This drama is set in the late 1960s decade of Japan and depicts the rivalry between Manpyo Daisuke, a powerful banker, and his eldest son, Manpyo Teppei, the executive managing director of a steel firm. For reasons not yet entirely clear, Daisuke seems to dislike his own son and when Teppei finds out why, the Manpyo family is turned upside down with fatal consequences.

Both are serious venues in which the actions of one person affect and determine the fate of every relation person. Two of the best J dramas ever produced.

Strong male leads with supportive women behind them. Tragic and heavy plots with tricks and treachery- trademark of the creator, Yamazaki Toyoko.

Both are written by the same author. They remind me of the excellent American Godfather movies, minus the violence. Both are about control and power and family structures.
