Top 10 Korean drama's

1. Vinte e Cinco, Vinte e Um
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
Twenty-Five Twenty-One is a once in a decade type of show.
It was extraordinary how perfectly every storyline flowed and was weaved into the show. I think I hit a record of becoming teary eyed with this show. There were very many scenes that just gripped me in the heart strongly and wouldn't let me go for the entire episode. I'm pretty sure I've genuinely spent over half of the show being emotional. It was beautiful, gorgeous. Not only that but there were so many highlight scenes. Like, ACTUAL highlight scenes without exaggeration. Scenes that stay with you for a long time, the ones that you always remember when you think back on a show. Most drama's don't even have a single one. They're good, maybe even great, but doesn't enter that ''truly exceptional'' type of quality. Twenty-Five Twenty-One however is truly the cream of the crop when it comes to kdrama's. Confusing ending? Hell no. The way their relationship evolved in the later parts of the show should've made us realize what the actual takeaway from the show would be. Yes, I too held out hope till the very last second that them not being together was a prank that they would reverse in the last two minutes. But you know what? I've seen countless kdrama's with the main couple being together. I love it when that happens and yet I am not sad that it didn't happen here. Knowing how much they meant to eachother but that sometimes life just doesn't turn out the way you want it to. Yet still, that doesn't mean those times suddenly become worthless or sad. Twenty-Five Twenty-One wants us to cherish the memories of the past, the people that got us to where we are today while living our present to the fullest. I think it's a beautifully conveyed message.
All in all this show is the best piece of storytelling I've seen before in a drama and I look fondly back on the hours I spent being completely immersed as I obsess myself over behind the scenes and the soundtrack. -
2. Apaixonados na Cidade
Korean Drama - 2020, 17 episodes
I decided to watch this drama entirely on a whim. The little Netflix teasers you get from shows is what intrigued me to watch it but I almost passed on it due to the MDL rating this show has. Wow, I will absolutely never trust MDL ratings anymore because this is beyond what you would call a diamond in the rough.
I was sold from the very first episode. What an incredibly refreshing show this was. The interview style of storytelling that happens occasionally took no time to get used to and I felt it was very refreshing . Not only that but starting the show on a vacation and meeting your love there with such a sweet and comfortable beach setting? it's phenomenal. It's unlike anything I've seen before in a drama.
This was a Kim Ji Won acting masterclass. It was a chemistry with Ji Chang Wook on par with the best. I've been going through a very rough time mentally for many years now to the point where I'd forgotten what happiness felt like but Lovestruck in the city made me feel genuine happiness while watching it. Especially those first 5 episodes....
I have to shout out the first 5 episodes of this drama. It was everything I've ever wanted in a romantic story. It was passionate, full of love, incredibly sweet, happiness inducing and they didn't go the conservative route. The kisses, the hugs, the lying in his arms it was so refreshing that they didn't stray away from showing this many times in it's full glory. Nothing could rob me of the happiness and joy I felt watching these episodes. I cried a few times simply because it was too beautiful, it truly was. While suffering in dark times Lovestruck in the city reminded me what happiness really feels like. It's truly a blessing.
This show is the perfect example of why I love drama's but especially why I love romance stories. Lovestruck in the city is the cream of the crop to me. It's a masterpiece.

3. Meu Ahjussi
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
This show is magical. I have no words to describe what I felt watching our characters day after day. I remember not being able to grade the show even 14 episodes in. I believe it's because this show in it's entirety, from start to finish is one journey that you can't judge unless you've seen everything. It's slow paced but never boring, the main characters say very little and yet are so intriguing and interesting, with through the roof chemistry. The final scene in episode 16 was the result of the entire show coming together and showing us what the journey of Ji An and Dong Woon led to and my god did I feel privileged to witness that. I'm sincerely going to miss this show and i'm fairly certain it shall remain among my favourites forever.

4. Encontro
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Encounter, the show that stole my heart in a similar manner as with Lovestruck in the city and My Mister.
What made that possible? The two leads, naturally. What else could make that happen.
Their love story was phenomenal. The dialogue was interesting and their interactions were heartmeltingly beautiful and playfully cute. I really learned a lot about both leads during the show. The female lead's story was especially depressing and her change throughout the show was amazing to witness.
Encounter was amazing. Each scene left me wanting more despite most of the show already being pure romance with very VERY little drama. I could watch hundreds of episodes of the leads going throuhg their lives. -
5. Eu Não Sou um Robô
Korean Drama - 2017, 32 episodes
Super funny, cute and well written. Through the roof chemistry here and absolutely my favourite rom-com hands down. This show is a one of a kind.

6. Flower of Evil
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
This is the drama that's made me the most emotional I've ever been watching a drama. I do not cry easily but tears flew down many times. This is also by far Lee Joon Gi's best acting performance and cemented him as who I consider to be the single most skilled actor in all of k-drama.
Moon Chae Won and Lee Joon Gi created a masterpiece together.
Unbelievable show from start to finish. Did not dwindle in quality, did not lessen in intensity and most certainly did not stop surprising us.

7. Mãe
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Beautiful show where the relationship between mother and daughter is so preciously depicted I think it captured everyone's hearts. Stellar performance from Lee Bo Young and most importantly the child actress! What a rollercoaster of emotions I won't forget.

8. Silent
Japanese Drama - 2022, 11 episodes
Silent is the first romance drama I've ever seen that doesn't have a single kiss happen during the entire sries. Something about that in the context of this show is so great. Kisses are great when there's chemistry but this show didn't need kisses or hugs for the leads to display their love.
I have a spoft spot for shows about disabilities but here's the thing about Silent. It teaches you that people with disabilities don't necessarily have to be pitied. They too can live their lives to the fullest and learn to accept their circumstances. The road it takes to get there surely isn't easy. As someone who isn't disabled in any way I can only imagine and would never pretend to understand. It's clear however that it takes strength to accept your circumstances. It also definitely helps when you have a wonderful character like Tsumugi around you. What a wonderfully written character. That goes for every character in the show by the way. Characters make mistakes, learn from them through introspection or the help of others and come to grow and correct or live up to their mistakes. This was the rare kind of show where I truly didn't have a male lead I'd prefer the female lead to end up with. Thankfully it's obvious from the first episode who it'll be but it made me feel all the worse for Minato who deserves so much.
All in all a phenomenal show that exceeded every expectation I had.

9. Véspera
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
Fantastic show. Opinions seem to be divided on this one but for me this was a breath of fresh air in drama's. It absolutely had some issues such as Eun Pyeong having feelings for Ra El for some reason ( they met when she was 15? so how old was he?) the kids having no resolution. Losing her father, grandfather and her mother is in a mental health asylum behind closed doors. What happened to Ra El's old husband? Wasn't she going to take revenge on him too? is he in the usa now with his daughter?
Despite these questions having no real answer I still immensily enjoyed the show. The plot kept moving forward and forward. There was nothing unnecessary. Seo Yea Ji, as always, displayed a masterclass of acting. So much so in fact that I struggle to think of an actress that could fullfill her role in this show in an as captivating way as she did.

10. Beleza Verdadeira
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
Fantastic show with great characters and an incredible payoff.
