The plot is similar as the female lead is not favoured by her family and the male lead’s family, and therefore having to rely on herself through her smart and quick thinking. Well Well, there a lot of common points between these two dramas, the first is the support of each male lead to female lead , and the big support also of female lead to the male lead, wherever in the family matters or professional career matter , and we can say that both male lead let their wives which both were by arranged marriage to work and the show their face to public ( which was something unusual back then, and the society criticize the wives who work outside and they should only have to take responsibilities of their husband's house) and I really loved this fact : the husband support wife's career.

It has the same plot about the harem fighting of the main lead’s concubine like in 5he story of the yanxi’s palace. It also includes the slow burn romance between the leads. The female character also has guts and playful the like in the yanxi.

Both dramas take place during Ming Dynasty. Displaying all Confucian values and teachings. Orthodox and conservative. Aristocrat families with a lot of family politics. Difficult mother-in-law.

Similar type of settings but both are unique on it’s own. Both the female leads are clever and smart.

Same pairing of older seasoned general and younger woman, daughter of a concubine, who aspires to be valued as an equal and has skills that the ML comes to respect. Same vibe of first love for an older guy.
Also same actress plays obnoxious lady trying to marry ML…

Both dramas show the love blooms between the main leads after marriage. But Marry Me! is less angst and easier than The Sword and The Brocade. The male lead in The Sword and The Brocade has more than a wife while in Marry Me! the male lead has the female lead as his only wife.

The dramas are not very similar but the chemistry between the leads and how the leads support one another in the drama reminds me of The Sword and the Brocade.
