IT WAS GOOD UNTIL IT WASN’T
I only watched up until Ep 18 although I wanted to stop sooner, but I figured it just might get better. The beginning was so good, the conflict and plot was good too. But what drives me mad about Chinese Drama (I still watch a lot btw) is how relationships are written immaturely. How even after the heartbreak and heartache, they act like kids afterwards, playing the push and pull game without confronting the issues that caused the breakup.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, she had to be the one to initiate the conversation and go after him even when he was in the wrong 3 years ago. She took the initiative before when he was blind and shut himself out from the world. Even after his surgery, he never took the initiative or even attempted to apologize to Wu Yan for being arrogant and insecure to which caused her not to say her final goodbyes to her father. But, yet again, she initiated the conversation as she reached out to him. She had to be the one to consider his feelings and circumstances 3 years ago, to justify his lack of consideration in the present.
This is what I hate about the screenwriter of these Chinese dramas. The representation of women is so poor and idiotic. Always making them inferior to men in every aspect of life. It’s so disgusting! It’s not enough to insult the intelligence of the FL, strip her of her pride to go running to him again, disregard the feelings of the FL while feeding the ego of the ML. She’s always been the one who loved more. Even until the end, she loved him more than he did her.
It was a good drama until it wasn’t.

Speechless
I’m more of a k-drama fan, but I wanted to try out Chinese drama for a change. I absolutely hated how her character was written as well as his. The ML was this dominant self-absorbed maniac who needed to stroke his ego by manipulating and using money threatening her to spend time with him. He couldn’t muster up the courage to admit that he liked her, but rather manipulated her into thinking she was the pursuer instead of him. I didn’t want to look up who the writer for this drama was, but I would feel so disappointed if it was a woman who wrote the FL the way she did. She couldn’t think for herself, and was easily taken advantage of and manipulated into doing things. As if it wasn’t enough to write her character as unintelligent, they wrote her as this naive and clueless woman who moved only at the command of a dominant man. I couldn’t finish the drama because it inferiorated me and was so upsetting. So I stopped at Ep 25 about 6 years ago, and came back to finish it because I like to finish what I started no matter what or how long. Still didn’t like it, but this was my first introduction to Chinese drama, and I didn’t like it.Esta resenha foi útil para você?
Light and Fluffy with an annoying FL
I enjoyed this drama because it was light and fluffy. Nothing too heavy or too serious which is perfect for a weekend in quarantine. But I wanted to strangle the FL so many times. She was the most annoying character in the drama and it’s entirety. She always thought she knew better and never trusted her husband when told to just let him handle things and not to worry and always end up causing troubles. The ML had his annoying moments too. He always kept things from her and wasn’t always honest in the name of protecting her 🙄
I enjoyed the fluff and the story. Would I rewatch it? For the sake of my sanity, patience and to save myself from losing my eyeballs from falling out from being rolled from beginning to end…..HELL NO!
