₍ᐢ..ᐢ₎ Dramas/Movies completed in 2024 ഒ

My bad. Didn't knew it was by Harada. Call me petty but I can't stomach even the decent works of someone defends who pedophilia, gets off to drawing children in sexual acts (which also makes her suspicious...), and frames it as some unique kind of 'love' that the society can't understand, always claiming it's no different from orientations like homosexuality and highly minimizes the fact that children aren't mentally developed enough to be able to give consent (and in fact, treats the consent issue as a mischaracterization, as a nonissue conjured up by the judgmentalness of society). Someone needs to lock this person up.

For real though, I got nothing against the drama itself (although I wish they weren't adapting works of creeps and sending money straight to their pockets) or those who liked it, I've just got beef with the pedo-defending author. In the same way I hate the author of Rurouni Kenshin, and thus never began watching it but I won't go after those who enjoy RK content. I can separate 'the art from the artist' as long as the artist's actions and beliefs aren't causing real harm, something that people like Harada and Nobuhiro Watsuki definitely do by either directly participating into such vile acts or defending and supporting those who do.

It actually treated the topic (CSA) sensitively and I'm glad that it didn't try to fetishise any rape scenes by making them too detailed and lengthy to the point where you wonder if it was even necessary to show what could've easily been implied. I just felt like it left a lot out, the story felt disjointed and the character of Moto wasn't explored enough. Plus it disturbed me so much that... idk, my fingers are refusing to give it a higher rating. I don't like the title at all though, even the Japanese title is 'taboo' so who the hell thought 'kinki' was a good English title for this movie?
