Sweet and pretty...
This Is the sweet and dramatic cautionary tale reminding all viewers of the importance of introducing your soon to be spouse before the wedding, especially if you are marrying some one your parents may disapprove of..It also tells us the important of planning the wedding well and knowing your guests...
Other than that it is pretty sweet and has a lovely beach setting as well as both drama some geometry all in less than one hour.
Was it great, no, but the acting was good enough and it did show a nice palette of ways to relate to the LGBTQ+ community... Some unexpected funny lines and well great use of hoodies and video...
All in all definitely an ok watch

Short, beautiful and well made
The story is simple but deliver some great message and reflection to real world which we ended up thinking about after finishing watching such a short story.I have nothing much to say about the plot except I want everyone to watch it and I really really wish they made this into a series instead of just one hour special because I already loved both Mizuki and Ryosuke.
Here I want to point out what I noticed about the writing choice of making Mizuki a lemon farmer and Ryosuke an elementary teacher. For it, when I first heard the plot it was almost too random and hilarious. Why so oddly specific?
However, after watching it I think I noticed something and how those are important to shape the characters and their story here.
First of all, Ryosuke as a teacher who works with kids, he wanted to make everyone happy even though It’s out of his reach. He didn’t tell his childhood sweetheart He’s gay afraid that it would hurt her feelings and it ended up making her wait endlessly for him. He didn’t tell his fiancé that his family didn’t approve of gay marriage bc his fiancé told him he wants a wedding in front of everyone. He fell into a deep dilemma because he was desperate to make everyone happy. The whole mess started because he was too ambitious to please everyone and it made him selfish and hurt the one he loves instead. For Mizuki being lemon farmer led to the comparison of his relationship to the bitter sour taste of it and yellow color is very aesthetic. Speaking of aesthetic, I hope you also notice how they purposely made Mizuki and ryosuke wear clothes that complement each other color both their casual and wedding suits lol IMO made the movie very pretty and pleasing.
Overall, it’s well thought and I’m glad I watched it.

Sweet gay-themed comedy
Yaoi or Boys Love series may be very popular now, but it seems to be increasingly rare to see an actual gay-themed short film that doesn't pander to yaoi fans. We Are Both Grooms is special in this regard, and those who are thinking of watching it should know what to expect. There are no passionate sex scenes or even kissing scenes. There isn't dramatic sexual tension between the characters the moment they meet. The story is not set in a world in which any random straight man can suddenly become gay. What we have is more of a gay-themed short film that deals with the issues faced by gay people. The leads are ordinary people (a teacher and a farmer) and certainly not the idealized characters we often see in BL. We don't even see that much about how they fall in love, but we can see that they are in love. The problem: Ryosuke is going through a wedding ceremony with Mizuki, but none of his guests (including his family) knows that he is marrying a man. The premise is somewhat implausible, but it perhaps does not matter so much because it is a comedy in which things like that can happen. There is empathy for the way the main characters behave, such as when Ryosuke plucks the courage to tell his parents that he is marrying a guy and shows them a photo, but they mistakenly think that he is marrying the girl in the group photo. Once that moment of courage is lost and his parents start commenting in relief that they had suspected that he was gay, it became so much harder for him to come out.
A non-linear structure is adopted to tell the story, and it can seem a little messy at first, but the story is competently and economically told. Appropriate details are revealed through flashbacks at the right times. It may not be the most interesting story ever, but it is engaging enough.
I wish there were more support for productions that portray gay people without making themselves, strictly speaking, BL. There's a certain risk taken because BL fans may not be really into them.

both cute and serious momenst
Overall: this is a 50 minute movie with an established couple. It has both funny/cute moments and serious parts. Watched on Gagaoolala (S. Korea).Content Warnings: homophobia
What I Liked
- an established couple
- their sweet moments like how they met
- that it focuses on their wedding day
- the grandma was awesome!
Room For Improvement
- choppy/abrupt editing, definitely could have used more screen time
- the one dad's change seemed a bit abrupt but maybe it could happen like that

Highly Recommended
The movie started with so many funny scenes and it made me laugh. Like half of the people in the reception don't know that the wedding is not between a straight but gay couple. Every time the groom thinks that it will go right this way, it justs.....................Loved it from the start
Moving ahead it also made me sad enough to bring tears to my eyes both sad and happy tears.
The movie is a mix of different types of scenes, and I would have loved it more if it would have been longer.
Amazing acting by the leads, loved the hoodies used and as a bonus, we got such cute leads.

More of a melodrama than comedy, but worth every minute
STORY: 8.5/10It's very much what it says in a summary. The whole drama takes place on Ryosuke's and Mizuki's wedding day, with the main conflict being Ryosuke's family not knowing Mizuki is a guy. Chaos ensues.
Initially, I expected a very OTT and slightly cringey comedy. Something that's so unrealistic one might even get offended by it. This drama is so not it. It was way darker than I thought it would be, and also surprisingly more believable (it wasn't exactly realistic, but they got close to it). So if you're looking for a silly feel-good comedy, leave this one for later date. But be sure to come back to it.
Otherwise the plot is fairly simple, and for the most part, it flows well. There are few flashbacks, which might make it confusing for some. And it's only hour long, so any character development feels rushed. I believe it had potential to be made into a full-length series, and a good one, to boot.
SPOILERS FROM NOW ON IN THE "STORY" PART!!!
TRIGGER:
Mild homophobia - not enough to make you sick, but enough to make you slightly angry/bitter/uncomfortable.
SOME THINGS I LIKED :
The lemon metaphor. At first I thought it's really weird how obsessed they are with lemons, but I ended up appreciating it.
Grandma's big line.
WHAT THEY COULD HAVE DONE BETTER:
Ryo's father's progression was too jarring for me. They tried to make it believable, but for some reason, it didn't work on me.
I would have liked a kiss at the end. It felt fitting to me, once everything was resolved.
END OF SPOILERS!!!
ACTING/CAST : 8/10
Actors fit their roles really well and their expressions were adequate. Nothing to complain about, really.
MUSIC: 7(?)/10
I'm sorry, I can't remember anything of the soundtrack. It's good enough, most likely. Inoffensive, but forgettable.
REWATCH VALUE: 8/10
Why not? It's quite emotional. Easily digestable. Should it be made into full series, I'll watch it. As for this short movie version, maybe one more time.
OVERALL: 8/10
This feels like an 8. It's far from bad. Could have been better, but not by much. Considering what they had to work with, I'm satisfied.

All is well that ends well I guess
The plot is crazy and rather ridiculous but it is cute I guess. This gotta be the craziest wedding to the guess that attended lmao. There gotta be some screws lose in both the leads I think. Idk the culture about Japan but shouldn't you meet and know the groom before the wedding lmao. I love how both the parties never wanted to meet the family of the other. Also it was kinda off-putting how everything was literally Ryosuke's fault. Like they literally went out for a 2 years and he never told his parents that he was gay and waited until his wedding day. What a procrastination king lmao. A person with common sense would have broken up with him the moment he sprouted the words 'I didn't tell them about you'. But overall it was fun ig. Not a moment of boredom cause something crazy was happening every second lmaoEsta resenha foi útil para você?

A comedic take on issues of coming out in a conservative society
Where many a movie and series fails on showcasing one or more issues faced by the LGBTQ community, along came this short story that does a great job at showing a contrast in the acceptance of the LGBTQ people in the society. The story does not waste time in showing the romantic journey of our two main leads, Ryosuke and Mizuki and instead jumps right into their wedding scene wherein we are introduced to a major problem. Ryosuke’s family and all his guests have no idea that he getting married to a guy and is worried how they will react when they ultimately find out. Despite this, Ryosuke and Mizuki decide to go ahead with the wedding and will deal with that issue when it arises.
This is where the movie paints a scene; On one side we have Mizuki’s family all happy and delighted to see the grooms walking down the aisle. On the other side in stark contrast Ryosuke’s family is confused and when the father realises what is going on he immediately objects to the wedding. Both the families move to the reception where one hilarious mishap after another, Mizuki decides to not just call off the wedding but break-up with Ryosuke.
All these issues arising from the fact that Ryosuke was unable to come out to his family especially his conservative father. The message subsumed in the comedy that coming out in a conservative society is not easy and fear of repercussions forces many people to remain in the closet. Not all families can be as open and understanding as Mizuki’s. There is also Ryosuke’s folly of trying to keep the family happy by not clearing up the misunderstanding before they reach the day of the wedding.
I recommend this movie not because it does a wonderful job at showcasing this issue but is a conversation starter and you get to laugh while these concerns are introduced as the story progresses

Sweet and Hilarious
We're Both Grooms keeps the story short, simple, and hilarious.STORY:
On their wedding day, Seto Ryosuke and Aikawa Mizuki encounter a huge problem... Ryosuke hasn't told any of his family and friends that Mizuki is a man!
We're Both Grooms keeps the story simple by starting literally on the wedding day. We learn that Ryosuke hasn't told his family that Mizuki is a guy. Mizuki tries to help Ryosuke, but it's too late and the ceremony must start. As the doors to the ceremony open, so does the hilarity of Ryosuke's homophobic father vs Mizuki's supportive father.
The comedy isn't too over the top, but there are some moments that are too funny it's cringy moments. However, we are treated to some wholesome scenes sprinkled in here and there. The best thing I can s ay is watch it, you'll enjoy it.
Ryosuke x Mizuki
Because it starts on their wedding day and finishes on their wedding day, there isn't much to analyze about the couple. We do get flashbacks and insights into their relationship, but it's not too deep. Also, we get more insight into Ryosuke's background simply because the story focuses on his family's reaction to his coming out.
Ryosuke is an elementary school teacher who always wants to please everyone, while Mizuki is a lemon farmer with a past of failed relationships. Mizuki just wants to fall in love and be happy, while Ryosuke wants to be the perfect man for Mizuki.... Which brings us to the problem. Ryosuke wanted to please Mizuki by marrying him, but he also doesn't want to disappoint his father.
Ryosuke and Mizuki really do suit each other since Ryosuke only thinks about Mizuki. Mizuki also is great for Ryosuke since he's more than willing to take things slow and go at Ryosuke's pace. I do think Ryosuke needs to be more open with Mizuki and they both need to have more communication, but it does seem like all things work out after the wedding, so they seem great of each other.
OVERALL:
We're Both Grooms is hilarious! I do wonder why neither families met before the ceremony because this would have saved everyone the drama, but if they met the two probably would have broken up and never gotten married.
Either way, I recommend watch this. It's hilarious!

Light romance
I actually clicked this movie because I found out that one of the leads is in Our Dining Table, and to see him once again is so fun lol. I missed him. First of all, this type of story is new to me. I like the comedic style and to think that everything happened in just a day really makes me laugh. I like the cute throwbacks and the part when they saw the earring is quite cheesy hahaha hahaha. It must have been a roller coaster ride of emotions if I were to be one of their guest at the wedding. They did really well.Esta resenha foi útil para você?

Endearing and lovely
What a lovely story! This quite unlikely scenario (nobody in your wedding party knows you are marrying someone of the same sex) is brought is such a way that it is never ridiculous or slapstick. Instead, it is endearing and touching, with understandable reactions and actions from all characters.Of course Ryoku is an absolute idiot not to tell anyone about Mizuki, but we get to understand his motives when we meet his family and friends and see why he just wanted to please everyone and avoid the issue. Mizuki is understandably disappointed and furious when Ryoku's indecisiveness persists. The weddingplanner makes a brilliant move to get everyone in touch with their feelings and the heart-to-hearts in this part were so well delivered and sweet that any heart would have melted from it.
I loved this movie and will surely watch it again when I need a feel good moment.
