The plot for this drama isn't original, but it is still good. I swear they used every Korean drama trope that has been invented. There is long lost family members, amnesia, hateful exes (or in this case they are still actually married for a while), hateful and loving parents all based around three different sides trying to gain a hotel in Haeundae. The one real complaint that I have is that the ending did not provide enough story between the leads. I get they felt the need to wrap up all the extra characters story lines, but it is still annoying.
The acting is pretty good. It isn't the best I have ever seen and there are a lot of insignificant characters. The one character that I enjoyed the most is Go Joong Shik played by Im Ha Ryong. He is so adorable and brings the entire story together. Kim Kang Woo's speaking pattern in this drama is what drew me in. He was excellent. I have never seen Jo Yeo Jung in anything, but she is cute and funny while being strong enough to take care of her family in her role as Go So Ra. Jung Suk Won plays the second male lead of Choi Joon Hyuk. When are they going to stop putting him in supporting roles and make him the lead so that he can get the girl? I'm ready for it drama world!!!
The music is ok.
I probably won't rewatch it, but I don't regret the time I spent watching this drama.
Overall I would say that if rom/com is your favorite genre, then you should watch this drama. It is cute and funny.

I contemplated writing a review of this drama for so long. Because i had not seen all 16 episodes, i thought myself unfit to review Dream High 2... But i have come to the conclusion that I will never finish this drama, so now is a better time then any to finally write a review.Let me start off by saying, I did genuinely enjoy some parts of this drama, which led me to continue watching until the 14th episode where i finally gave up.
It seems the best part of this drama was the music, which of course coming from JYPE was very good. The story was mediocre at best.. It started off on a good note with a completely different plot from the first season which i liked a lot because you can't have the same thing twice. Unfortunately it went all down hill from there.
The two leads (i consider them the leads, but really I'm not sure at all..it was that confusing) have absolutely no chemistry whats so ever which is strange because one would think a popstar dating a talentless nobody would be pretty interesting. it ended up being quite the opposite. When they finally do get together they suddenly both become shells of their former quirky selves and I just can't wait for them to break up. This is as close to a spoiler as ive ever written in a review so im going to stop here.
The main antagonist is just completely unrealistic and unreasonable.
It's not very clear what the actual big 'conflict' is in this drama.. its really just a bunch of random occurrences.
That's all i really have to say. Maybe one day i'll watch the last two episodes and my mind will change, but i doubt two episodes can make up for 14 mediocre ones. take care ^^

Acting/Cast: Personally, I feel they really struck gold with this cast. Eun Ji was exceptional in her role as an H.O.T fan. When they were mentioned, she was ecstatic; when they were insulted, she was ready to defend them. Even if I wasn't already like her in that respect, I'd have no trouble believing her acting.
The chemistry between everybody was fantastic. Eun Ji and In Guk played the role of friends from birth really well.
Music: Throughout the show, you hear music from virtually every year between 1997 and 2012, and it's fantastic.
Rewatch Value: I'm not a big fan of rewatching dramas, but I could easily see myself watching this again in the future.
Overall: When it comes to watching dramas, it usually takes a lot to impress me. The fact that I gave this a 10 all-around really speaks volumes.
I loved this drama. The first half was a lot of comedy with some drama thrown in; the second half was a lot of drama (well acted drama [seriously, there were a few times I just had to cry along with the characters]) with some comedy thrown in; the whole show was a perfect mix of both.

so almost everybody who watches asian drama has seen one or the other version of hana kimi.. i have tries seeing them all..and with a very open mind..my favorite as im sure it is for most people is the 2007 japanese version.. i expected the remake to be an improvement or atleat more entertaining than the previous one (why else would the make one??)
but it was EXTREMELY disappointing.. the characters are trying way too hard! u dont see them grow..most of the time ur left wondering if u missed something somewhere...the nakatsu is trying to copy Toma Ikuta to the last eyelash and is sad to watch.. mizuki was decent.. this one definitely look more like a boy than maki (im not sure if thats a good thing coz we know she is female anyway) and now to the BIGGEST disappointment of them all! IZUMI SANO shun oguri did a brilliant job portraying sano u could understand and sympathize with shun oguri"s sano..u could see him open up little by little..see him grow and u came to like the characters more and more as the time passed..namba and sekime too..but here u r left with a fluttery sano who u end up wondering if he really needed help on the first place
the good points;
it manages to be what hana kimi is supposed to be funny light and has its moments. it is not a comeplete copy of the original so thats good, so watch it if u are willing to with an open mind coz even through its not as good as the original its atill a good show..but pleases dont forget what i said about the open mind :D

No matter how hard I tried, I didn't like it and I don't know why it encountered such a success.
I have problems with the plot, the characters and the ultimate meaning of this drama.
I found the plot highly un-original. Change a couple of names and the setting, and you're left with a déjà-vu: arrogant successful man is changed by simple, goodhearted woman, there's a second female who enters the picture, the hero's got some unresolved issues with his personal life, a lot of running around the city - for lack of any transport, I suppose - and there's the ever-present shilly-shally which goes on till the very end (accompanied by my yawning).
Fine, a plot doesn't need to be original to be well told. More often than not, the lack of suspense is successfully replaced by a strong characterization. And here comes the true sore spot for me: the characters.
Toru Hyuga is quite the obnoxious "genius", a pity he doesn't compensate his bad temper with any particularly charming trait. He changes, inasmuch as he becomes a little humbler towards the end, but I fail to be attracted to him even by a little.
Which makes it even harder for me to empathize with Makoto, who seems to be bewitched by his creativity and his success-driven nature more than anything related to him as a man. The result, in my eyes, is a badly matched couple of disagreeable people with no love chemistry at all.
What bugged me the most is the way Makoto's character is depicted. By what absurd criteria can a young woman who is good at her studies, has a formidable memory, can compile the income tax return of a little business in one night be called "stupid"? Yes, she isn't a computer genius, so what? Are our IQ defined by how good we are at computer programming? Instead of creating a character who could truly complement Toru's glaring shortcomings with her own talent, they gave us a woman who either laughs hysterically when embarrassed and blurts out the first thing that comes to her mind, or apologizes for... being stupid, of all things! As for character development: none whatsoever.
Asahina? One episode he's black, the next he's blue. Disquieting.
The only consistent, pleasing character is Yoko, but we all know from minute one what her role in this story will be.
On the good side of the charts are acting and music. They all acted their part very well and did their best with what they were given. I'm also ready to grant the drama a couple of intense, heartfelt moments, which manage to raise the overall score by a little.
Needless to say, I'm not going to re-watch this. I'm sure there's more to say about it, but I'm honestly tired of thinking this thing over when in fact I should simply borrow a good MDL friend's definition, call this drama "harmless" and forget about it.

Edit: someone rightly pointed out my wrong use of the word shizoid. I apologize and edited to correct the mistake. :)

i rarely watch japanese because they have little romance in them but this show proved me wrong..it has just the right amount of romance mixed with perfect comedy and a tinge of philosophy added to it
just like a perfect recipe which tastes wonderful
like other dramas i had no pains in following the story..its a short drama so ther was not a single second i found it dragging or lacking.
it was filled with sharp and witty dialogues and made me laugh like crazy in some weird situations.i really love how the japaenese make ther comedies..though it rediculous but at the end of it we do laugh like ther's a comedy show goin on.
the acting department was good as Matsuda Shota and Karina were the best actors for me.Matshuda definately shines like a star though most screen time is given to Tamaki Hiroshi.he as a playboy photographer bought the most honesty among all the women he shuffled with.a very unique talent for sure. and frankly he was too good in this overcoats and white shirt.Bad boy.totally believeable
i found the character of Usami very irritating because he was too obsessive and a stalker to boot.
Mei reminded me of girls who i simply detest for the plain fact that they are too idecisive.but she's atleast bearable.yukichi on the other hand was one character who was pretty relatable.trying to buy love with money.happens all the time.
kiku rin was a very interesting character as we never know do we really see his real side or is it that its all an illusion..the guy's a mastermind in terms of pschology..wish he had met Freud..it would have been more interesting..:D
the characters wer the best iv seen..they wer just too weird for my taste and tht is the sole reason why i love them..i marathoned through the drama in just 2 days while juggling with so many assignments.no easy task.trust me....thts how awesome it was.the music picked simply fits and at just the right moments it springs up.
this drama is pretty good in the whole discussion about things which are not discussed so openly or considered a taboo.so a thumbs up for tryin to deal with such things.and its pretty original.from the plot to the characters.shuffling your partners for a week and continuing to do so every week.PERFECT
a must watch for all addicts..:)

The story revolves around a man named Kashiwaba Toji and his love life, both present and past, set up in a department store where he works at. Everything was going well for him, even with his ima-kano (current girlfriend), Hayakawa Nao. He was just starting to get used to his new job and newly-found relationship, but after a fateful encounter with his moto-kano (ex-girlfriend), Saeki Makoto, his whole world turned upside down again.
It's kind-of a typical situation where the former couple never really got over each other, but since there's a new person in either one of their lives, both of em are being passive about it. Although it's based on that type of situation, it's not the cliche for me, after I finished the drama. It's very realistic, and although it was not the best, it really gave a slice-of-life situation where one can be really torn between the pain of a love you never got over, plus the unclear reason of your separation, and the new love you gained but slowly forcing to commit yourself.
I did not like Toji's character at all -.-' Sorry to say. He's so.. uh. I mean, I even read somewhere that Tsuyoshi said that he did not like playing the character at all. Maybe that's the realistic feel to it. I can't really point out what's wrong with Toji, but I know he just feels... uhh.
Anyways, Hirosue Ryoko and Uchiyama Rina did a good job on their roles and made me cry. So, the casting was really good ^^b It's just Toji really -.- But, really, I can't imagine any actor playing Toji except Tsuyoshi. Hm, maybe Nakai Masahiro? or Matsuda Shota? But, oh well.
The music was just, Heaven. HAKKA Candy by Kinki Kids was great especially the insert song titled Teko's Theme. It's in English and the meaning was just really beautiful. So, OST is OutSTanding to me :)
I do recommend this drama to those who wants to see a real slice-of-life kind of drama. I think not every person will appreciate this, but those who really likes dramas, will definitely appreciate and see what this drama is really for. I would definitely re-watch this, but not any time soon. Maybe if I have time in the future.
Have fun with this drama. It's nice, not the best, but very heart-warming :) Enjoy

I'm a little bit late to watch this, because the summary of this drama doesn't attack my attention. The cast that i dont know well, and first i stop watching after first episode!. But i push myself to watch two weeks later, and it's a really right decision!
What I like so much is how the story jumping the time between now, past, and future. And then every episode has a good theme with good moral message. The chemistry between Yoon Jae and Shi Won, Yoon Jae and Tae Wong, and also between Yoon Jae and Jun Hee, is very touching! I smile, laugh, and cry in every episode.....
The scene that makes me cry a lot, is when Yoon Jae confessed his true feeling towards Shi Won, and at the same time he also decided to leave her.
Finally I find my favorite drama this year!!!

Acting/Cast: I think they did okay with what they were given.
Music: While I liked a lot of the music throughout the show, I scored it lower because, like the story, it was focusing too much on the main 4 characters. There was a cast of skilled people on this show, but when it was time to perform solo, as duets, or as groups, everybody else usually got pushed aside and you never got to see them. If you did get to hear them sing, the camera usually still ignored them.
Rewatch Value: I don't usually rewatch dramas.
Overall: In the end, it didn't rate high on my list of dramas. If they had focused more on the actual performing aspects of a show about performers, instead of the complicated love square of the main people, it would've been deserving of a higher overall score.

The cast is great and have wonderful chemistry. Seo In Guk (one of my newest Hallyu crushes) and Jung Eun Ji (so realistic in her portrayal of Shi Won, it just fit her perfectly) were great in their portrayals as Yoon Jae and Shi Won and I hope to see more of them. Everyone meshed so well that you could not help but love all of them.
Honestly, I would recommend Reply 1997 to everyone. It's something fresh and different to watch. The storyline is not too outlandish, but too simple either. I hope there will be more dramas like Reply 1997.

This miniseries with only 1 episode and 30 minutes long is so good that I rewatched it like many times after just watching it yesterday(September 30, 2012)! It has a small little story but the purpose of this is to show the beauty of Korea. It had it's cute/funny moments that had me fangirling and almost dying from laughter! x)
Note: If you want to watch something that has a serious story line then this is not for you. But if you want to watch something just to kill time that is both cute and funny (with lots of eye candy) then this is for you!
Story: I gave it a 7/10 because even though it didn't have a serious story line, it was still good.
Acting/Cast: What can I say? I LOVE EVERYONE IN HERE! Know the actresses from some dramas, know the actors from some dramas/K-Pop groups. Okay, my rating for the Acting/Cast can be a little biased but I didn't see any mistakes in this, like awkward acting, so this is a 10 for me! ^^
Music: Really great so it's a 10/10 for me! I really love the OST for this little miniseries. SHINee, Tiffany (SNSD), Bobby Kim, and Super Junior sing for this! Unfortunately, BIGBANG doesn't sing for this but I'm not going to be biased here; As I'm a YG stan but not a hater of the other big 2~ ^^
Rewatch Value: I gave it a 9/10 because I did rewatch it again many times after just watching it. Trust me, you'll want to watch it again ;)
Overall: 8/10. Very Good!
