A GEM

Honestly, I didnt have much hopes or expectations for this series. Tbh, I almost forgot this series is in 2022 rooster lol. This dropped very randomly at the end of 2022. I just watched because it is on Friday and it is very good, As episodes went by, I was hooked and currently now suffering post -msp depression haha. So here is my thoughts on the aspects of this series.....

The story line
There is barely anything u can cook out of a high school romantic comedy. But this is proof that u can do the best out of a high school series. The rivals to lovers, check. The enemies to lovers check. There are enough side stories to keep the audience entertained. And another additional points for this series is that towards the end of the series, it transitions from the silly romcom to the reality of the lives of these teenagers. "Not winning the award show, the guilt and breaking down from the result and the fight stemming from it and how they reconcil" they are done great. And also that the newer generations are more open-minded and that parents should be the safe place for their children if the world is not kind to their children. Those positive messages are given with a slight check to the reality. The way they convey the message has weight. It is not done as a mandatory part like most of the BLs. They addressed the heavy issues but they didn't dwell on it. They know that they are still a cute romcom. That part is where I have come to appreciate this series. This is not some alternate universe where all gay people are the norm but actually reflect this more accepting society with some backward minded people.

The acting
The acting class pays off guys!! Please take them lol jk jk but im serious haha
The chemistry won't be chemistrying if u don't know how to act so pleaseeee take the damn class @ the rest of bl actors lol.
It is highkey amusing that these guys are just rookies with only one work before but they are both doing so well in both series ( please check out moonlight chicken guys. It is reallly good!)
There are not a lot of part where the leads have to be really emotional but Fourth (gun) acted well. He is acting really well and I can feel his emotions from the screen. My fave parts are where gun is looking for tinn at the hospital and the relief on his face knowing that tinn didn't leave him, another one is gun fighting with win and the other one is where he run out of the president room holding his tears. He also masters in being extra duper cute and fluffy haaha. This is what happens when u cast high schoolers for high school characters loll. no shade no shade.

The chemistry
Not just from the two leads but also side couples and their friendship. I think the workshops paid off. And the fact that these kids are closer in age really helps.
The romantic chemistry of the two leads really flow. Gemini really nailed the totally whipped guy character so well haha. Very cute and talented guys!


Overall, this series managed to avoid all of my bl icks and bad ending. Not pristine perfect but I can't point out the flaws because I was busy kicking my blanket and screaming into my pillow for how cute and wholesome it is haha. Def once in while gem!

Do not live up to my expectation

This is one of the dramas I anticipated since the casting announcement and the team announcement. I was like wow is this the second "moon embracing the sun" because that drama also has elements of supernatural aspects. The start is good. It shows the plot and it kind of shadows that their love story will be a heart wrenching one, very typical of historical dramas. (Its been a while I get a drama with sad endings so i was pumped) But 16 episodes later, it was a happy RUSHED ending with *SPOILER ALERT* samshin being the dead one. While the leads chemistry buildup is lacking, the plot isnt going smoothly either. The whole plot of the story is revealed to the audience at ep 1 while the leads in the drama are discovering the past one by one. The major thing that wasnt revealed to the audience is that haram being the one who killed his father, not the soldier. AND THATS ALL.
The leads have no story to make me anticipate their love, even yangmyeong and cheongi had better conversations than the leads did. controversial take, cheongi isnt a very likable character, i like yoojung thats why i am able to finish this one. And haram pretty didnt much have the personality. Only yangmyeong is pretty well written at least for me.
The cinematography is so good. And everything ur eyes land on is so pretty. I give a solid ten in this aspect. And the four leads have very good saeguk tones. They talk so eloquently.
Overall, it is a nice production but with the current team , i feel like they could have done better. 7.5/10

This is one of the best bromance/ bl drama of 2023

I think it is pretty tame compared to regular thai queer shows but I feel like this is the closest to being a queer in real life, in places where they are conservative yet understanding enough. I love a good part of the show shows the family being so abnormal and warm. For me, personally, I love shows that doesnt revolve only around the two leads but their environment where they interact with. It shows the characters as persons outside the romance aspect. It has high rewatch value and the computers and phones give me nostalgia. This series will def be the one where i go back from time to time to destress and wrap myself in childhood nostalgia

A light hearted series you would want to watch if you don't want plot heavy things

As par normal of japanese BLs, this show delivered what it has to deliver. The struggle of a man who doesn't want a man love interest. We, the audience, knows that he would fall for a man at some point and the thrill of finding out who will be the love interest of the ML with a mix of humor is definitely a good show to sit if u want to watch something mindlessly but still be invested in. The only downpoint is I feel like the ending comes too soon and I don't get to see the love developing between the two. AND WE NEED THE SECOND COUPLE's LOVE STORY.

Overall, a good show. 7.5/10 not because of the show is not good enough but because there is not enough material

an overall good show

I decided to write a review after forcing to watch myself for a second time. I kind of run through all the epsidoes becuz i wanted to know if they managed to keep the quality till the end and they do. So i will rewatch the entire thing to appreciate more but i can write a preview with my current knowledge.

The cinematography
It is good actually. The shots are actually well done and i can see they put a lot of effort in this one.

Acting
gun acting is really good and i can see he can pull off into mood for the drama. I prefer more experience actors pls @/gmmtv

The plot
The very first gmmtv show that makes me want to read the original novel. I have tried a couple gmmtv shows and a lot of them felt like superficial shows with comedic purposes and characters not acting according to their age. I am not saying the characters here are perfect but they do make it work and they act like university students and i appreciate the film reference part, can say that the author referenced the movies for the couples in this. AND I LOVE IT.
cons
The very classical "got hurt and the other one takes care" genre is kind of old but i guess i can let it slide since there are worse genres in bl cinema aka "fangirls running around the gay couple".

The ost
Is nice but i need to rewatch it to fully appreciate it

A complete story with amazing casts

First of all, I think what it meant to be a lakorn lol
I have watched miracle of teddy bear which is a full fledge 16 episode series with more than 1 hr screentime so i thought i knew what i should be expecting but this is another level.. As I said, as expected of a lakorn lol
Second of all, I am glad the actors are talented and film is able to help jam to emote. I was scared that he is on the inexperienced side but he managed to act out how jiu was supposed to be feeling at the parts. The supporting casts are doing their parts justice and was serving ACTING!!
Third of all, this series really go in depth about how gay people are stigmatized but also managed to portray the relationship of tian with his people, his parents, his step mothers, his brother and his lover and also his role in the house. I think this show has a fuller picture than regular bl shows give( they have 40 mins and 12 episodes so I can understand but I prefer a more complete story)
Fourth of all, and most important thing for me is that they didn't make the leads die or live in misery but have a happy ending and also acceptance. I was afraid that they might make tian leave the house to choose his lover but they welcomed back into the family. This show was aired in prime time so I hope a wider audience who watch the series can get the message.
P.s. the camera effect and sound still has room to improve so i give it 9.5 out of 10!
