p lighthearted and easy to breeze through

This was exactly what I needed! I watched this show for the second leads (who were absolutely adorable and as for every show that I watch for the second lead couple, we definitely don't get enough of them ... writers give us more than crumbs for our favorite couples!) but I ended up being pleasantly surprised! It was better than I had expected and I enjoyed it a lot! This was a pretty lighthearted watch, and although there are some filler plot points/aspects, you don't get frustrated and it's easy to breeze through the show. Both couples were so cute and this show was pretty funny! (I really thought that the secretary friend and the manager friend were going to be a thing at the end but ... she ended up getting randomly married?! I didn't really get the point of that) Eun Ho's and Sa Ra's relationship is what I came for and what I wanted out of the show, and the only thing I was dissapointed about it was that we needed more! Also Seo Hyun Jin really served us looks here as Han Se Gye sheesh.

Good start but...

The Beauty Inside starts off strong with its unique concept. However, the show just gets boring when the main couple gets together. The second half isn't great and the last act of the show dragged for me. I also grew tired of the OST because they played the same 5 songs every episode. I think it was also based on how frequently the same songs were used. I feel like the show could be better if they trimmed it down. Overall, I'm surprised by the strong ratings. The show just didn't keep my attention for the whole runtime.

Hidden gem

I was going to pass on this at first but was bored and found description interesting, then finding out that the disability that the main character had was actually a real disability got me to hit the play button. And thank goodness I did.

What a great show with loveable characters and such an interesting twist to your typical love story. They also kept the story believable for the most part. They developed the romance at a steady pace, giving you almost no moments where you would say "ok lets move on". The actors and actress did a great job in their roles bringing a uniqueness to each of the characters.

If your looking for a unique light romcom with great characters and cast and multiple romances going on and don't skip this one.

I remember watching the movie called The Beauty Inside earlier this year and it was magical! When I heard that a TV drama of the same title was about to air, I felt nostalgia and excitement filling my body. But the drama had disappointed me...

I'm a bit generous when I give this drama 7/10 as an overall, but I couldn't give it less since I admire the movie too much. Just like many other Korean shows, it started off amazing, and slowly but surely went on to be a waste of time. The plot was a spin on the gender: now, a woman was going to change her appearance once a month, which I thought was a bit more fair, since she turns back to herself and leads a perfectly normal lifestyle after changing back. Furthermore, I'm a big admirer of the actress Seo Hyun Jin and her work, so naturally, I had really high expectations for this drama. I knew that the actress would still shine when the show went downhill, her presence kind of saved the show in the end??? But the main flaws with this series was how unreal the relationship between the leads felt. Also, the male lead's illness was the biggest wtf I've seen in a long time (way to go, Korean scriptwriters, you're very creative). In addition, some side characters lacked screen time and you couldn't really delve into their own little stories. And the biggest issue of them all was the amount of episodes. They just purely ran out of ideas. Example A: the last episode was utterly unnecessary and had no effect on the viewers whatsoever. As a big plus, I'd say the soundtrack is very nice to listen to. That's all.

So, before watching this, give the maternal movie a watch. I'm sure you'll fall in love with the film, then you can compare it with this show. I still don't know if it was worth watching with all of the empty-meaning episodes...

Basic premise is our main characters both have some unusual circumstances. Han Se-gye (Seo Hyun-jin) is a top Hallyu star who transforms into a completely different person for one week out of each month. Where as Seo Do-jae (Lee Min-Ki) suffers from Prosopagnosia or face blindness. However, he can somehow recognize Se-gye even when she is someone else. Already, the two have a unique tension which makes me want to see how the relationship evolves. Han Se-gye may not have the wealth and power as an actress compared to Do-jae who owns an airline (and follows the stereo-type in dramas of being the only male heir in his family), but she makes up for it in spunk and intelligence. The fashion, sets, and styling are top notch, but not over the top. Throw in veteran K-drama actor, Ahn Jae-hyun as our heroine's best friend and aspiring priest, there is a brevity and freshness to this drama

It's extremely human when it comes to the relationships, aside from the Veronica Lodge-esque level of wealth between our main couple. There are no false attempts to hide their flaws, and were not talking about the obvious challenges of forced transformation or the inability to recognize your mom who is six inches away. No, we're talking about the struggles anyone might face, such as jumping to conclusions or forcing your own perception onto another. What I love about this series is how it continually lulls you into a false sense of K-drama security. You think you know what is coming, but then in a snap, it surprises you with something unexpected.

The show was good for the most part. I like the start of the story more then how it wrapped up. It wasn’t boring at all. But it still a great show. I felt happy, mad, sad. I was also a little disappointed on how the story ended. The romance was good. I liked how the girl in the story would transform into another gender, age, look and so on once a month that was cool. I liked seeing who she would become next becuse I never knew who it would be. This was cool that she was famous. The actor that played her love had great chemistry with the actress. There outfits, hair and makeup of all the actor and actress was good. The drama that was in the story was good for the most part. I think that the second couple was less believable that they were really in love with each other to be honest. They could have done better on the second couple. But over all the character were well developed and good. The script was well written and the acting was mostly good. The translation was good. It a fun watch for sure.

Generic but satisfying!!

A generic rom-com drama that will make you feel warm and happy inside. This drama doesn't really have a nail-biting exciting plot or head-turning twists. What it does have are cute, well-written characters and the interactions between them. If you are looking for a fun and light hearted drama with satisfying ending and great music, minus those pesky annoying scheming villains at every step, then this drama is for you.
The main attraction of this drama is the interaction among all the characters. The beautiful casts in this drama coupled with the great chemistry among them makes this drama stand out from the rest. In this drama the chemistry between the second leads were almost as interesting as the main leads. The supporting characters were also great. This drama shows the impact great friends and supporting family members can have in people's lives. It is one of the very few dramas where I was satisfied with the supporting characters.
The mood of the drama is very well balanced. Even though most of the time the drama heavily leans on it's rom-com aspect there are some heavy moments perfectly placed to make things balanced. No problem is too big in this drama. They are always solved fast nicely in this drama and gets back to being the fun rom-com that this drama is.
The music was quite catchy and well placed, which complemented the overall atmosphere of the drama.
As I have said already this drama doesn't have any fresh intriguing plot and that is, in my opinion, one of it's strong points. It's a very good drama to re-watch when you are out of fun lightweight dramas to watch in a lazy relaxing day.

Before, I wasn't really fond of Seo Hyun Jin. Mainly because of my first impression on her from Another Oh Hae Young. I found her character there whiny and annoying and that impression stayed with me even after watching her other dramas. However, I was surprised by her performance in this drama. All my prejudice about her vanished. She was outstanding, both her visuals and acting. Wow!

I liked the movie version of this drama, that's why I decided to watch this but my oh my, I LOVE the drama version more. So simple, so straightforward. Love everything about this show, from the cast to the OST to the story line. Love love everything.

Congrats to the whole team behind this!

I liked this drama well enough that I finished it in two weeks, but it did not stir deeper emotions within me. The story is quite simple, so the characters drive most of the drama and it fits the concept really well.

Both of the main couples are interesting and keep the dynamic tempo of the show. This was a highlight for me. I also liked the secondary characters, even the extended families - they felt real enough not to be just props, which often happens in light dramas as these. Every single character had an agency, which was very nice.

Han Se Gye was an excellent lead. So gutsy, which really suited the drama. I must also give credit to the "temporary" Se Gyes, who were all highly skilled and gave excellent performances.

The downsides of the drama were definitely the culminating parts in the second half that were unnecessarily dramatic (what an unusual situation within a drama, haha) and bumped the lightness of the show and somehow rubbed me the wrong way. I also maybe expected a bit more from the main couple and maybe some originality.

The music was nice, I still keep humming the main songs under my breath.

Overall, this is a "harmless" drama, I laughed a lot and there is quite a couple of kick-ass female characters. It was worth my time and it probably will be worth yours as well.

Beauty inside is such a beautiful drama to watch . The thing that I really like is that is a generally happy drama and not fake in its happiness the relationship between all the people were protrayed beautifully . The sass level in the drama was too good . Although the story was not too unusual but it was fun too watch . If you like happy dramas without unnecessary and unrealistic love you will like this . Usually in kdramas the sasiness of the FL ends by about the middle of kdramas and she became meek and timid which is really stupid and unrealistic thankfully this doesn't overdo the fluffiness and love

What is Your Greatest Fear?

What is your greatest fear? Rejection? Of being alone?

This drama tells more than it is showing. Han Se Gye's (Seo Hyun Jin) character depicts a significant meaning about life itself. She has taken in so many roles since her debut that she is afraid of losing her true identity in the process. Just like her changing from one person to another for a week once every month, she is terrified that she won't be able to go back to herself one day.

Although, at one point in our lives, we would love to live somebody else's life and somebody else's world. We want to escape our reality so much that we want to become somebody else.

Favorite line in the drama.
Life is not like a movie; hug yourself. There is no one else who will love you but YOU. Love yourself every once in a while.

This drama has its flaws after episode 11. Nevertheless, I try not to focus on that as this has its potential. One thing, I like Seo Do Jae's (Lee Min-Ki) character better than Do Min Ik. He has the same cognitive disorder in the drama, The Secret Life of My Secretary. This time, I can see that he acts like a director as he is busy being that. While for Do Min Ik, I can only see him walk in and out of his office except for that one-time meeting with the stockholders. Do Jae's character here as a chaebol is more realistic than that of Do Min Ik from The Secret Life Of My Secretary.

What if the only person who can reliably recognise you, can't actually recognise anyone?

I thought the plot line on this one was really unusual, the idea of someone changing their bodies entirely was an interesting concept. Se-Gye learns to use her monthly predicament to help people and there are some really nice scenes where she's able to use her acting, her unique placement to help and empathy to make a difference to a few peoples lives. There are also some amusing interactions and a few downright hilarious moments.

General path of the story is a positive one as the two get to know each other and then get closer. There is a tough "bad bit" but it's not really *quite* in the "stupid breakup" category for me, but the cause of the whole thing was an really interesting twist so I felt it added rather than detracted from the story overall.

Actors - where to start...

Seo Hyun Jin is probably one of my new favourite actresses in the kdrama scene, having seen her in this and "Another Miss Oh" previously I find her exceptionally good, and, I don't know, there's something about her voice... I could listen to it for hours :)

Lee Min Ki - initially I was a bit disappointed because the character seems to be just a similar role to the one in "Because this is my first life" - flat, emotionally repressed, stiff. I warmed to the character though and it's definitely appropriate for the story, someone who has no ability to recognise faces is going to have an exceptionally tough time with friendships let alone anything more - so I suspect most end up just closing themselves off. As the story progresses though there are some amazing moments where he's laughing with joy and they were brought that much more to life because of the flatness of the character previously. So, ultimately, yes, very good.

Lee Da Hee - I think Da-Hee is fantastic in everything she does but I felt there was a mismatch in her character - she's the president of an airline, she's pitched as a scary kick-ass lady, but too often she comes across as a weaker character than that. Her story as she opens up to Eun-Ho however was really nice and parallelled Do-Jae's story in that she's just as cold (albeit for different reasons) and this is her warming up and realising she's allowed to enjoy life too.

Direction - I mentioned earlier i'd watched this one after "Another Miss Oh" - and as I was watching it I kept thinking, wow, the direction of this is so familiar... turns out it's the same director, Song Hyun Wook. It made it feel comfortable and familiar having enjoyed Miss-Oh.

Soundtrack was great, looking forward to listening to it in more detail later.

Lastly - just as an aside really, in one of the opening moments there's an awards ceremony, if you've watched miss-oh you should hopefully recognise some of the cast from it flanking Seo Hyun Jin in the audience, in particular Ye Ji Won and Lee Jae Yoon.

Definitely on my re-watch list!
