I just want to give our demon fetus a hug

I'm watching on YOUKU. I was waiting for Netflix France but still no release date and since I follow many social media c-dramas and k-dramas, I started encountering spoilers. Now, I'm just waiting for the final 2 episodes on Tuesday.
I'm a fan of Xantia and Wuxia genres in general and was patiently waiting for a new blockbuster. TTEOTM does not disappoint. However, the trauma in this story is heart wenching. I find myself wanting to become the Demon God just to avenge the ML. That's how frustrating this series is on the mind. Luckily, there are bits of love crumbs sprinkled throughout to heal but then bam! -the wounds are reopened. The character development is well written even for minor characters. The costumes including the hairstyles for the different timelines and different clans are spectacular and are a step up from typical Xantia with more colors, textures, and even braids. I love the chemistry between the couples.
I'm hoping and holding out for a pure happy ending for both our leads since I think they both deserve it after ALL OF THIS TRAUMA and it seems the main message is that only you can truly say who you are inside despite the hand you're delt (fate). Although, there is still plenty of room in the last 2 episodes for a typical bittersweet or even 100% tragic ending.
I could not give it 10 stars because some of the editing is wonky starting from episode 30ish. There are times where the actors are either teleporting between scenes or some characters and their stories have just been dropped between timelines. (Yes, I know about the 40 ep law but I feel some of the repetitive lines or redundant thoughts could have been removed to keep or clôture other character arcs.)
*PS: I've really appreciate the extra production videos on YOUKU. Everyone seems to really enjoyed making this series and the direction seem very kind and even open to suggestions. I watch these when waiting for new episodes.

Epic traumatic masterpiece

Take with a grain of salt, as I'm criticizing a production online whereas in real life I would bow before them ?)
The last 4 episodes are very sad. I feel like there was a lot more redemption and compassion for the baddies than the good guys. I waited for the goddess to do more, after all it seemed like her life was more important to keep the balance. The extra half episode at the end is nice but I kept longing to see the great demon pushing our goddess on the swing again.
Don't get me wrong, the drama is a great one and definitely worth the watch. Neo has grown so much. If the roll requires expeessive eyes, he was the best choice. He had that skill pinned down since Back From the Brink and perfected it here. His one word spells are the sexiest scenes I've witnessed in Cdrama. Pei has the win for best choreography during the fight sceens. The jokes and teasing were refreshing.
The OST will live rent free in your head all day. It's very catchy and moving along with the little dance. Sometimes the dramatic music was queued too early. It was a slight spoiler to who would win or lose.
There was some continuity problems. I think a lot was cut during production. I would sometimes start some episodes and have to stop it and see if I skipped an episode by accident, which I never did. The costumes are divine except for the evil mastermind's robes at the end.
Overall it gets a 9. Parts of me want to rewatch it because there are things I missed or need clarification. But the ending is traumatic and the feeling of loss is greater than the win. I have important things to do in the real world that require motivation and a positive attitude but I'm left with a lingering heartache.

Watch this one if you want to feel empowered!!!

A thrilling beginning with a grand finale. I watch many C-dramas, and this one gets my vote for best in 2024. It’s a very cinematic piece about love and choices encompassed by a beautiful soundtrack. There is just the right amount of heartbreak to arouse the emotions and shed a few tears without killing the entire story. It left me feeling empowered to advance in my goals and meet challenges head on.

My only real negative point is that it gets a little slow in the middle but if those episodes didn’t exist, then the plot would be riddled with holes. I do feel it could have been condensed or rearranged because like most typical Chinese dramas the spectator is confronted with separate problem arcs that our leads must conquer to advance. Many are interesting but a couple had me saying “what now” or “gah, not this again”. With that being said it’s 100% worth pushing through without skipping because the payoff is worth it.

I hate this cliché I’m about to say, but I must admit, the chemistry was epic between our leads. The supporting roles were also so well developed they could also be considered leads. The majority of the characters left me with a feeling as if they were actual people/families I know and can still visit in real life.

The series is tagged “revenge” plot but “justice” would be more suitable for those who have watched and payed attention to the message. Netflix doesn’t have the extra 5 min episode 40.5 so I had to find it elsewhere online. But the story is still complete without the extra bit and it doesn’t have an open ending.

Lighthearted drama with a modern twist

Lighthearted drama with a modern twist.
I really enjoyed this one despite some flaws.

First of all I appreciate the ending which makes it rewatchable. Second of all because of the amount of screentime our lotus demon was pure eye candy. Esther's performance was good but typical. She played the same role as in LBFAD which I liked but again the baby cry character gets annoying and didn't match her modern life personality which should have been more prevalent especially after her reveal. The arc flipping rollercoaster given to the master we meet at the end was horribly done.

There were also some pacing issues and major plot holes. Sometimes I even thought I must have skipped an episode but I didn't. The attention to the details for the minor support roles was refreshing. The special effects were extremely well done and gorgeous. The shop explosion was my favorite. However the fei CGI was so bad it was almost comical. The dust mushroom demons were cute. 🥰

Am I still dreaming about this magical realm? Yes.
Which is why I give it such a high rating despite the criticism.
