Both dramas are about female leads running for office. Both female leads are strong, bold, eccentric characters that have been thrust onto the political landscape by accident. Both dramas also show female friendship/partnership as well as fierce female competition.

Both dramas explore the darker side of human nature and psychology. They are both mysteries and thrillers.

Both female leads are employees of the male lead and both female leads go on a blind date pretending to be a chaebol, or a daughter of a wealthy, influential family. Both male leads do not recognize the female lead and end up falling for the FL's fake identity, while also being intrigued or subconsciously attracted to the female lead's real identity.

They both have high school settings and love triangles. The male leads in both dramas have a simple, child-like, pure adoration for the female lead. However, while Love Alarm has some fantasy elements, Extraordinary You is definitely more fantastical. Extraordinary You is also lighter fare.

Midas is also a financial drama. Jang Hyuk plays a lawyer who works for the chaebol Yoo family. Kim Hee Ae plays the eldest daughter of the Yoo family and is the president of a multibillion dollar hedge fund. It tells a story of greed and revenge through events like stock manipulation, mergers and acquisitions, and company takeovers.

Golden Cross also deals with the financial forces behind the Korean economy. Golden Cross is about the corruption of the people in power behind the scenes.

Empire of Gold also has a lot of references to economics and politics. It tracks the the fight for power amongst a chaebol family from IMF financial crisis to the present.
