Underrated drama from the early 2010s - Fun, Fast-paced and FUNNY!
I am watching this drama in 2021, and the re-watch value / drama hasn't aged very poorly 10 years later.
The MML is Choi Seok Bong, believes he is the son of a billionaire. His mother had a one-night stand with his billionaire father, but through your typical k-drama series of unfortunate (and silly events), cannot reunite with the man again.
If you want something light-hearted, but fast-paced to watch, with some romance, I highly recommend this drama. It does drag on the main plot device, which is, finding the ML's billionaire father and some of the 'tasks' the MML does in the beginning is kind of outrageous! But I had a lot of laughs, and there were some very clever moments that make for an enjoyable watch.
Disclaimer:
I Can Hear Your Voice is my favourite, so I am Lee Bo Young biased. She plays feisty, strong-willed female characters, so if that's your jam, you would enjoy this drama.
Queen In Hyun's Man was my first drama I watched, and Ji Hyun Woo has a special place in my heart. He is a really versatile actor, and naturally handsome, but not too handsome that it distracts you from watching the show. You really root for his character here, although there are some really dumb cliches/character traits the writers include in this drama that make you roll your eyes.
Pros:
Great cast, and the side characters have personalities and side stories that add to the humour of the drama
Cinematography - still looks good 10 years later for a 2010 drama!
Solid pacing - I have been glued on each episode trying to figure out who his dad is!
Funny + Touching - had so many laughs in this drama, and shed tears as well.
Cons:
Under utilization of SL - Namgong Min's character isn't as developed as Park Si Young's and it's a shame he wasn't utilized more than a semi-evil character
Soundtrack - the music / OST is not that memorable, except for the pop rock, nostalgic throwback. Compared to other dramas made at that year like Secret Garden, I think it is lacking
Middle:
Romance - There aren't a lot of romance scenes in this drama as the plot focuses more on finding Bong's father. The romance is a slow burn, but there is still chemistry between Ji Hyun Woo and Lee Bo Young's character. I am used to seeing LBY in a Noona romance, so it's good they didn't emphasize that or didn't make that the premise. If you like tingly romance scenes, there isn't enough of that in the drama. However, the scenes between the mains are tender and sweet :)
