Ever Night 1 was one of the best we have watched. The music can drive you mad but the casting was superb and the acting great. Roll on Ever Night 2
A new cast including Dylan Wang as Ning Que. He is probably the worst person they could have chosen to play the part. My wife immediately said how effeminate he was and could not act out the fight scenes. He has no rhythm and his moves have no style whatsoever. Not a patch on Chen Fei Yu who was a great actor and really put his soul into the part. He is a very poor casting and all we can think is that he has relatives in high places who got him the part.
There were other poor casting choices but I guess that's the price you pay for filming so many wuxia series at the same time. The great actors and actresses are in demand and Ever Night 2 got the C team. The one saving grace was Ireine Song, a very talented young lady and a great actress.
As a footnote, we now realise that due to Dylan Wang's lack of acting ability, the director and producer had to adapt the filming to try and cover up. This led to a very slow and boring series with a lead actor who can only scream and shout running around like a demented stick insect.

What has happened to the ending
My wife and I watched the 20 episodes of this excellent series expecting to see more episodes appear. Come the end of episode 20....nothing. It was just left in the air. What is the point of writing and filming an excellent story series and just leaving it as an open end. Is this what passes for artistic content today? A story has a beginning a middle and an end. This had a beginning, a middle but no end.
I am not going to comment on the fine acting and casting as I am sure there will be a continuation in the very near future. If not, the producer and director should look for other work as this simply puts people off watching.

Brilliant series ruined by last episode
Before starting the review, I must congratulate Nan Sheng in her role as Jiao Tong. Her facial control and acting ability outshone nearly all of the other actors. This was such an unusual role that there would be few actresses who could pull this off. Nang Sheng was nothing short of brilliant. The story line is very good and we decided to watch this over the Christmas period. The first 20 or so episodes were addictive but after that, there were too many recaps and slowing down of the action. Michelle Bai as Gao Yan deserves special mention. It is funny how the evil characters were the best actresses.
As the last few episodes were to be watched, we commented that there was a lot to happen in such a short period. This is where we were let down. The end was rushed and what should have taken at least 10 episodes was condensed into two. Did the budget run out?
Directors Steve Cheng and He Zhen Hua or was it the screen writer Ella Chan who has little experience of these types of genre, let us down badly. They managed to ruin an exceptionally good series. It was as if they simply gave up and wanted to save money by cutting it short and filling up the time with recaps of previous scenes.
What should have been 5 stars all round is reduced to 2.5.

This is for children under 11
Having finished watching Invetiture of the Gods (1) , we then started to watch (2). Do not forget, this is 80 episodes and takes a lot of watching. I must have been mad.WHat on earth was this, it was a series for children. The acting was so bad as to make me cringe. It was mainly CGI with very little acting. This is not a series for anyone interested in Wuxia, only for children.
We had to re watch the first series to try and figure out who was who but gave up. I really do not know how anyone can call this a follow up to the first series? Wasted valuable time watching it.

Wooden actors with no chemistry
After Dylan Wang ruined Evernight 2 with his bad acting, jumping around and waving a sword without any real martial art, runing an excellent performance by a great actress (Ireine Song) we vowed never to watch him again. However, having run out of series to watch, we gave Unchained Love a chance. After 8 episodes we have given up. There is no chemistry between Dylan Wang and Chen Yu Qi and apart from Zeng Li, the remaining cast can only be considered class C actors and actresses.
How anyone can rate Dylan Wang as a good actor is beyond me. He has no character and does not connect with his lead actress.
Save some time and give this series a miss.

Yet another low mark for Dylan Wang
My last review of a Dylan Wang series upset DW fans but as someone else here pointed out, they generally have a low bar so he gets high marks. This time I managed more than 8 episodes before giving up, I managed 9. The man simply cannot act. His fan club love his Girly Boy looks but seem blind to his lack of acting ability. It is obvious very early on that this will be a dragged out CGI series. The plot is thin and there are side plots that have no reference to the main story line.
This is just a series for the sake of giving Dylan Wang something to do. Yu Shu Xin was excellent in her role as Orchid and she managed to act the part despite the problem of a male lead who could not. Xu Hai Qiao would have made a much better Dongfang but still gave an excellent performance as Rong Hao.
Yet another Dylan Wang series to be avoided as you will never get back the time you wasted watching it.
