My Rating System
9.5: Masterpieces
This is as close to perfection as it gets. The storytelling, animation, character development, and emotional impact all hit flawlessly. It’s rare for something to earn this score, but when it does, it leaves me awestruck.
8.5 – 9.0: Excellent
I was strongly impressed. The story and characters hit hard, and while there may have been minor flaws, they didn’t detract much from my overall experience.
7.5 – 8.0: Very Good
I really enjoyed this. It was well-executed, but there were noticeable issues—maybe pacing, a lack of depth, or a few questionable choices—but nothing that ruined it for me.
6.5 – 7.0: Above Average
I liked it for the most part. It’s enjoyable, but nothing about it truly stood out. There were critical aspects that left me wanting more or felt underwhelming.
5.5 – 6.0: Average
It was fine, but forgettable. It might’ve been decent for passing the time, but it lacked originality or polish and didn’t leave a lasting impression.
4.5 – 5.0: Below Average
This one had noticeable problems, whether it was pacing, story coherence, or animation quality. It wasn’t outright bad, but I struggled to stay invested.
3.5 – 4.0: Mediocre
I could see some potential in it, but it fell short due to weak execution. Frustrating more than anything else, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
2.5 – 3.0: Poor
Barely anything worked for me here. It had very few redeeming qualities and felt more like a chore to watch or read than an enjoyable experience.
1.5 – 2.0: Terrible
This was awful. It lacked effort, coherence, or any redeeming qualities. I struggled to get through it and felt like I wasted my time.
1.0: Unbearable
I couldn’t stand this. It’s an absolute disaster on every level and something I’d actively tell others to avoid.
My Golden Rule:
- I never give a perfect 10. Perfection doesn’t exist for me, but a 9.5 is as close as it gets. If something earns that, it’s a masterpiece in my eyes.
