To tell the truth to me this drama is one of the mystic cases because of its popularity: it's not the worst I've watched but... The story doesn't have nothing by itself: a ''handsome alien'' and a 'pretty, depressed super star''. They fall in love. Well, if the story is bad, theoretically it's possible to make the show captivating by choosing a great cast, creating nice atmosphere and charming moments to distract from the banality of the plot (an example could be ''I'm not a Robot'', also a trivial plot but with a wonderful Yoo Seung Ho's acting and unexpected, well planned moments and some profoundness beyond such a superficial plot). However, in my opinion, Kim Soo Hyun here doesn't act (I haven't seen him in other dramas, so I don't know if he's capable of it). He simply goes from one place to another with the same insipid expression. That's all. Jun Ji Hyun acts a little bit more. The rest seem incredibly superficial. The atmosphere is poor. So, it's one of the big enigmas to me how is it possible that You Who Came from the Stars could be one of the most popular kdramas and, what the main actors are the best paid in Korea... :O

This is undoubtedly my number two in the BL dramas. To tell the truth, the Chinese are capable of making the best BL stories with the best actors, only that these BL become bromances and it's suffocating. Well, this drama is a real BL only... not finished because of the Chinese politics. So it's truly sad that a country with probably the best abilities to make beautiful, aesthetic, interesting and passionate BL stories with a wonderful cast, doesn't have the opportunity to realize it.
However, in this drama we can see such an amazing chemistry between the main characters that one can't give less then ten points, although it's not finished. Theoretically, the plot is very simple, an ordinary school story but the charisma of the main leads captivates you and doesn't let you go. I simply loved Huang Johnny's character as he, being so playful and manly too, created an incredible tension in his relationship with Bai Luo Yin. Somehow, you want to rewatch the show a lot of times because of an infinity of charming moments created by Johnny's character.

It's undoubtedly the best Asian drama I've seen (alongside Algernon Ni Hanataba). The story line is extremely sensitive, subtle and profound. Every episode is completely fulfilled, without unnecessary elements and without this usual feeling of intentionally prolonging the series. Also I love the atmosphere: rainy and green, provided with delicate sensation of nature as a shelter for a human soul. Even the soundtrack suits the drama perfectly. All the main characters are incredible: Nishikido Ryo, Erika Sawajiri and Fujiki Naohito are capable to transmit the pain with an absolute and touching credibility. Furthermore, it's impossible to stop crying while you watch it, even, if you aren't extremely sensitive. I've watched this drama numerous occasions and I think I will continue this tradition.

To tell the truth I don't understand why this drama has such a relatively low rating. I mean, yes, I know that it is dragged on, some secondary comic characters are simply weird but the hell, the story of the main characters, full of tension, drama, shadowy passions and the incredible charm of Lee Dong Wook and Lee Da Hae, is something really refreshing aesthetically. Also, I have to say that there're very few dramas I like with Lee Dong Wook but, however, because of his acting in Hotel King and Goblin, he became one of my favorite Korean actors. I must say that him suit so well intense emotions, that later I was enormously surprised by seeing him in Goblin: so good in a comic role (even more interesting then the lead there).
Talking about the story of Hotel King, it's not original but it's well acted and well showed, without all these awkward kisses and superfluous dramas of a girl (Lee Dae Hae is really capable of creating a bright and powerful role), although yes, some final episodes were dragged by the dramatic behavior of the main lead. However, the chemistry and charm of Lee Dong Wook and Lee Dae Hae (now much more mature then in My Girl and in a much more developed context), is really worth of seeing (just skip the secondary comic storyline) ;)

To tell the true this show really surprised me in a good way and I can't understand why it is so underestimated. The second thing I don't understand is how the Korean television thought about making a remake of a drama where Kimura Takuya's character was undoubtedly one of the most remarkable elements :D To tell the truth it's my favorite Kimura's drama and not in vain I emphasize his role here: a quite unusual and unpredictable character gives him a wonderful opportunity to expose his peculiar charisma and good acting skills. Although, I give ten for the cast mainly because of Kimura as the other actors were really very mediocre. However it's one of the most captivating original Japanese series I've ever seen as you really find out things you haven't expected and also you have a powerful and also unexpected final. Also there are a lot of shadows in the characters' inner world whose lack I feel in many dramas. About the soundtrack, well, I can't remember it, so I think that it didn't irritate (what is really important as it doesn't happen so often) but also wasn't perfect for the drama as in the One Liter of Tears. However, the drama has a really strong atmosphere and wonderful male lead, so I can't quit the points to it.

Well, it's probably my number 3 in the Japanese drama list. The main cast is undoubtedly brilliant: Takizawa Hideaki and Nishikido Ryo, two of the most interesting Japanese actors. However, although after One Liter of Tears I expected more from Nishikido Ryo than from Takizawa Hideaki, I must admit that Takizawa's character here is much more developed and captivating (definitely my favorite role of his repertoire). Here he has a really complicated nature and a mysterious aura. Nevertheless, Nishikido does really well in his a bit too positive role and I dare to say, adds to it more charm than it has by itself.

Another thing that I love about this drama is its philosophical nature. In a quite mythological style, the story analyzes different existential and moral questions what, unfortunately, can't be found so often in Asian dramas. Then we can find a powerful atmosphere and... Somehow you want to return to this drama, so I strongly recommend it. One of the few disadvantages I can find here is too much politics, however, it's too a question of taste ;)

I was really surprised with this drama. To tell the truth I've always considered A Million Stars Falling from the Sky one of the most underestimated jdramas, as to me it seems have a wonderful dark atmosphere, elegant aesthetics, more complicated plot and characters. However the drama doesn't have neither half of the popularity like all these superficial school dramas like Hana Yori Dango or at least like Pride (in my opinion so famous because of amazing chemistry and Kimura's acting). Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of dramas of a style of A Million Stars... and I really searched for it. But finally I bumped into Todome No Kiss which has really a huge amount of similarities with my favorite Kimura's drama.
The plot is really amazingly twisted, although the final was banally predictable and the final decision of the main lead dramatic in an absolutely silly way. However, all the atmosphere, the aesthetics, and this type of dark, frustrating, intense, a bit ill love story were so charming that you can forgive all the defects of the drama. Also the acting was really convincing and the second male lead (Takauji's character) undoubtedly catching the eye (well we don't find here so outstanding actors like Kimura Takuya but the main actors do an undoubtedly good job). So I highly recommend this drama ;)

I can perfectly understand why this drama is so popular: the brilliant cast, a really well written story of one of the most original kdrama screenwriters and quite rare in Asian dramas camp the war thematic. I really watched this drama with a great pleasure, only that thinking about it, firstly come to mi mind this adolescent love-story conception when a kiss acquires more significance when all the war. Or to be precise, when the love between lovers becomes so prudish that they, even after crossing the most risky situations, still feel to embarrassed to make love, as it were much more fearsome than all the danger they survived. And the most terrible that this prudish behavior occupies the center of the drama in like two or three episodes. It's too much, especially thinking about the age of the characters.
However, all other aspects of the drama were great. It's has a really interesting plot where even many supporting roles seem necessary (not all but really quite a lot). A war story is certainly a good material and here even the production is impressive and obviously expensive. The characters are really charming and the chemistry about the main actors (well, as we can see in reality... ;) ) is at the point. Song Hye Kyo is undoubtedly my favorite Korean actress because of her elegant expressiveness and here she's a real pleasure. I also like very much Song Joong Ki and here these two actors create a real field of charisma :D
Well, the soundtrack, unfortunately, can't be compared with that of Goblin but... the drama was fine... 9,5 :D

On the one part, is an usual, iconic Asian tragic love story. On the other side, it's one of the most fulfilled aesthetically and emotionally of the kind.
One thing that I love of this drama is the poetic power of the scenes, the combination of music-view and a perfect symbolic charge of many moments (as the very first scene, one of the best introductions to a drama I've seen, where Rain's ans Shi Min Ah's characters are laying surrounded by the nature but in different scenery and a wonderful play of light and a deeply touching song make you feel the complicated fate laying in the atmosphere; or, for example, their arms protruding through an open window, capable to transmit the sensation of wind even to a spectator). The story itself, as I've said, is really quite predictable but it's emotional tension is at the point (I don't speak only about the central love story but also about brothers relationship, especially then one of them is disabled).
The acting of the main characters is wonderful. To tell the truth, I'm not a fan of Rain as his characters usually look silly to me but here I can give him 10 points without any doubt. He's complicated, mysterious, attractive, charismatic and moving in this drama. An absolutely flawless acting. Then he feels pain, you can really believe in it (in other dramas I've seen with this actor, unfortunately, I felt a lack of moving strength). It's also my favorite role of Shin Min Ah. She's really very convincing and charming here.
The soundtrack is also absolutely perfect to the drama and one of the best I've ever heard in an Asian drama. Also, somehow the drama has a certain integrity, a strong and captivating atmosphere. It's really worth to watch, although the rating is suspiciously low :O

An absolutely charming and sensible Non Hee Kyung's (my favorite drama screewriter) and Kim Kyu Tae's (one of my favorite drama directors) work with an incredible cast. I couldn't mention any disadvantage of this drama (well, to tell the truth I dislike one song but as, all in all, this drama has one of the best soundtracks I've heard in dramas, so, it's easy to forgive...).
The story-line is playful and mature at the same time. You can see here a really interesting and complicated theme of Schizophrenia and also, the thing that surprised me, is that some of the different stories showed in the psychiatric clinic, seem unexpectedly well analysed, considering that they are only side stories. You can really find out here about various mental disorders and the potential ways to resolve them.
Another essential aspect of the drama are strong characters incarnated by such actors as Jo In Sung or Gong Hyo Jin. Firstly, I should pay a tribute to Jo In Sung, as I must admit that he's undoubtedly the most talented Kdrama's actor. It's just that judging his acting skills, one must admit that he's the less static and the most realistic, emotionally fulfilled actor we can see in a Kdrama. Although there are many Korean actors I like very much but I must admit that even in their presence Jo In Sung's talent seems incomparably brighter. Jo In Sung has really an exceptional expressiveness. And in this drama his charismatic and complicated character seems more than credible.
Talking about Gong Hyo Jin, I should say that's undoubtedly the best of her characters I've seen. She really differs to many Korean actresses and her individuality helps her to create a very interesting character. Also, the chemistry between these to is absolute.
One of the best things in this show is that even the supporting roles here are incredibly dynamic and well-acted, it's one of these rare cases I didn't want to skip any scene. So it means that this series is a sincere work without the necessity to drag on the series.
Finally, the soundtrack. There are very few cases you can see such a harmony between the soundtrack and the scenes. They really matches one another.

Firstly, I must say that Ji Sung's role here is one of the most remarkable roles I've seen in a Korean drama. I was really impressed by his ability to transform himself in several totally different characters in the same drama and with such a credibility, and considering the stunning charisma he has, such an interesting character of a guy with a dissociative identity disorder gives him an amazing opportunity to reveal his artistic maturity. So, to tell the truth, Ji Sung's character here is one of the best kdramas characters I know, as the same actor is obviously well-known not only because of his really captivating beauty.
Therefore the story of such a character itself arouses interest but also there are some quite sensitive and cute elements and a huge amount of charming, playful moments what make the drama absolutely fulfilled. All in all, it's one of the best kdramas I've seen ;)

This is undoubtedly one of the best Korean dramas I've seen. Firstly I should mention an incredible poetic power laying in it: the atmosphere of limpid, nostalgic and elegant snowy landscapes, an amazing shooting, wonderful captures of the emotions and really suitable music - all these elements make you want to re-watch the drama many times. Also the story is very well-written: to me Noh Hee Kyung is probably the most talented Korean dramas writers who's really capable of detecting some incredibly subtle threads of a human's soul quite rare in the doramas.

Well, the cast is REALLY amazing. In my opinion, Jo In Sung and Song Hye Kyo are two of the most remarkable Korean actors and here they fulfill their characters absolutely faultlessly. Jo In Sung possessed of an exceptional dramatic talent expresses the emotions in a particular and profoundly personal way, while Song Hye Kyo has an interesting combination of softness, delicacy and really intense and strong temperament. I can't count the times I've seen this drama and I also feel an immense aesthetic pleasure.

It's definitely the best Asian drama I've seen alongside "1 Litre no Namida". As the story is adaptation of a wonderful novel by Daniel Keyes, the plot is absolutely perfect. And also, precisely in such dramatic but not mawkishly sentimental stories unfolds the incredible Japanese aesthetics, which makes you feel an interesting feeling of painful beauty and unaccountable nostalgia. Besides, the acting of Yamashita Tomohisha is really flawless: he fully incarnates a mentally disabled character and does it with absolute delicacy and sensibility. I also was impressed by the actors playing his friends as they really managed to create a perfect "friendly chemistry". By the way, the soundtrack really suits the scenes and you can see a lot of brilliant and touching moments created by their fusion.

Yo Seung Ho acting here is absolutely incredible: he is capable to transform a superficial story to a real human tragedy. And somehow, although, the story seems an absurd, you can feel every main character's emotional impulse. It's really something when a guy who has to play a rich man with an unique allergy to the people and an affection to a robot girl, makes you feel it as a real thing. Only because of his acting it was worth to watch it and even to rewatch it. So, the story is more than ridiculous but the Yo Seung Ho's acting lifts it to a much higher level, even to an existential drama. But what can I say about the drama itself? Well, it's aesthetically beautiful and emotionally pleasant but other details are really superficial. However, the acting... ;D

Undoubtedly the best BL drama I've seen so far. Firstly, finally we can see interesting characters in such a type of drama, as normally in Taiwanese BL dramas, for an unknown reason to me, the characters look as if they were mentally retarded. Here, at length, we can see a mature character of a charismatic university professor who is capable of making reasonable and courageous decisions (remarkable acting). Also, I like the fact that another guy, a student, possesses quite fresh, interesting nature and he's not like these usual passive characters, weak and feeble-minded in Taiwanese BL stories.
The chemistry is really at the point. The main cast is unimpeachable, and also I have to say that it's one of these real rare cases in an Asian drama when a child seems credible and sympathetic (another example would be "Zenkai Girl", not very good as a drama but really nice talking about the role of children).
Also the story is much more mature and sensitive when we are used to see in such dramas. I was really surprised to see such a gourmet character as a no iconic professor to be the main character in a BL story. All in all, an extremely charming show ;)
