Wow. What can I say? I anticipated so much to watch this movie as I loved the manga so much.

Going straight to the direction of the film. The transition lines weirded me out the most but I figured that the director wanted to aim for an old film feel? I can't quite point out the technical term for this, but anyway I hope the message was understood. Lol. Anyhoo, the direction was what I imagined when I was reading the manga. The order of events were good and while thinking of what will happen next, I wondered if there will be a sequel. Because the manga is freakin' awesome and it's a long-running type... So I just wondered while watching.

Next up is the cast. I think Yamazaki Kento was perfect for the role. He did well as Shin. Also, Yoshizawa Ryo was soooo convincing as Sei. I liked both leads! Perfect for the role. Nagasawa Manami was stunning! As always, I am a fan of her work. Hashimoto Kanna was cute being Ten. Whoo, if there will be a sequel for this movie, I am excited most for Ten's live-action development. Because she represented women during that era and her future career does offer some exciting plot points.

On to my favorite character, Ouki!!! I like Ouki too much. I think they could have chosen an actor that has bigger lips (because that was Ouki's character point in the manga), but I couldn't ask for anyone better. Osawa Takao did a good job for Ouki! His voice was well near to my imagination of Ouki's voice. I can't help but feel giddy whenever he speaks! He lifted my feelings up (because I miss Ouki in the manga) and I remembered why I like Ouki from the start. Ooooh he did well!

Overall, I highly highly highly recommend this movie. Well, first reason being I read the manga and the storytelling there was so exciting. Second reason is that the direction of this movie was so good, taking in consideration the era they were trying to set-up, it was no easy feat. Costumes, setting, make-up, were all properly done! I applaud everyone who helped make this movie. It was one of a kind. Lastly, I highly recommend this movie because of Ouki. Osawa Takao made his own version of Ouki and I couldn't ask for anyone better. Oh, maybe just a little bit more lipstick? Lol just kidding. This movie was amazing.

It has been so long since I have watched a Japanese romance plus youth film. Oooooh the chills! Kilig!

I have read this manga before and I loved it! The storytelling seemed seamless and given the chance, I would read it again! When I heard there was a movie, I was so excited to watch it. So my conclusion to this movie is 6/10.

The movie focused too much on their romance. It was fast paced. Well, what do I expect? Too many chapters to put into a 1 hr 45 minute-movie. What made this movie special was the actors.

I loved Tsuchiya Tao and Suda Masaki. They are both great actors and their chemistry was cool. Tsuchiya was great at being cold and Suda was amazing at being crazy. I was caught in their storm. But, the ending kissing scene caught me laughing my ass off when Shizuku went flying!!!!!

Anyway, the music! You can never go wrong with Nishino Kana's songs when it's about romance. OST was nice.

I would, however, not rewatch this but I may reread the manga! Oooohh I really love the story <3 If only the movie also translated the storytelling as well, I would have a higher rewatch value for this movie.

I picked this drama up because I had nothing to do and I just... I guess, I wanted to support Araki Yuko. What kept me going are the multiple personalities that were personified, really. It was so much fun. Plus the theme song was sung really enthusiastically by Rei Yasuda. I had expectations when I started it.

The first conflict about Marunouchi Sakura was nothing more than a misunderstanding and then led to the underlying root of them being nothing more than MotoKare Manias themselves and at which they became friends, including Mugi. I liked the friendship they shared and the backstories that brought them together. I liked how honest they were at each other and it showed real emotions people go through as they want to move forward from exes.

However, there were downfalls from this focus, honestly. The story did not reveal an inch as to why Makoto and Yurika broke up in the first place. I kept looking for the reason throughout the story and I just assumed it was out of... a dry season?? ((Kkwontaeggi in Korean; IDK if I spelled it right)) Like, that's it??? There was nothing to it. And because there was nothing to it, they were bound to get back together again anyway, like it was fate for them to go back with each other. Nothing. Special. I didn't like that part... But maybe that's the real thing about the story. Stating the fact that couples could pass through their dry season into a more beautiful and lively season. And with that, if they break through that dry season, they last forever.

Anyway, I guess Yurika and Makoto's story didn't shake me up like Yamashita and Mugi's story. Theirs were, at least, more fun than Yurika and Makoto's, but I long got tired to it because of the reality of it all. Ugh. Careers over love is too real.

Now, skipping over to Sakura's love story, we get to see something refreshing. I didn't expect Shirai to be liking Sakura. That was, maybe, the twist I didn't know I needed throughout the story as the progression became boring and too real and I just inched my way on finishing the series. Well, I guess Sakura and Shirai's story probably saved the series for me.

Well, in the end, I guess, that this story was a fun series to watch like listening to a friend telling a story so animatedly with all the gestures and you go home just feeling that you ate a good meal with that friend. It's not just what I could watch in the long run (Thank goodness it just has 9 eps). I could not rewatch the whole thing, honestly :( I'm sorry to the likers of this series. Maybe slice of life romance with real conflicts are not just for me!

++
Anyway, thank you for reading my very first review! This has been a pleasure of mine. If there are grammatical errors (lol) then please say so. I appreciate corrections as english is not my native language.

Oh goodness, where do I start?

My first impression was that this drama was that this was the edgy type where the protagonist was so correct and everyone would be wrong and that kind of edgy drama type if you know what I mean. It took me a while to choose to watch this drama because of the title. A Kiss That Kills?? I mean, that's so corny and so cringey. It just might be some kind of love story that the protag's a player and there's some kind of person who will turn him around. Yeah that happened eventually in the plot but oh boiiii going to that part of the story was one heck of a joyride.

I enjoyed it the most when episode two came where Otaro ran after Saiko when he spotted her. The comedy here was really timed perfectly. Sure, it had a mood of seriousness and mystery in the storytelling, but the comedy made it better in many many ways. That part of the story made me go on with the drama. Well, wouldn't it be tiring to watch serious and mystery in the plot simultaneously? Thus, the comedy here made it seem like it was something you never thought you needed.

I rated 6/10 on the story, but hopefully, there was a rating for the direction of the drama, too. The story was simple, not much complex. It's just a greedy guy wanting to get all he wanted through a person he eventually fell in love with and also eventually healing in the process. The healing was kinda cool, too. I liked it a lot. However!!! One must notice that the direction of the drama is very commendable. Camera angles were unconventional and refreshing for me. The side pans while having a zoomed in face created so much excitement in the story. The direction was indeed a factor for me to like this series. I didn't even notice myself critiquing the scenes before and even predicting the scenes after because I enjoyed every present image while watching. Well, except the obvious things like how both the protagonists were connected to each other.

Next up is the cast. I like the cast very much. I think the actors did a very good job on their characters - most especially the very famous Yamazaki Kento. He did so well as Otaro. I like how jumpy he is when he's surprised or scared. It feels so real. It was the first time seeing Kadowaki Mugi, though. I'm impressed on how she acted as a socially awkward girl. It was so convincing. She's very good! To add, Mackenyu as Takauji was so annoying and that was the indicator of him doing a good job. Araki Yuko as Mikoto, too, was annoying; she was the typical heroine in an inheritance drama where she's so distressed about her own dramas in life. I got stressed with her, too. Well, finally, in the ending we get to see her taking over the company (FINALLY, GIRLIE) and not depending on a husband or whoever society dictates her to have just to lead the family company. Goodness. Cast is perfect. I couldn't ask for anyone better.

Music! Imma make this short: Perfect. Excellent. Soundtrack really got me going excited all throughout. Ending song was so cool. It actually was the one that drew me in to watch the drama. Suda's voice is surprisingly soothing. He's such a monster in his works, don't you think? A monster in a good way because he's got this energy you'd never even think of coming from. Anyway, the opening song, too, was a good one. That's like the one in Liar Game, if I'm not mistaken. It sounds the same, but not quite. Anyway, the OST in this drama will be forever iconic and is imprinted in my brain. Props to the composers! Very good.

Lastly, rewatch value is 6 because I got tired looking at Otaro struggling to get something that was very temporary in life which was money. However, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this series to anyone out there. Just ignore the kiss scenes. You'll get over it. In fact, you can just criticize how bad they look while kissing. There'll be a ton of kissing scenes; well, it's what the title suggests, too.

Overall, an 10. Very good. I love it. I would like to share it to anyone who wants to get rid of a drama slump or anyone who are so morally right and whatever. Lol. This drama will get them going in their moral dilemmas. I would like to go on about morality here, but this is where I end.

I will surely miss this drama and its characters. This will be forever imprinted in my heart.

It'sssss been a while since my last drama and this was the perfect drama to get off that slump. This drama reminded me that youth does not end on your typical graduation from high school or even college. It might as well extend to when you enter the working society.

At first, I watched this just for the main lead, Takahata Mitsuki. I liked her role in Evergreen Love. She acts so convincingly and naturally. In this series, she also did a spectacular job. Hands down to her! I love her work!

The cast was perfect and the progression of their wardrobe was PERFECT. The direction of the whole series was very good because the story, too, had an aspect of fluidity to it. Each episode was one year from the previous episode and the progression and character development of each character was seen just perfectly. I couldn't say anything but perfect!!! This scenario, this drama was too ideal! Here I am, wishing that if only you could reach out to people's hearts that easily if only you would know exactly what to say. Oh, here's to daydreaming!

The theme song and the OST of the series were perfect. I loved it. The lyrics had "sakura" in it, so it reminded me of the series immediately. I won't quite forget Doki no Sakura for a long time, now.

Overall, I would like to rewatch this if I had the chance and cry again and again. This series answers the moral questions and ethical cases that actually happens in real life. The ones shown are just small ones, but once these small cases pile up, it could lead to be a quite problematic society. Ironically, it is the society we live in now.

I particularly love this series because it helps broaden one's horizon - that every one of us in society has a role. I couldn't quite point out what I am supposed to say, but before I say anything wrong, I'm going to stop talking about society and morality, now. Well, this series could strike up as a fun discussion, actually. Oh, I'm going to really stop now. Lol.

Lastly! I want to share how they just give importance to the structure design and construction. This is one of the things Japan is proud of. Their structures are so well built that they last several lifetimes. I am going to appreciate more and more designs and construction from now on. I could go on talking about how I love this series, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you give this a try. I love it so much. Doki no Sakura has a special place in my heart.
