If TRASH is personified, I know it's this one.
Honestly, i could write a list of headlines to describe this work but it's not even worth the energy.DO NOT WATCH.
(Or do but be prepared for the disappointment)
Can you guess where it belongs? A GARBAGE BIN because it's a pile of ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.
I didnt read the webtoon but maybe it's better written there even with the same narrative? i dont know...
This 2nd season has no relation whatsoever to the first. If this was supposed to show me how the classmates have become a true one unit highly dependant on each other, cooperative, considerate, then it's done so really badly. The pace is unbelievably slow with noooo real progress in the depth of their connections. Suddenly people are a couple and there's a love triangle like what? What situations led up to this in the first place? We definitely do not get to see that. The villian at the end? No true long time build up; it just escalated like that out of the blue because the writers forgot there's got to be evil to get a closure.
The post-credits scene was unnecessary and should have been in the first season. The addition would have been great as a comedy relief and as a nostalgic tribute. After the ending of season 2, it's almost pointless to see.
I like to believe, as many others I'm sure, that the true ending of the series is either episode 6 of season 1, or the pre-credits scene.
I gave points solely to honour the idea that on our Earth there's something much more worse than human-eating aliens, and for highlighting the pressures of being a high schooler in Korea (albeit extremely dramatic really). But story wise, direction wise, acting, everything was terribly executed. There's even an episode or two that are entirely useless..
P.S. If you really want to watch it, do so at 1.5x and save yourself some time instead to use on a better written work.

Beware!! (in the nicest way possible XD)
The series started out really strong in the first 2 episodes and then somehow lost trajectory and progress in the middle ones so it was really boring and lame to watch. I watched it as it aired so at some point i forgot what the actual story/mystery was about. Other times i struggled to finish an entire episode in one sitting.Thank goodness the final episodes redeemed it. It could have easily been a 14-16 episode drama with a shorter duration of episodes.. So if you're planning to binge watch it, don't be annoyed that you may lose the enthusiasm you had when you first started.
Park Hyungsik's acting is the only reason i continued watching tbh and is the only thing I'd ask future watchers to look out for. The female character's acting is superficial and fails to evoke emotions. The princess, the young prince, and the 2nd male lead only get scenes when it's necessary and i would have liked to see them bond more with the female character and the crown prince.

Worthy but not necessary
I haven't read the webtoon so this is based only on the series. This was an interesting take on the apocalytpic genre woven into the dynamics of being a high schooler. The idea is quite creative and while the storyline could have been much more intricate and the season longer, it's still a good watch if you want something quick and adrenaline rushing. I would have definitely liked more episodes focusing on the backgrounds of the characters in depth, and the bonds between them and their superiors. For a long time, I couldn't memorise their names either because there was not enough spotlight on a few characters at one time...
There were some annoying and frustrating characters such as the cowardly girls who wanted to leave everything and run away. The constant whining, scream-crying almost made me drop the episode or skip the scene, especially when the dialogue repeats itself at least twice in a single episode. I almost felt like slapping them so i'm surprised at how and why the opposite characters were soooo good at holding back and not lashing out at them in times of emergencies (it would have been understandable if there were more clashes)
P.S. it's better to assume that this is a solo work with an open ending instead of watching season 2. You're better off without it :-)

An 'okay' package
It's like the Hunger Games world on x2 speed. There isn't anything special about the storyline or the plot, and no dramatic plot twists either. No complex emotions to process or dialogues to confuse you.
Yet it's such a quick 'overall complete' watch that I enjoyed it. I didnt end up wasting alot of time, and i didnt have over the top expectations for it so i wasnt disappointed. The script is detailed just enough to inform you of the storyline as a whole which left out so many questions us dystopian world lovers look out for their answers.. But the VFX and production was so good I found myself concentrating on the scenes and background rather than what's missing from the world-building.
The ending was satisfactory too, loose enough to leave a small potential for a season 2 but a bow on a gift box for season 1.
I do wish the episodes were a little long to showcase the bonding between the 'important' cast characters outside the scope of the main plot. Song Seung Hoon's role was a little disappointing. His scenes werent long enough and so were his lines, everything felt very superficial and fake. Actually, it's poor character writing. The soundtrack was quite lacking so it wasn't easy to immerse myself into.
Overall, the drama was too plot focused. Good and short for easily distracted viewers, might be unsatisfactory for perfection-seeking viewers.
