he's been in love the whole time<3
the ML generally seems quite standoffish/uninterested in the FL/ML at first but we come to find out he's overcompensating for his feelings for her, that trace back to before the plot started. The FL/other ML is unaware of these feelings at the start of the show/film.
E.g.
In Radio Romance, the ML seems to have something out for the FL based on their initial interactions, but we soon find out that SPOILER they were each others' first loves
In Cherry Magic, the primary ML only finds out about the other ML's longstanding feelings for him through his newly-gained powers; the other ML doesn't outwardly show his feelings much at first
