mystery, and action. Lee Jung Eun is amazing and had me laughing so hard but crying other times! There are good character arcs, and the barriers to their romance are believable and not just the tired tropes. I loved the ending!

A Kdrama with two personalities, but only one is good.

Just like our main character Mijin the show has two sides as well, but looks like the writer didn't sleep much at night.

This drama should've been a comedy, instead of a crime, because other the crime story, everything else was working. This could've been a show with different cases in every episode while solving the puzzle about why Mijin has to be someone else at daytime, but the writer thought, including an unnecessary crime plot will make the show more interesting, and along the way, she completely forgot about the main plot.

We never really find out why she had to be a different person, we just got some "meh" explanation in the finale.

Using a plot like this, and not doing much with it, is just being lazy. So many plot holes in the story, I can't even count, and the way they handled the romance plot is even worse.

I actually don't know what I can say, because there's nothing much to say. The secondary romance was weird as hell with Ju. What on Earth was that?

The whole crime plot was a MESS! I'm sorry, but I can't believe that a character like that can kill so many people without any help.

The only thing that saved this show from being hot garbage is the cast and the comedy elements.

I'm disappointed!

A Tale About Your Other Self

Kudos to this production, the writing, the actors (especially the 2 female leads), the comedy, the soundtrack. all in all it is a good all-around Kdrama. There wasn't a time when I didn't want to move to the next episode. The story flowed forward, the comedy was perfectly timed, and there was just enough suspense to keep the interest high. I would definitely recommend giving this one a look.
