The genre doesn't matter. I enjoy stories that are diverse, character-driven, full of growth, and don't shy away from breaking the mold or depicting the fragility and complexity of the human mind and relationships. For that reason, I have switched from other Asian cinema to watching more Japanese cinema (because I find that they are unparalleled when it comes to the diversity, and fantastic script-writing). I hope more people will give Japanese cinema a chance before jumping to assumptions and conclusions based on a few bad or weird movies / dramas they watched. I mean which country doesn't have bad movies and dramas?  Of course I enjoy dramas / movies from all over the world as well.
