The most beautiful bundle of complexity in GL media by far.

Let me first start off with the writing. Despite initial concerns with the problematic novel it's based off of, the writers did a fantastic job in making up for the flaws of the book in the series. The necessary changes made, the pacing of the plot, and the flow of the story all contributed greatly in cementing this show in my heart as one of, if not the best GL I've watched so far.

Now let's get into the acting. Namtan did a heck of a job differentiating Oom from Ai. It genuinely felt as if they're acted by different actresses by how well she played the two characters. Film was a natural. She played the role of a woman who is blind perfectly, and at times it was scary how real it felt. But that's just how well she embodied her role. Not only this, she really has this natural artist's ability to capture your attention and be enamored by her acting that just gets you in the feels. NamtanFilm is by far the most balanced GL tandem in terms of acting. They match each other's amazing acting ability, making it easy for viewers to feel what they intended for scenes to elicit.

For my most loved part of this show: its complexity. Characters are extremely flawed, morally grey, and realistic. Yet, the writers did not fail to bring out the humanity beneath these characters to make them appeal to the audience's hearts. Its themes are also extremely heavy yet are handled and tackled well enough to not make it problematic. This balance was what made the show more engaging, enjoyable, and memorable. Especially with Jan, Pang, and Pim's love triangle. It was a whole lot. Although their story was not quite deepened and not dwelled enough for there to be any attachment felt by the viewers for them, it just goes to show how bold and complex Snap25 went with Pluto.

Additionally, the fact that a lot of redemptions happen in this show makes it a relatively easy rewatch despite its heavy themes (Episode 11 angst was way too much for my emotional self though so definitely except it). I'm not a fan of rewatching at all, but Pluto is one of the few shows that I would willingly rewatch for the feels alongside Reverse 4 You.

No doubt in my mind this is going to be GMMTV's best GL show for quite some time.

Short yet the slow-burn tension and romcom vibes were everything.

The only downside to this mini-series? It’s just a mini-series.

The romcom vibes were on point, with comedy bits that were genuinely funny and super entertaining. The acting was amazing, and the pacing worked really well despite the short episode count.

The slow-burn longing between the store owner and the interior designer (I think that’s what you call her in the show?) was so good (all thanks to great acting by the leads). The little bit of angst from the misunderstanding, where the store owner thought she was engaged or married was exquisite. The way the store owner held back because of it? Had me absolutely losing my mind. The tension was off the charts.

This mini-series gave me all the feels, and I’m just over here wishing for more episodes or even a season 2.

Sunshine x sunshine protector trope lovers, this one's for you.

It might not be explicitly GL, but who cares, censorship can suck it.

The storyline, drama, acting, pacing, and tropes all delivered. This show is solid proof that you don’t need NC scenes to make a great GL. If you’re into the sunshine x sunshine protector trope, this is 100% a must-watch.

I’ll admit I’m biased because I love protective FL tropes, but honestly, that doesn’t change the fact that this show sets the bar for what I want in every single GL I watch.

#JusticeForReverse4You

Do people just hate good art or something? Like, why does Reverse 4 You only have a 7.7 rating? Put some respect on its name because this show is so underrated. Honestly, it’s the best GL of 2024 in my opinion, even though we got robbed with only 8 episodes.

The balance of romance, comedy, and angst? Absolute perfection. And I mean perfect. Four is a masterclass on how to write a "mean" character. She starts off as an asshole, sure, but the way her character grows and deepens makes you fall in love with her. Then there’s Wa, she’s such a fun and likable character that you can’t help but root for her.

The writing is so good and does not get the love it deserves. Their banter? Pure gold. I was kicking my feet and giggling like crazy. I haven’t read the book, so I don’t know how faithful the adaptation is, but the delivery of the lines? Top-notch.

And let’s talk about that confession scene. The build-up was chef’s kiss, and the scene itself? Best one in GL history, hands down. So cute, so romantic. Writers and directors everywhere need to take notes because this is how you do it.

Even with only 8 episodes, the pacing was just right. Every episode felt complete and left you excited for the next one. Unlike other shows, it didn’t leave you feeling like something was missing.

I love everything about this show and will defend it forever. Absolute masterpiece.

Wholesome fluff, top-tier chemistry, and the destiny trope done right.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the destiny trope Apple My Love gave us. Another unique GL trope in the bag.

From Kris's horrendous self expression skills, the show dives into sweet, simple moments that do exactly what they’re supposed to: make you smile and feel warm.

Kris’s friends? Absolute gems. They’re supportive, adorable, and might just be the best friend group in any GL ever. And let’s give props to OrmFolk because they are straight-up masters of fluff. The sweet and flirty scenes were so good they carried the show, making the simple plot feel exciting and fun. Kris and Karn’s chemistry was top-tier in every soft moment. Even the love scenes were a pleasant surprise.

Kris’s character development was a slow burn, but it worked. You could see her putting in real effort to grow, not just for herself but for Karn too. And the guys in this show? Surprisingly great. Except for that one jerk (looking at you, Toy), the men were actually helpful and even funny, making the show even more entertaining. They represented healthy, supportive relationships which is refreshing.

At its core, this show isn’t about big, dramatic conflicts (except for the last episode). Instead, it’s about Kris and Karn facing hurdles in their relationship and helping each other grow, both as people and in their careers. The communication and understanding between them are what really stand out.

So, if you’re looking for a show with minimal drama, tons of fluff, cares about its side characters, and a genuinely healthy relationship, this is your go-to. It’s a feel-good, stress-free, easy watch that will leave you smiling.

The downside? Six episodes weren’t enough. Budget restrictions led to rushed pacing of the most interesting and lovable details in this series in the last two episodes. With more time, this could’ve been even better.

Trigger warnings: Hetero sex scenes.

Soft, dreamy, and full of high school sapphic vibes.

Let’s start with the good stuff. This show is such a beautiful experience, especially for women who love women and can see themselves in Ongsa or Sun. It was so much fun to watch. The focus on communication and having a support system was really meaningful, the high school moments were adorable, and the overall vibe was soft and dreamy.

This is such an important sapphic show because it’s set entirely in high school, making it a safe and sweet space for viewers. It was pure cuteness overload, and honestly, my early high school self would’ve been obsessed.

Now for the downside: it felt kind of empty. I get that it’s a simple high school love story, but simplicity shouldn’t mean the show feels like it’s missing something. It just didn’t hit me with enough feels, and I found myself struggling to finish it.

On the bright side, 23.5 has the best soundtrack of any GL ever. Seriously, go listen to it.

Amazing delivery of tropes, drama, and feels.

The tropes in this show absolutely wrecked me. Pair those with the amazing writing and pacing, and it was something really special. And don’t even get me started on the emotional scenes, they knew exactly how to pull you in and keep you invested. So well done.

I did have a few issues, though. Dr. Fahlada’s questionable actions and how quickly Earn forgave her felt pretty unrealistic and pulled me out of the story a bit. Also, the love scenes were kind of stiff, but honestly, I wasn’t watching for that anyway. I’m here for the drama, the plot, and the feels, and the show definitely delivered on those.

The supporting characters? They delivered. Even the comedy scenes were solid, not too over-the-top, just enough to keep things fun. Way better than shows that make first-time viewers cringe at the humor (looking at you, GAP).

Overall, this was an amazing series that left me wanting more from the two lead actresses. Loved it.

A heartwarming and melodramatic period romance held back by pacing and too much codependency.

I just want to start off by saying I genuinely think 16 episodes was way too much for this show considering the theme and conflicts it had. It left a lot of room to explore Anin and Pin's relationship which was a huge upside not a lot of GL couples get a chance to do with the number of episodes given to most shows, but in terms of plot progression, it felt dragged. It only managed to truly entertain me during the first and last 3 episodes in terms of the plot. However, we clearly got a depiction of AninPin’s love fulfilling the Love or Romance aspect in GL because of its length, so no complains there. It was such a joy to see AninPin’s love. I absolutely loved their love in this series.

The Loyal Pin gave us another GL trope to be added in the GL trope bingo which is childhood friends to lovers. Can I just say how happy and giddy I was for all the childhood moments shown in the show? I used to have a favorite show when I was a kid (it was hetero) that had a childhood friends to lovers trope and I loved how it made me feel before. Now, The Loyal Pin delivered the same warm and fuzzy feeling to me and that's pretty much a testament to how good first part of the show is, in my opinion.

Let me start off with how well FreenBecky was able to put a distinction between childhood AninPin who genuinely saw each other as best friends without regarding the possibility of a romantic relationship and adult AninPin who realized they could be more than friends and that their feelings could lead them to where they want to be with each other. I think it’s a great marker of the great acting this show had.

Now, let me tackle what what I love about this show: 1) The dynamics AninPin displayed such as the serious x mischievous dynamic, teaser x easily flustered, & oblivious/clueless x flirty 2) FreenBecky's commitment to the characteristics of AninPin. Freen delivered Pin's suppression of feelings really well, while Becky did so well in delivering Anin's cheekiness and whipped nature for Pin. 3) All the sweet AninPin moments that added to their lovestory and depth as a couple. Not all GL shows get a chance to display their main characters’ love in the same level as The Loyal Pin because of short episodes forcing conflicts to take over the story, so it’s definitely one of the things I loved about this show. 4) Prik. Hilarious ass character. Always count on Nam to deliver the best comedy in GL. Love how they softened up the comedic parts though instead of it being all up in your face and loud about it in GAP. 4) How they’re unapologetic about the love scenes. Execution is always top tier as well. To be expected from FreenBecky.

One downside of this series is that it's not particularly beginner-friendly for those new to the GL genre. For someone who's never delved into GL content, recommending The Loyal Pin as a starting point might be overwhelming. The cultural nuances, combined with the series' considerable length of 16 episodes, could present a significant challenge to first-time viewers. They might struggle to fully grasp or appreciate the dynamics and emotional depth without prior exposure to similar narratives.

However, this characteristic isn't much of a negative, it's actually a key reason why the show resonates so powerfully. The extended runtime allows for a deeper, more immersive exploration of Anin and Pin's relationship, giving their love story the time and space to develop organically. This immersion is precisely what makes the series impactful, as viewers can connect more profoundly with the characters and their journey. In many ways, this depth and authenticity make The Loyal Pin a gem in the GL genre, even if it might not be the ideal gateway series.

Not only this, I’ve developed such a deep appreciation for Thai culture after watching this. Which I understand is from their partnership with Thai embassy. It’s just that this also meant it felt like this entire dragged 16 episode ad for Thailand and its culture, which would have not been a problem if only they added more engaging aspects to the plot which would have made watching it easier instead of it being so linear that causes it to be a slow watch.

Lastly, AninPin being way too codependent ruined things for me. The constant jealousy over the same people was a bit too much for my liking. Them not developing outside of their relationship in the series also was a lacking factor. Aside from each other, they have no other motivators which again goes back to their codependency and why it was a problem for me. Having to keep witnessing Anin having to leave for somewhere over and over again and Pin being devastated to be used as an ingredient for angst was another dragging and boring factor for me.

Despite all the downers I had, I grew to appreciate this show a lot. It healed a huge part of me with its great execution of acceptance from Anin's family and Pin's aunt. Something I found to be a signature by Idol Factory by now considering the impactful closure they did with GAP as well. The Loyal Pin is a gem worth trying to watch especially if you're into period drama and melodrama.

Messy, dramatic, and full of feels, this show had me hooked despite its flaws.

This show had me all up in my feelings. The way they handled the details? Chef’s kiss. Wan’s promises, her 4 a.m. trauma, and her unshakable love for Pleng. Wan’s loyalty was next level. Even when Pleng tried to push her toward Ek, she stayed true. And when she finally married Ek 13 years later, it was still all about Pleng. Wan’s basically the ultimate "lover girl," though, let’s be real, her overprotectiveness is a giant red flag. If controlling characters aren’t your thing, this might not be for you.

The love and kiss scenes? Top-tier. Seriously, no competition. However the men? Absolute headaches. Ek’s behavior throughout the show was so gross, and yet somehow it was always the girls’ fault? Wan had to apologize over and over yet Ek never did? It was disappointing.

The last couple of episodes had me side-eyeing hard. Wan attempting to end things in the ocean knowing Pleng’s trauma? That was so out of character. And the indirect slut-shaming? I had a major ick.

Even with those missteps, though, I can’t lie, I love shows that bring the drama, feels, and intimacy, and this one delivered all three all the way to the end. Messy, but worth it.

Great chemistry, heavy themes, and a love-it-or-leave-it vibe.

Blank is one of those shows wherein I enjoy the actors' chemistry and acting more than the show itself. I say this because the show's conflicts, drama, and themes feel like a reincarnation of GAP, and we all know GAP wasn't the most perfect show. It managed to get me through without experiencing the struggle to get myself to finish the show because it was THE pioneering Thai GL series. However with Blank, it is its downfall in my opinion.

Which brings me to my main concern which is the recurring conflicts that I'm pretty fed up in seeing in most GL shows which are internalized homophobia, societal judgement, and family obligations. This is not to say these issues are not worth having their representation, it's merely just me expressing how I would rather not watch a show with these themes because it's not entertaining to me but rather uncomfortable. I intend to share this since I know a lot of people also hate having to sit through a show with said conflicts since it evokes some unwanted familiar feeling which most people like me wish to escape from when watching fictional shows as a form of escapism. Plus, the age gap makes me quite uncomfortable, so I couldn't enjoy the show fully.

Now that I shared my feelings as to why I had a hard time finishing Blank despite me absolutely loving the chemistry between the main leads, let me now share what I think this series did well and kept me interested. 1) Khun Nueng as a character with a lot of unresolved internal conflicts was portrayed well by Faye. You could clearly see the inner struggles Nueng was facing like lack of self-acceptance and feelings of unworthiness. 2) Blank showed us that it takes a hurt individual to heal another hurt person. 3) Faye and Yoko's chemistry.

To sum everything up, for me, I feel like Blank is the type of show that needs someone to have subjective bias to the themes as well as to love scenes (because trust me, this show has tension and love making like never before) it has to be considered a good show by the watcher. This show may not have been for me, but I know a lot of people may appreciate it for what it delivers.

Laughs, feels, and chaos with Ayaka and Hiroko’s campy love story.

It was giving two extremely oblivious women who are crazy in love and it's extremely over the top (one of its charms and appeal of course). If you're looking for something fun and cheesy, Ayaka is In Love with Hiroko is definitely the watch for you. Yes, it's camp as hell.

As usual, the highly expressive acting style it has isn't for me, but it's what gave life to the show so it wasn't a downer, more like it made it more of an unserious watch for me and made it more of a watch for its enjoyability more than figuring out its quality as a series because it's way too short to be considered a great series to be quite honest. Acting also felt unnatural and stiff during the emotional scenes, but it's tolerable.

I mean what else can I say besides I was laughing, giggling, and kicking my feet during the entire thing. This is definitely one of those shows wherein you don't need to think at all and just enjoy the ride and shenanigans.

The story is quite cute, exploring themes such as inner feelings, self restraint, self expression, and going out of your shell, all these made the entire thing an easy watch. It also managed to get you in your feels whenever necessary which is something I always appreciate in shows.

As someone who deals with problems similarly to how Hiroko deals with hers, I felt seen and represented. Ayaka's dialogues and how she managed to open Hiroko's mind and eyes to the stuff she needs to work on with herself was such an important aspect of this story that's underrated.

Overall, it's an extremely adorable, enjoyable, enlightening show that's worth the watch for the laughs, feels, and realizations.

A warm feast for the stomach and heart.

I feel full. Partially because of all the food showcased but mostly because of finishing season 1 of this series. I never knew how much impact a show with such a simple premise would bring to me, but here we are with She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat.

Growing up in a family that has food and offering food as their primary love language, this one just hits so close to home, I couldn't help but feel warm the entire watch. It's so endearing to see how food brings people together in other aspects in their life just like how it is being portrayed in this show.

There is something oddly comforting about watching two women eat together and talking to each other about life and about anything at all. This show did extremely well instilling the feeling of coziness and the feeling you get when you truly are at a safe space.

I love how they took time for Yuki to process her feelings and be sure of them before doing anything. The theme of self discovery was well done in this series which I appreciated a lot.

I only have good things to say about this show and how comfy it made me feel while watching. Although the 10 episodes were short, the slow burn was immaculate and got me kicking my feet and giggling. A light watch for anyone looking for a sweet and simple time.

Season 2 Redemption: Fuyu has feelings now, and It’s actually wholesome.

This season focused more on Fuyu and Itsuki's relationship. I'm glad they redeemed themselves from season 1 and added more sentimental flashbacks to actually make you care more about Fuyu and Itsuki's relationship in the past and now. And I finally got my closure with Ro Asami's revelation in the end of season 1, so win for me I guess.

The acting for me was still not my cup of tea, deeming it as pretty unnatural for my liking, but it's cute how they finally made Fuyu have emotions rather than being an extremely one-dimensional character in season 1.

It's heartwarming to see Fuyu seeking for help like a logical person this time and communicating her feelings of jealousy and doubt, meanwhile her friend group trying their best to cheer her up was so funny. You could also see them being more creative and romantic with the scenarios in this season, which made it easier to root for the main leads to get together in the end. Themes of self acceptance, removing yourself from toxic familial responsibilities, and self discovery is something I applaud this series for having.

What I didn't like: 1) Itsuki's first love. She was lowkey extremely weird and forcing on Itsuki and the fact Istuki made it seem like it was alright and normal was something I didn't like. Clearly boundaries and consent weren't being set properly which is not good representation. The fact that she's delusional too pissed me off, but I'm happy she finally understood she truly had no chance with Itsuki and Fuyu and her ended up being on good terms so it's all good. 2) The constant push and pull happening especially on Fuyu's end. Like please, make up your mind, the show's way too short for this.

What I loved: 1) All the sweet moments, flashbacks, and protective moments Itsuki had with Fuyu. 2) How they have no shame with using the word lesbian. So many shows are too scared to even include the word lesbian, so I'm happy they're unapologetically using it. 3) Fuyu, Itsuki, and Tsuki family dynamic. I'm a sucker for found family tropes so seeing it in a GL makes me extremely soft. 4) How it shed light to the societal discrimination toward same sex couples in Japan. It might have been painful to see for Tsuki's part but it was realistic and really gets you grounded to reality.

All in all, season 2 of Chaser Game W is miles ahead better than the first season in terms of writing and plot. It has become a pleasant and wholesome watch.

Missed potential and uncomfortable comedy in a workplace romance.

Warning: spoilers ahead!

Content & trigger warnings before watching the show: SA, Cheating, Mean Tsundere Behavior

This exes-to-lovers trope had potential, but it lacked creativity and romanticism. Fuyu’s character starts off stone cold and unreasonable, but I tried to overlook it, understanding people cope with heartbreak differently. She apologizes for her actions by episode 5, so for those wondering, she does make amends.

Fuyu’s character swings between acceptable and illogical behavior, especially since she’s a tsundere who’s mean without considering the other party’s feelings. If you don’t like this type of character, this show might not be for you. While the chemistry between the leads wasn’t as spark-filled as I prefer, their cozy dynamic worked for a more comfortable vibe.

Some emotional scenes could have been better with stronger acting. I did enjoy the contrast between Fuyu’s workaholic nature and Itsuki’s motherly, hands-on vibe, and their parenting dynamic with Tsuki was adorable.

The show also explored workplace struggles for women, like menstruation, having kids, and having to use "female charm" for career gain. The working mother and stay-at-home father dynamic was refreshing, and Fuyu’s character felt grounded in her dedication to work, but was also slightly problematic considering that if the genders were reversed, we would all despise the man for being such a red flag.

However, the show had major issues: 1) Sexual harassment masked as humor, which was uncomfortable and unnecessary. 2) The romanticization of cheating. 3) The lack of background on Fuyu and Itsuki’s past relationship made it hard to root for them. 4) Fuyu's unsure feelings or uncleared feelings toward her husband. How could she say she's a lesbian yet proceed to say she loved her husband without clarifying what kind of love it was? Sure we can maybe read between the lines but this kind of misrepresents lesbians and feels counter intuitive.

Despite these issues, the show was a decent watch, especially with its unique game development plot. However, the rushed ending and unresolved plot points (like Ro Asami’s feelings for Fuyu) left me confused.
