Tonbi (2013)

Because in both dramas we have a father trying to raise a child on his own (with the help of friends or family), however in Kazoku the main character is getting a divorce whereas in Tonbi he is a widower.

These dramas really deserve more recognition ;)

Heartwarming dramas that deal with family, parenthood, and the relationships with people around

both deal with family, life, relationships and have a similar atmosphere and feel to it.

Both deals with parents raising kids and watching them grow and become independent. Both of their time-settings are in the past.

Although Wakamonotachi isn't exactly story about fatherhood/parenthood, the mains are really similiar - Asahi and Yasu are so stupid but at the same time incredible warm characters. Both stories tells about importance of family and both stories can make you cry. But there is no gooey dialogues and no "bad characters". There is just life that make people face many different (happy and difficult) situations.

Both provide an interesting spin of family. The film focuses on the inner workings of relations, showing the deep reflections of the main characters. We see how they interpret and process what life hands them and later, see how they decipher and resolve those issues to try and achieve a happy medium. An astonishing film for all cultures.
