Warning

This review is full of spoilers.

Korean crime drama all have the same trajectory - crime gets committed by good main characters which becomes entangled into something more evil, and then the real evil people are only there to justify the main characters role because 'I'm bad but not that bad' and then naturally they'll meet another character, possible shipping couple, and then you get unpalatable amounts of lecturing along the same lines 'don't do crime kids' and then the villain gets their comuppence. Everything from Watchers, Voice, to Psychopath diary, to Gap Dong, ALL follow this same pattern and no one besides me gets bored? Lol i dont understand!

The only ones that broke the mold -- WHITE CHRISTMAS. And HELLO MONSTER to some extent because at least it was obvious Jang naras character was being judgemental and self-righteous to some kid who grew up thinking that killing was the norm. But Seo in Guks character DID NOT which makes more sense and is more realistic because things change drastically when a sibling you think of as your own baby becomes a murderer. Even DUEL was extremely nuanced. Save Me. Children of Nobody. The Smile Has Left Your Eyes.

But that was years ago!

These dramas had nuance and complexity. I see this frequently in Jdramas like off the top of my head Aku No Hado, SCAM (Scum), Todome No Kiss, death note, Bokutachiga yarimashta, and even DYING EYE , again most of these are CURRENT DRAMAS or a year old at most.

But this preachy self-righteous lecturing really isn't the mature way to do things imo.

So, naturally this drama was no exception.

That said I was truly entertained watching this drama and Lee Ji Hoon s characters death gutted me. As did pretty much all the cast performance at some point. So I will say this, acting and direction was great no doubt. But the script was really just a very typical Korean crime drama.

So, not terrible but nothing memorable either. They kept killing people off because the story was just so bland so all the death of the brother and Lee Ji Hoon was so pointless! No character acts the way they were set up and the so called 'growth' felt more like the characters doing something really convenient to bring about a plot twist. Eh. Okay I'm done lol

I loved this drama and sorry to see it end; glad both Seo and Kang survived and I am sure they end up happily ever after in Tahiti someday, at least that is my ending to it. I enjoy Kim Kang Woo in whatever he does as he is one of the most intense and brilliant SK actors I have seen to date. I am glad to know he has another drama coming out this year in Snowy Sun (2020), I look forward to it. A job well done to all involved and particularly to Jung Woong In (Psycho Husband) for his great acting as well as to Oh Na Ra (Hee Joo) ????????.
Congratulations to Cho Yeo Jung for winning the SGA awards last week for the best ensemble cast for the movie Parasite and for her excellence award for her portrayal of Seo-yeon in this drama

Weak

Good concept, nice first episode and a decent selection of cast. However, for a thriller/mystery drama, the writing was unbelievably moronic to the nth degree. Blatantly mocking the viewers every step of the way. Every minute decision was deliberately stirred away from any sense of reason for the least optimal result possible. It even failed to deliver something with its climax, the whole last few episodes were the weakest in general.

until the story was like she stole the money and made plans with the husband of her friend it was great to watch but when one by one near her started to desire the money she took it started to became boring I mena if they shorted the story in 10 hours I would happily give a 9/10 but they dragged too much the story about the 9.9 billion.
I thought it would be something like she will take revenge on her husband, on the fake best friend at this point I would have liked to see somthinf classic then something boring like this anyway it wasn't a waste of time it was in some point of view entertaining

Money is the root of all evil!

Likes
1. Big question: how much are you willing to do and sacrifice to get 99 million dollars? So many different people trying to get hold of the money for their personal reasons, and i liked the message that money esp greed shouldn't control your life.
2. Tae Woo is probably the only "good" person in this drama, everyone else, even Seo Yeon is so gray. I loved it because it felt so real (although the situation is not) - as much as i love to hate Heeju or Jae Hun, i could understand them. Even Minkyu and Seung Jae, i actually felt bad for them.
3. Funny that almost every time, In Pyo gets the money, and yet at the 11th hour, he suddenly had a conscience and went back for Seo Yeon. And the money ends up with the right person.
4. Tae woo's confession and Seo Yeon telling him about his brother's death was painful.
5. Loved Seung Jae even though his character didn't stay long.
6. Probably better if this ended in 12 eps. Loved everything until Seo Yeon saved the main villain. The whole part about Daniel Kim was messy plotwise.

Dislikes
1. The main villain is not convincing to me. Maybe it's because the face of the actor is too nice to be scary, or because he doesn't have any background story that will make me at least understand his motivations. Drama mostly told us he was bad, his goons kill people but I don't see him actually do anything more than to look expensive.
2. The final showdown was underwhelming because i expected something as explosive as the epic scene in the middle but still okay since it neatly wrapped all the character stories (mostly through death lol)
3. The final scene between Tae Woo and Seo Yeon.

Rating: 8.5/10

I tuned in because of Hyun Woo

Disappointed that Hyun Woo’s character was killed off in the first episode. I quickly became bored because of all the people chasing after the money. Seo actually lets Tae Hyeon die for the money. Why she’d want to trust a man who cheats on his wife, who happens to be a friend is beyond me.

The only character I ended up rooting for was Tae Woo. A shame he fell for Seo.

Anyway the chasing after the money just got tiresome. The plot devices were too predictable. I really tried to hang in there but it’s difficult when I really only liked one character.
