Hey there fellow drama addicts!
About me and how I travelled to the Dramaworld
I`m a 17-year-old girl. I live in Latvia (a small country in Europe that almost no one knows where it is). I`m still in high school and I love biology and chemistry, but I hate physics (yup I am a bit nerdy, hehe). My drama-love started thanks to my best friend. She loves Asian (ok, only Japanese, but I`m working on it) stuff, including anime. She always tried her best to make me watch anime, but since her favourite genre is horror, which creeps me out, all her plans failed before they even started. Even more, I wasn`t fond of the idea that I would have to read subs all the time. But she didn`t give up hope and one day told me about this drama, where a nun-in-training joins a super-famous boy-band instead of her twin brother and starts living together with her fellow band members (shame on those, who can`t recognize the drama :D). It didn`t look like a horror drama, so I decided to give it a shot. And, oh boy, I`m happy I did. Because then I started looking for other drama and found MDL. At first I watched only Japanese drama (probably my friend`s influence), but then I thought that Koreans are world-famous for dramas, not Japanese. I had to check that for myself. As you can probably guess, I decided to play safe and watched You`re Beautiful. Needless to say, that the original was way better IMO.
About drama
Now I often watch both Korean and Japanese drama and sometimes movies too. I have seen a few Taiwanese dramas, but I`m still trying to get used to the language. Oh, and I like anime too. But not horror. Definitely not horror. The scariest anime I`ve ever seen was Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge, so yup, not a horror genre fan. My favourite genre is comedy (for anime and drama). Then goes romance. Sometimes fantasy, but only in anime. In the beginning I watched romantic dramas, now I have switched to school dramas. Love gender-bender, because those dramas just can`t be without jokes and ridiculos situations. No tear-jerkers allowed on my list! Only happy endings - we-all-live-in-a-paradise, everybody-gets-what-they-want, bad-guys-become-good and so on.  That`s probably the reason why I have so many dramas on-hold. The comedy part has ended and the dramatic part has come and I just can`t bring myself to finish them. Yet. Oh, and I almost always have the 2nd lead syndrome. Lately I have started reading manga. I choose only mangas I`ve seen as anime or drama for now. Playing safe again:)
Why I joined MDL (read: anonymous dramaholics)
I found out about MDL almost at the same time I started my drama obsession. But then I decided that I need to organize my drama, especially PTW list, because it became quite long. That`s where MDL comes in. I signed up and used only the list itself and drama descriptions. Now I can`t watch a drama if I don`t know where I`ve seen that actor/actress before. Love forums too:) I realised I`m not the only one here.
Music
The very first song in Korean that found its way to my playlist was M2 Junior - Stand Up from K-POP: The Ultimate Auditon. Still one of my favourite dramas (*mad at the entire world because of the ending*). And one of favourite songs too. (Yayy! My computer understands me completely! It`s playing this song while I`m writing this! Yayy!) I could listen to this song all day long, even though I din`t understand most of the lyrics. Now that I think of it, this isn`t the first Asian song I`ve been listening to. ROOKiEz is PUNK`D - In My Life came way before I even started watching dramas. Since it`s the opening for one of my BFF`s fav animes Ao no Exorcist, she downloaded it for me. I had no choice but to agree to it (but now it`s one of my favourite Japanese songs too, so I`m not mad at her. Anymore :D) I`m not sure if that counts, though. Now I listen to a lot of Korean and Japanese songs. Mostly OSTs, but not only. My mum can even recognize some Asian songs, although she swore to never listen to my playlist. (*laughs evily*) In general I`m a leave-K-to-the-pop-and-J-to-the-rock person.
Part of my biography I`m not proud of is music school. I can play the piano (read: miserably search for the right notes and hope for a miracle in form of music to come out of my piano). I tried to play some of my favourite Asian songs and you know what? Miracles do happen! I realised I like playing the piano. And of course, now I`m much better at it. That alone is enough gain from drama for me.
Wow, this is a long introduction. Sorry, it wasn`t on purpose. Actually, I had to write it twice, because my computer (*grrr...*) deleted everything I wrote when I had almost finished it. (*grrr...*)
