Very strong start, lackluster ending.
The story started off so well and strong but alas towards the end it lacked a lot of the magic that it had in the beginning. The ending, like most cdramas, struggled to give its characters a proper send off. We don't even see the second leads towards the end of the last episode.. they just dissappear without any proper farewells. If I were to rate the show without the last 10 episodes it would have been a 10. Still a worthy watch but the whole entire "it's just a game" aspect of the show sort of dissappeared at the end. If you want a more satisfying ending with almost the exact same cast and enjoy the world of publishing I'd recommend "Moonlight" that came out a few years ago.

Wholesome, Heartfelt, Chosen Family
==final ep ending thoughts. will elaborate in the future.8.75/10
rounding to 9 for that absolutely wonderful, wholesome ending.
my mouth hurts from smiling so much 😭 the ending was so wholesome. thank you for this drama. it made my weekdays and the last two months better and warm. despite some shortfalls, it tied up well. some plotpoints left that I would have liked to be explored more - especially in regards to sanha's pain and mental health. and ofcourse his mother. so leaves me a little less content. the writer didn't push the envelope enough even she could have. maybe another drama/time.
the writer had perfect ingredients all ready to go but just didn't try/ was able to blend it together. instead went with the easier story/character w.r.t haejun and his mom issue. cuz that was a straight forward story, easier to resolve. a lot more care and attention was needed to tell sanha's story, it would have made this a masterpiece if the writer was bold enough to tackle any one of parental abuse, abandonment, trauma attachment, or mental health. instead the writer opted for none.
it's a light hearted watch, all the characters are lovable you are bound to have a good time.
i really can't forgive the fact sanha's b of a mother didn't apologize to the end. neither was juwon or the rest of the family made aware of his insomnia and struggles. i get why it's freeing him to say out loud that he's hurting too, because he as a character is written to be someone who hides all pain and lets out nothing. so it's freeing him to tell her his pain. that's fine. i don't think he was kneeling to apologise, but only in pain so that's fine too. but how can the writer turn a blind eye to the damage the mother caused him? sanha's weakness was his constant yearning for his mother's love, and her forgiveness (he did nothing wrong but he felt guilty nevertheless) - so maybe not an explicit sorry from her cuz that's too much to expect from that woman but maybe even a "i was hurting too" or something.
should have just cut contact with that mother and kept only with his sister. he deserved atleast a breakdown scene infront of juwon/his dad. haejun got one but why should sanha hold off till the end when arguably he seemed to be physically ill as well. and the only opening he gets is in front of his mom?
think the writer planned something else initially and went a different way.
the mother had a push and pull relationship with him. she wanted him in her life but it then reminded her of the dead daughter. that's why her ideal ending should have been medical treatment not migration to UK where sanha has to visit. well a complete cut off isn't possible because of his sister either. so a apology could have gone a long way if they wanted to still keep them in contact.
the only saving grace of that dynamic is the two actors who did exceptionally well showing the conflict.

Great watch! Go ahead with it ??
Good show! Don’t be swayed by those who want an exact copy of Go Ahead. I watched Go Ahead years ago and personally loved the family dynamics in the first half. However, I found the romance aspect disappointing and was put off by it. The post-time-skip part felt unnecessarily dragged. In contrast, Family with Choice handled the post-time-skip phase much better—it was engaging and fun! I think your enjoyment of this show depends on how much you compare it to Go Ahead. Personally, I was disappointed with Go Ahead, so I approached this as a standalone series without bias, which helped me connect with the characters and the story.
I’ll write more when I have time, but overall, it’s a great watch! Don’t let comparisons put you off. This is an adaptation, and I found the changes refreshing and better, in my opinion. If you’re new to K-dramas or haven’t watched Go Ahead, I highly recommend giving this a try

Great series
This series is great and I highly recommend watching it. It's not boring. I've watched episodes 1 and 2 and it's really very interesting. In just episode 1 alone, there are already many amazing surprises that are definitely unexpected and what makes this series even better is the acting of the actors.I wish the best for this series 🧡Esta resenha foi útil para você?

she’d be a ten but…
Why the hell is shower bro (I’m bad with names) the one who has to apologize?!My man over there did NOTHING, if not being born as the son of the boss of the agency, and the intern decides that that’s a problem, AND HE HAS TO APOLOGIZE?
nah-uh. not in this household my boy.
In my head I have reversed the roles, cause that’s how it should have been.
other than that the show is really good and cute, had me kicking my feet and giggle at time, and want to kill people on others but it was good. just leaves kind of a bitter after taste.

Nah man it's been such a long time since I watched a really good comforting show ( sure it did make me cry for a few of the episodes ) but the end was honestly worth it. They have such a unique trope, like even though this is a modern cdrama their conflict felt good to watch I don't necessarily mean it in a bad way, it's more like the more conflict there is in the drama the more fun since the ending was like fulfilment to that whole problem and honestly it was like that for me in this drama, ( if that makes sense to anyone reading lol sorry ) I just genuinely will always think of this drama as a special drama for me and I will always keep it safe and sound as a never going to replace favourite drama in my heart, honestly. No other shows can top this one idk why, ITS JUST EVERYTHING IS PERFECT. Legit from the chasting, the plot, the cinematography, the shots, everything honestly was just so well planned and executed. Honestly, I have recommended this to so many people, you guys should watch it if any of you guys are still debating on it hehe !!Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Found family will always heal the soul
This show is a sweet slice of life about struggle and finding a home and overcoming difficulties. Three children raised as siblings but not by blood find themselves navigating life without mothers and with prejudices placed on them due to their circumstances that were beyond their control. Ju Won who lost her mother before she even knew her to death, San Ha whose mother abandoned him after being stuck in her own grief, and Hae Jun who was left behind and taken in by a stranger. All three raised by Ju Won and San Ha's fathers creating a tight knit family of 5 for 10 years. But as life has a tendency to do things begin to unravel when the boys are seniors in high school and getting ready to graduate. They find their situations changing again and taking them in different directions separating the three 'siblings' for 10 years before the two men find their way back home.I actually really liked this show a lot. It was really very beautiful and acted very well. The child actors in the beginning were fantastic and the adult actors all embodied their roles with near perfection. The drama also makes a point to show early on in the series the difference in how Ju Won treats San Ha and Hae Jun while growing up which makes the romance later in the story more palatable for some viewers. I like how their struggles are often handled with grace and understanding between the close knit family of 5.
I also like how they made this story their own but stayed true to the characters and their personalities. Ju Won here is much more reserved in this version and I actually like that for her character. She doesn't come off as spoiled or naive but strong and independent which makes sense and fits perfectly as someone that was raised by someone that loved them so well and worked so hard. She learned from him and met her own difficulties with determination and grace. I also prefer this version of Hae Jun as well. His trauma of being abandoned and feeling like he had to earn a place and the way that trauma molded him works here. He is strong and soft hearted like Ju Won's father who raised him but his fear of being thrown away is shown to perfection here. I also really loved Dal in this show and wish she had been shown more, especially her interactions with Hae Jun which were some of my favorite. I actually preferred this pair over Ju Won and San Ha.
What did not land perfectly for me was the chemistry for the romance and I will forever hate San Ha's mother no matter version I watch. I watched this show through the eyes of having seen the original so that knowledge I think fills in some gaps that may be missing in this show because of the shorter run time. There were some things that felt rushed and others that felt too slow. Like the wedding at the ending felt rushed and unnecessary though I thought the same in the original. The last episode also felt so long and boring to me which is not a good feeling when it comes to a finale.
But overall I enjoyed this and would recommend for the found family and even for the dialogue. Some of the advice given to the characters throughout the show hits emotionally even to the viewers who may be able to see themselves in some of the aspects of the characters. Well written script, seasoned actors that are great at their craft, beautiful OST, and stunning visuals make for a good show.

A healing journey
I think I was not in the right mood when I've started the first episode because I felt, I was not really into the story until the next episode and somehow, I've found it pleasing to watch and to follow their healing journey (mainly Jae Won). It's more than a love story, it got unexpected real, relatable and touching. It seems somehow confusing like an art.
I really liked the cinematography, especially the intro that I think it was interesting and nicely done, simple yet in a stylistic way.
I don't know how to put in right words but I somehow understand the hype and that it was kind of different than I used to watch. I could give a higher rating but somehow, in my mind I feel like the way they execute the whole plot, it might not in my taste or what I've expected..? I'm confused lol
Anyway, I have posotive vibes towards this serie in general.

Perfect combination of comedy, romance and angst!!
I randomly added this drama to my page and soon after it started airing, I watched with no high hopes but oh my, I was hooked from the first episode. The banters/interactions between the characters were amazing!!!Acting. Actors/Actresses did a really good job. This is the reason why while watching this drama, I cried, laughed and felt everything with them.
Storyline. The storyline is perfect. Some regarded female lead as the weakest character, but I think it is totally otherwise. Every character has its place just like a puzzle and they fill the gaps. This drama uses a found family trope, and I love it! Also, the plot twists were really good and actually unexpected.
Romance. Male and Female lead have great chemistry even though there are no kissing scenes (I hope that it is not a spoiler). In my opinion ML's protective and FL's caring sides were just enough as the main focus is not about romance and when I say great chemistry, I mean it! (watch the series, trust me)
OST/BGM. I think the background music really made me feel like as I was a part of the series. (Especially "Little poem/verses" and "Unintentional big dream" available on YT with pinyin and English lyrics). While some liked the background music, some didn't. But I think it's tolerable.
Comedy. The comedy in this drama held a special place and every single joke characters made didn't fail to make me cackle.
Action scenes. The action scenes were incredible that I had to make a special passage. Firstly, I love the weapons characters used (even the weapons have their backstory and quite interesting one actually!) Secondly, the fighting scenes between main and second main male lead were very professional (They have trained a lot BTS to show us such masterpiece)
Conclusion. The drama has only 34 episodes, yet every character's backstory was clear and well explained. Is this drama worthy of your time? Heck yes!!
(Maybe there were flaws but nothing is perfect so, I rate it 10 stars)

I wish I could rate this higher
It's fun if you want to watch, but don't take the plot seriously and be patient is my advice. The ratings on this site have been wackier than ever these days. I waited patiently for the whole series to be out before starting it while peeking at the ratings every now and then so you must guess how excited I was seeing it with such great ratings.
I started and immediately saw the problem with it, the pot makes absolutely no sense every single carachter is stupid to a fault. It's so unbelievably ridiculous that it's funny. While watching I kept switching between being so bored my brain would shut down for a few minutes and so amused with the ridiculousness that I couldn't stop watching. I wish they had leaned in to the absurdity of it more, if so it would've been a solid 10, but unfortunately they were serious about it so it's not.
The romance plot was put in the back seat for far to long and when it finally took off it was rushed, like they'd been boyfriends for what 10-12 hours a day or two maybe and they had already decided to adopt a child??!!! whn!!?? How??!!
Anyway it's a happy ending, it's cute and funny and I love Yin and War, but I'm not going to rate this a 10 when it clearly not just because of that, I hope they continue to work together and get better scripts going foward.
I'm going to go bawl my eyes out with the best story and then watch Love mechanics to bring the mood back up.

Worth the watch, I guess
So as much as this show made me want to pull out all the hair on my head, I have difficulties being harsh about it. For starter, the positives ; The ost of this show is simply incredible, most of the song by the fictional band Eclipse are on my daily rotation now lol. Also, the ml and fl acting is really believable and they have a pretty good chemistry, this show was really strong when displaying their love for one another, they are many really, really cute scene with them. As much as I want this show to be a 10/10, it’s not. The story felt so stupid at times, the reaction and decision of characters felt to predictable or on the contrary , so stupid that it’s unbelievable I still liked this drama that much. If you want a cute story with a beautiful ending but that will make you question your sanity at times, I recommend!Esta resenha foi útil para você?
He Mei was bolder and kinda diva (as she should) while Kang Seo Hyun is more reserved character, I think both really match Li Hai Chao and Yun Jung Jae, cause despite both are The Dads, but their characters were totally different
and it took me until the very last episode to realized Dal = Yue Liang (Ming Yue's nickname)
many said FBC would do romance better than Go Ahead, I don't agree
because what people dislike about XiaoJian still happened to SanWon
Zi Qiu's arc doesn't need romance, and despite it's good to see HaeDal ended up together, but Hae Jun was way too dense, not just in romance but in general
and Yun Jung Jae Kang Seo Hyun wasn't developed as good as Li Hai Chao and He Mei (that I personally think they were also rushed)
personally i watch this to see how it would developed HaeDal and Jung Jae Seo Hyun but it kinda let down despite them being cute couples
I'm not liking Kim Dae Wook as much as I love Ling He Ping, but he was so funny in last 4 episodes, he should've got more funny scenes just like Ling He Ping, and poor man still pining over his ex, but glad he choose his sanity first

Sharing My Thoughts on This Drama
This is my first review, and I wanted to share my experience with this drama. It contains some spoilers, but I’ll try to avoid them as much as possible. The acting is undoubtedly one of the highlights. The cast did an amazing job, the CGI was well-executed, and the story started off with great promise. Special mention goes to Li Mo and the Guard, who, in my opinion, were the best characters in the series.
The initial premise was also captivating: the protagonists (ML and FL) lost their parents to murder during their childhood and reunite 10 years later. While the ML seeks revenge, the FL lives a peaceful life, unaware of the truth because she has lost her memory. This setup was intriguing and well-developed—at least in the beginning.
However, as the episodes progressed, the storyline started to lose its way. Many nonsensical events unfolded, especially toward the end, where the plot completely fell apart and became a chaotic mess. The narrative boiled down to an endless pursuit of the criminal mastermind, only to reveal that they were taking orders from someone else, who in turn was following instructions from yet another person. This made the story feel repetitive and overly complicated.
Another issue was the character Hua Li. She was rescued during a pivotal criminal case and then pretended to be the ML’s childhood friend. This narrative choice felt questionable—why couldn’t this part of the story have been given to a different character? It would have made more sense. The way Hua Li was introduced felt forced, especially since her encounter with the main characters was supposedly pre-planned by someone. Given the circumstances, such planning seemed impossible. Furthermore, Hua Li’s critical role in the finale only added to the confusion. Dividing her role between two characters might have been a more logical decision.
The final episodes were a complete disaster. The story veered off track entirely, and it felt like I was watching a different drama. I was deeply engaged during the first half, but I continued watching the second half only to finish it. The disappointment was significant.
Despite its strengths—such as the acting, the OST, the CGI, and the promising start—the script ultimately failed to maintain its quality until the end. This undermined the overall experience.
Unfortunately, I don’t recommend this drama. Normally, I’m not overly critical of storylines, acting, or CGI; I simply enjoy watching and appreciating. But in this case, the disappointment was so great that I felt compelled to share my thoughts.
