The show is still airing but at 7 episodes Mutsu keeps you entertained The premise is rather a well known one, a person with a special talent of sorts helps out the police. However despite the rather dull summary this drama delivers so much more. There are no funny/flat side characters here to keep you entertained, everyone is an actual person with their own feelings and motives. It is not episodic nor does the story start to drag after 7 episodes. The mystery slowly unfolds and each ep we are given new clues and new insights. Overall it feels very real and human, a far cry from what Japan can sometimes produce in their medical or detective dramas. Don't get me wrong, I can easily love those but this one delivers something completely different. It is not a medical drama in the sense that it shows you operations and follows patients like in Iryu or Jin, nor is it a complete detective drama where there's a constant focus on only one case. It somehow manages to blend the best of both of these genres and produce a very engaging and human drama with enough suspense to keep you watching.
Recommended for those who love: an overarching plotline, slow mystery, subtle humor, 'human' dramas
Not recommended: if you're looking for something episodic, something light, focus on medical drama or procedural police drama
