Excellent first episode exceeded my expectations

This episode is better than I expected and raises my expectations for this series. The production value is pretty good with some great river boat and market scenes of ancient Chiang Mai. I think I'm going to love this.

Too much cringe

I found myself pausing the episode every few minutes in order to let off some rants at the many cringe scenes. Thankfully there were some good moments as well but the writers should really decide if the character of Pat is able to stand up for himself, which he has demonstrated ample times, or if he is just a helpless deer about to be devoured by a predator.

Disappointingly simplistic plot line

Our two protagonists are blundering into situations that, given their circumstances, normal intelligent people would be more wary of. It makes for a frustrating episode to watch.

Nice characters but not much story development

I have been looking forward to this series because it brings together many interesting actors that I have liked in other series. It was an ok first episode mainly introducing the characters with a lot of spicy scenes thrown in. What was missing was more story development. I know from other series that these guys can deliver as actors and are not just pretty faces. I hope the screen writers and director can deliver more of a story in the remaining episodes!

Excessive bullying at the start gets refined towards the end

I was bothered by the excessive bullying shown right from the start, even pausing the play at one point thinking this was going to be bad. I resumed and was positively surprised by Chimon's character being able to hold his own in the face of the odds against him as well as a scene with Perth giving us a glimpse of a more vulnerable character hiding behind the bullying facade. This might yet turn out to be good.

Respect for Kao's acting

This episode continues to build the story and gives us some background to the hurt that is behind Jim's wall. It's nicely done. What stands out for me in this episode is a really well done scene where Kao's (Kaipa) acting abilities are on display. It's the first time that I see him deliver a subtle range of emotions and he does it beautifully.

Episode without a purpose

Not only does this episode not have any purpose in advancing the story. Scenes are strung together without any discernible continuity. Dialogue between characters are awkward to say the least and I found the repetitive background music to be annoying.

Choppy scenes and bad subtitles

I'm not able to finish even the first episode. Apart from the the english subtitles being hardly intelligible, the dialogue and attitudes between characters is toxic. I have seen one of the main actors, Frank, in different series in the past and know that his acting is better than what we see here; I can only attribute it to the director. As such I don't think there is any hope for this series.

Boring episode

The story is turning a bit boring. It's taken me so long to get through the episode in starts and stops that I don't even remember what (if anything) happened at the beginning.

There is a deviation from the UWMA narrative

I am disappointed that it deviates from the UWMA narrative where Dean and Pharm joined Win, Team and Manow for a dinner following the open house events. It was an important scene because during the meal, both Dean and Pharm lapsed into the same memory from their previous lives and simultaneously voiced "I promise" along with Korn and In. I believe it was the first time they both realized that the other was also being haunted by the same recollections.
